Craig Mc Cracken's Netflix series Kid Cosmic comes out February 2.

The part about Lauren Faust being a character designer here is incorrect. She's a developer and a writer.

Guy behind OG Powerpuff Girls teaming up with Gal behind the only season of My Little Pony I'm told was unambiguously good?

I, too, am excited. Even the name makes it sounds like a badass 90s cartoon send-up.

They had me at the first stills!

...But did anyone manage to archive the article? Because it's kind of not there anymore. sad

EDIT: Oh wait, Rob Renzetti actually responded. He says it should be back on tomorrow.

I imagine the AniMag article is doing some corrections, such as the misattributed character designer credit. Though Toonzone manage to make an archive.

I'm hooked on the old-fashioned sci-fi approach and New Mexico setting. I'm surprised that Kid Cosmic might be in ensemble based on those teaser images.

The description mentions "five rings", so I can assume that rather than keeping them all, "Kid Cosmic" gives them to the four other folks seen here.

So, the general premise is basically Ben 10?

Andy Bean, who did the music for Wander Over Yonder, once again does the music here.

[up]x2: On the surface level, the idea of " a young boy finds advanced space jewelry that gives them superpowers", but that's really where the similarities end.

For starters, OG Ben didn't have to deal with his alien roster being shared among his allies, and treated as an equal ensemble cast.

[up]x5: YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES.

February can’t come soon enough.

Fun fact: Some guys (like Pan-Pizza) have noticed Kid Cosmic looks a lot like an un-chubby version of Paul Williams as he appeared in Dexter's Laboratory.

According to Craig, the resemblance is pure coincidence.

Kid Cosmic's first 10 episode season debuts today! So far, I just finished the first episode, and the striking comic-book art direction with The Kid and Jo's dynamic are some of the main highlights for me. Another clip was uploaded on Netflix's Futures account:

Nico Colaleo said how there are at least 3 seasons for the show. Apparently, Netflix more or less asked Craig how many episodes he needed to tell the story.

Seriously, Mc Cracken now needs to do a show for Nick. If Nick can't get their heads out of their butts.

[up][up][up] This show is part of Netflix's recent animation initiative, so of course they'd be generous with their creators. The way it should be, honestly. I'm still low-key bitter about shows like Tuca & Bertie, Stretch Armstrong, and Dark Crystal were treated still. tongue

[up] Why would you wish Craig such a misfortune? Modern Nick is a complete mess and he seems happy with the creative freedom he enjoys with Netflix.

The show has gotten a billboard in Times Square and Craig Mc Cracken has given plenty of interviews. Despite this, it doesn't show up on the front page on Netflix.

It showed up for me, which is really weird since usually the shows I'm interested in DON'T show up on front page.

Nah. I would argue its more like Chronicle meets Ben10 meets WanderOverYonder meets SuperMansion meets CalvinAndHobbes

EDIT: Holy shit Captain Atom made a cameo in the fourth episode! I was not expecting to see that Charlton/DC superhero in the show. I mean, sure, the premise lampoons on superhero tropes and comics from the Silver Age, but still I didn't expect to see a character who is obscure to most modern readers (at least the Charlton version).

[up] I was surprised by that too, considering how the show made up its own superheroes that inspired Kid.

I wonder if the other panels in that montage were also from old comics they can legally use.

Did Chuck actually gave a middle finger in the last episode?
