Same as that.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.Should I remove it now or should I wait for further opinions on the matter?
Be kind.I think you can go ahead and remove it.
The chapter was written long before the pandemic.
I've removed it and cited this thread in the edit reason.
Alright; thanks! Ended up missing the go-ahead because I check these threads somewhat irregularly.

Be kind.I thought it was a nod to the Pandemic, and most people I have seen seem to think it is too
It having been written a long time ago doesn't really have much bearing on a minor reference note being there.
The First manThe point is that if it was written before the pandemic, it can't very well be a reference to it.
Do we actually know for a confirmed fact that 100% of the script was completed before the pandemic and that he hadn't change a single line since?
Do we know as a confirmed fact that it was written as an intentional reference to the pandemic?
We know for a fact that the Chapter was still being developed in 2020 and for a portion of 2021, and we know that the Game isn't following a fully written script written years ago because 2 charachters in chapter 2 lampshade how the game took years to make, Sans specifically saying 'Maybe another 3 years, who knows'
It says how the Previously hugging Buff superheroes were now 4 inches apart before saying how now there was now dialogue about encouraging proper 'Distancing' during the school dance.
There is a little bit of wiggle room that it could maybe be something else and is just a coincidence, like just Toriel being an Uber religious mom, but its really not a stretch and I think its a fair assumption to make unless its ever clarified it wasn't.

The First manYeah, the "distancing" phrasing is pretty telling. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember anyone using such terms for human contact before 2020. Especially in the in-universe context of religiously motivated prudishness.
(Sorry for dropping off this project with regards to Deltarune examples. I'll get back to it when I can.)
The state of TV Tropes. We have plausible reason to believe it a deliberate reference and no hard evidence it isn't. Whether it is, is not confirmed, but at the least it is perceived this way by a significant number of people and therefore isn't blatant misuse or a case of the usual blatant Fan Myopia, which is the primary justification for deleting entries outright (as opposed to modifying or relocating them where possible).
>the "distancing" phrasing is pretty telling
Does the game use the word "distancing"? We don't recall that word appearing in that spot but it's been a while since we played the game.

One thing I've noticed is that Noelle's Ambiguously Bi entry states that Kris's gender is kept ambiguous, when the Ambiguous Gender example has been taken off of Kris's page.
So, what should we do with that?
-NZRemove it. If the ruling is that Kris doesn't constitute Ambiguous Gender, that applies everywhere, not just their character folder.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.Did it. Are there any other examples of Kris's gender being stated as ambiguous?
-NZI am going to argue in favour of reinstating Ambiguous Gender. My argument is simple: Kris' race is clearly ambiguous, so why not their gender?
Dude, it was decided by a mass crowner vote. It's not changing unless you have new, unpresented evidence.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure Pureness... because Ambiguous Gender is not, in fact, considered a subtrope of Ambiguously Brown?
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.Until new information is brought forth, the Ambiguous Gender debate will remain tabled. The thread has reached a consensus by vote on this matter.
Macron's notesSpeaking of Kris being nonbinary, there's a point on YMMV.Deltarune that lists it under Fanon; it's been on there in varying forms since December 2021. I'd previously altered the wording of the point to state that Kris is heavily implied to be nonbinary and that depicting them as male or female is the fanon part, per the crowner's consensus, but I've just noticed that the most recent revision (shown below) by thetragicfoolbus rewords it to go back to stating that "Kris is nonbinary" is just fanon. Of note is that thetragicfoolbus was previously brought up in the ATT thread that inspired the crowner for being particularly active in asserting their belief that Kris isn't nonbinary as if it were fact (despite the large amount of in-game implications that suggest otherwise), to the point of a borderline edit war.
- As with Frisk and Chara from Undertale, Kris is referred to exclusively with gender neutral pronouns. This, coupled with their androgynous appearance and unisex name, has led many fans to interpret them as nonbinary.
Given the crowner, should this be reverted?
Edited by bowserbros on Apr 30th 2022 at 12:49:23 PM
Be kind.Yep, revert it. The wiki should be consistent.
Crown Description:
The subject of Kris and their gender has sparked a heated debate and multiple edit wars, with people adding, re-adding, and deleting Ambiguous Gender examples from their character page. This crowner is to firmly decide whether or not Ambiguous Gender should be included in their character sheet.
I didn't think it was a Covid reference, I thought it was a joke about 'leave room for Jesus' type of parents.
