'Being around you guys makes me go "wtf" instead of pondering the ever increasing dread of time' - EchoingSilence, 2023Name: Rebecca, aka "Becca"
Setting: Cyberpunk
Powers/Abilities: Rebecca is a solo with moderate cybernetic enhancements and significant ballistic weapons proficiency. The full extent of her cybernetic capabilities is never shown, so I'm taking some liberties here based off what is shown and what is available to mercs of her caliber.
- Cybernetics: Becca is less chromed out than some of her associates, as well as many of the people she's used to dealing with, but she's still packing some impressive tech. Given how much she drinks she's gotta have a cyber-liver or something, too.
- Cybernetic Arms: They're both massive and let her fire guns as big as she is without any trouble. Presumably they're capable of squishing people like grapes in addition, but Trigger chickened out and didn't show us. They're dextrous enough for her to use them to "walk", and can handle and operate a wide variety of human-scale equipment with them.
- Dermal Implants: Her skin is bleach-white, which is about the extent of the info we get about this mod. Given that she's an accomplished solo and we never see her get injured by gunfire, I'm choosing to interpret this as providing significant protection against small arms fire, but not anything high-caliber or otherwise packing an enormous amount of force behind it.
- Cyber-optics: Bright and vibrant just like her personality, the standard optics suite includes a variety of features including thermal and low-light vision, high resolution vision and optical zoom, flashbang protection and ballistic targetting computers. It also records in a limited capacity to provide facial recognition data. She lacks any smartguns or smart link enhancements, so while her eyes help her track targets she still has to aim and shoot manually.
- Combat Experience: If it's got a trigger and can fire faster than once a second, Becca knows how to make it sing. Fond of launchers, automatics and shotguns, although she's also willing to run with slower, punchier guns like high-powered rifles.
- Kinda But Not Completely A Dumbass: Let's be real here, Rebecca's not the sharpest bulb in the fridge, but she's also not a total idiot. She's quick to pick up on things that seem out of place, but also averse to any sort of planning, given that her preferred methodology involves walking or running towards her targets while unloading at them until they're either gone or puddles of gore. Don't expect any miracles on the thinking end of the spectrum from her, is what I'm getting at.
Equipment: Rebecca's gotten her hands on quite a large number of weapons in her short life, but only four of them managed to make their way into Concordia with her. They're all painted bright pink and blue, just like everything else she owns.
- Guts: Rebecca's custom-modded heavy shotgun based off the Carnage platform, it's both heavy and unwieldy enough to be functionally impossible for an ordinary human to fire. It's a little on the unreliable side, but she's gotten pretty good at keeping it running, and not much short of heavy duty armor can stop its shots. She always has either this or the Mk. 31 on her person when she's out and about.
- Mk. 31 HMG: The mother of all heavy machineguns, the Mk. 31 wasn't designed to be man-portable, it was designed to be bolted onto a point defense turret frame. That obviously hasn't stopped the most die-hard heavy weapons freaks from getting their hands on it, and Rebecca is no exception. Due to its design function as a mounted gun, it's troublesome to reload the whopping 300-round belt-fed drum magazine, but the gun is reliable and powerful enough that reloading is almost never necessary until there are no longer targets left to shoot. She always has either this or her Guts on her person when she's out and about.
- TKI-20 Shigen: A pair of smart submachine guns Rebecca got her hands on, which she usually uses for less serious engagements. As she lacks any smart link equipment, the "smart" part of the guns doesn't function. They make quick work of your average gangoon, but unlike her other two weapons they're effectively useless against even modestly-armored targets.
Backstory: If you haven't watched Edgerunners you should probably do that. Long story short she's a merc on a team of mercs kicking ass and taking names in a shithole called Night City. Rebecca is used to seeing people die, whether she killed them or not. Eventually, shit went bad after a particularly high-stakes mission, and Becca ended up in Concordia, extremely angry and confused.
Personality: A lovable highly-violent pink gremlin, Becca operates on the extremes of absolutely everything she's involved in. She by default tends to go all out in nearly everything she does, whether it's mowing down gangoons or partying it up with the gang. In spite of her firecracker mood swings, she works well in a team and is fiercely loyal and protective of those she cares about, which is a rather short list. Doesn't get along well with authority or anyone resembling authority, due to "authority" in Night City meaning the crushing boot of the mega-corps.
Role In The City: Merc for hire operating out of Zone Five, and sometimes Zones Six and Seven. Given that it's generally more difficult to get away with wonton violence in Concordia compared to Night City, Rebecca has had to chill out her antics to some small degree. Generally bored out of her mind, as far fewer people are trying to kill her on a daily basis relative to her upbringing back home. Willing to take up an incredibly wide variety of paying jobs due to the peaceful nature of Concordia relative to the extreme violence of Night City, on account of not needing to put roughly half of every paycheck towards medical and ammo expenses.
Other Things Of Note:
- Has heard of Adam Smasher, and remembers what the asshole who ruined her gang's party looks like, but has no idea they're the same person yet.
- Frequently can be found chewing bubblegum.
- Fan of Philip K. Dick, even though she's never actually read any of his work.

Name: Audiogeist
Appearance: Ethereal.◊ I know my drawing skills (and the software I used) aren't the best, I would've preferred leaving that up to the reader's imagination. But oh well
P.S. If you look closely, you may be able to spot hands in the red blots
Setting: Original character, comes from a fantasy universe
Powers/Abilities:
- Posession: As a poltergeist, Audio can posess objects using his plasma and hurl them around. He can't do the same to humans, unless they have an extremely low willpower.
- Sonic Shock: Can produce explosive air waves with the capacity to stun enemies, knock them back and/or blow out their eardrums. He can also use this ability much more finely, which grants him the power of...
- Dem Sick Beats: Can (re-)produce any sound he's heard before. His favourite thing to do with this ability is to throw parties with (mostly) EDM music.
- Musical Buffs/Debuffs: His music can grant almost any feeling to a human - sadness, confidence, despair, excitement, you name it. This ability can improve the strength or stamina of his allies, or slow down his opponents.
Backstory: Once upon a time, Audio - an average poltergeist - got captured and bound to two obsidian rocks by a powerful magician, Thomassen, and was forced to serve. Thomassen was not a bad master, however, and over time, Audio grew to like Thomassen. Sometimes the two would even go out on adventures, where Audio would protect his master against other spirits, monsters, or thieves.
One day, the two set out to defeat the evil wizard Diabolus, who was threatening to curse the land and make it infertile. During the climatic showdown, one of Diabolus's spells struck Audiogeist and sent him to another universe... To this day, Audiogeist is hitchhiking across the multiverse, with no idea if his master survived or if he'll ever find his homeworld again. He's taken up the hobby of music production as a result, in order to better get in touch with humans.
Role In The City: DJ
Other Things Of Note: Despite being ethereal, Audiogeist can be harmed. If he overexerts himself, or his plasma gets disrupted too strongly by external influence, the resulting entropy can be intense enough to knock him out. If this happens, the only thing that protects him from certain doom is the sealing/protection spell cast on his obsidian rocks.

"What I don‘t like about measure theory is that you have to say 'almost everywhere' almost everywhere." - Attributed to Kurt Friedrichs- Name: Kokichi Oma
- Appearance: It's a lie!◊
- Setting: Danganronpa V3; Killing Harmony
- Powers/Abilities:
- Picklocking - Pretty standard skill. He would only do this if no one is around.
- Lying - He can lie whenever he wants, but he can't just lie willy-nilly.
- Backstory:
- Please note that this has Danganronpa V3 spoilers around Kokichi's fate, so you have been warned.
- Kokichi was one of the ultimates that were chosen to get on the gofer project as humanity was going on to extinction by space rocks. However, that failed the moment Monokuma was on the ship, so a killing game was bound to happen. Unfortunately, he didn't make it out alive as he try to make an unsolvable murder case and was so close to doing so. Said unsolvable murder involves him getting crushed under a hydraulic presser after getting poisoned. However, what awaits him wasn't death itself, but it's Concordia was waiting for him. As much as he wants to escape this, he has no choice, but to stay.
- Please note that this has Danganronpa V3 spoilers around Kokichi's fate, so you have been warned.
- Role In The City:
- He doesn't have any occupation as far as he's concerned, but he's usually seen in Zone 5 in the dark alleys.
- Other Things Of Note:
- He's very elusive, so only a few people know he exists.
- Kiel is also a part of the list of people that knows him, but Kokichi is somehow afraid of him.
- He only helps out as long as he gets food cause being homeless isn't fun for an ultimate supreme leader.
- The reason why he asks for more food was that he's not the only one whose homeless.
- While he is an ultimate supreme leader, it's just that he works alone and does his own thing. But, he is willing to work with others as stated above.
- He's very elusive, so only a few people know he exists.
Hey, when can I expect my signup request to be handled?

"What I don‘t like about measure theory is that you have to say 'almost everywhere' almost everywhere." - Attributed to Kurt Friedrichs@Stepex No 2: Sorry for the wait! I looked Audiogeist over and do have concerns with getting the character to fit in the setting; a lot of the RP hinges around plotting and intrigue, and it seems like there might not be much of a place for the character in our current roster - my concern is that he'll end up floating around without much of anything to do. The Musical Buff/Debuff trait in particular isn't something that will work well with the rest of the cast. Please let me know if you have any questions, and my apologies for the delay.
@Xabby: Questions sent on Discord.
'Being around you guys makes me go "wtf" instead of pondering the ever increasing dread of time' - EchoingSilence, 2023Thanks for the response! I'll see what else I can come up with.
"What I don‘t like about measure theory is that you have to say 'almost everywhere' almost everywhere." - Attributed to Kurt FriedrichsI do have a question, actually - what kinds of traits/abilities would/would not be favourable for this RP?
"What I don‘t like about measure theory is that you have to say 'almost everywhere' almost everywhere." - Attributed to Kurt FriedrichsNot so much abilities, but character traits that lend themselves to a reasonably serious but slightly surreal setting with political intrigue and a decent amount of backstabbing - think Disco Elysium if that helps at all.
'Being around you guys makes me go "wtf" instead of pondering the ever increasing dread of time' - EchoingSilence, 2023Is this still open? If so, I could prolly whip up a sheet? (Also, would the above mean that schemers are preferred over other kinds of characters? Or just peeps that would work well alongside schemers?)
"Doctor, I did say look for the Spymaster. Or should I say Spy....Master?"Hi there, yes, we are still open. Schemers aren't preferred - we have all sorts - but we prefer characters who can slot into a reasonably gritty setting and have a defined social role. At the moment the main cast herds are:
a) A group dedicated to exploring the vast unknown nonsense dungeon
b) Police and police-adjacent staff with varying degrees of corruption
c) Political figures in a nepotism sandwich oligarchy
d) A rebel militia dedicated to overthrowing the oligarchy
e) People on the fringes of said groups
We do tend to skew towards longer intervals between long posts, so you may need a certain amount of patience to deal with us. Do let me know if you have any questions, and thanks for your interest!

'Being around you guys makes me go "wtf" instead of pondering the ever increasing dread of time' - EchoingSilence, 2023Hmmm...Ok.
I can whip something up! I'm debating whether to use a Kingdom Hearts character or a Super Sentai character, but that's for me to figure out.
I am curious though: How exactly does the dungeon-crawling work in this RP?
"Doctor, I did say look for the Spymaster. Or should I say Spy....Master?"There's a nonsense chaos realm surrounding the City, which can be shaped into real objects but is very dangerous. The Draughtsman's Guild goes out of the bounds of the City and tries to make sense of the nonsense chaos realm, mapping it into defined forms that the City can expand into. This is actually quite rare, so there haven't been a huge number of expeditions - most of their plot so far has hinged around the political implications that come with their position, rather than actual exploration.
If you are going to submit a Sentai character, keep in mind that there may not be much room for superheroics in that vein, as things are getting more and more hectic.
'Being around you guys makes me go "wtf" instead of pondering the ever increasing dread of time' - EchoingSilence, 2023That's fair. The Sentai candidates in my head are more battle-oriented anyway rather than straight-up do-gooders; and that's if I don't use a villain for that.
And one other question: Are new people isekai'ed into the city periodically or is it assumed that they all flooded in en-masse and have spent time adapting?
Edited by klom99 on Mar 26th 2023 at 7:19:27 AM
"Doctor, I did say look for the Spymaster. Or should I say Spy....Master?"You can choose either entry method but most player characters have opted for the second. If you do choose the first, you'll be the only one so far.
'Being around you guys makes me go "wtf" instead of pondering the ever increasing dread of time' - EchoingSilence, 2023Gotcha.
And last question, for the sake of balance: One of the candidates I have in-mind has a Game Mod centered round them that expands their battle-style. Would invoking AU-elements be an issue or is it preferred to retain the primary version of a character?
"Doctor, I did say look for the Spymaster. Or should I say Spy....Master?"
