I saw the interview with one of the head writers. These are my thoughts:
It's mostly information on how the writer came to be where he is, with little information on Sonic (it's a professional secret). The guy was born in the 70's, and has had luck in some comics of the Big Two, alongside multiple works in IDW. Sonic Prime would be his first work in animation, and for that I wish him the best of luck.
Regarding Sonic, he kept quiet about it. He merely said he owned the Sega Genesis at the time, and played Sonic 1 a lot. In many ways, he's like Ken Pontac: an outsider. He's not like Ian Flynn or Evan Stanley who know their fandom and are young (by comparison in Flynn's case). In many ways, I'm glad the franchise doesn't get run by the asylum (as Tv Tropes calls it), meaning more appeal to people outside the community; in other words though, the generational gap may make his writing hard to sell for the kids watching the show on Netflix. Although, one must remember that Ken Pontac works are popular with kids, it's the older fanbase who has a problem with his style of writing, and the generational gap problem also existed in Sonic X.
I do like his taste, though: he's a huge fan of Superman (Reeves is his favorite), loves Spider-man in the Spider-verse and the Captain American movies of the MCU. He's a fan of 80's cartoons, mostly western properties, so this may mean that Sonic Prime will not be animeske in tone. It makes sense, as Man of Action is working on it.
So, there you go, my thoughts.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.Yeah, I can see why he's keeping quiet about Sonic Prime since he can't reveal too much about the show. But, since we saw his background regarding his writing, it makes me wonder if Sonic Prime is going to be a superhero type of show or it's going to be more serious in tone compared to other Sonic properties. Whichever one, I'm still excited for this series and I hope that it does well!
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!Well, someone on Twitter said that it will possibly be like Generator Rex in tone, but they could change their mind about it. Sonic always felt like a superhero property to me, to be honest. A flawless blue guy who fights a mad scientist, that's Superman we talking.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.Yeah, that's what I liked about some of these Sonic cartoons, especially Sonic the Hedgehog (SatAM) as they allowed Sonic to feel some kind of emotion here and there.
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!Regarding the possibility of a redesign, I'm imagining Sonic could have special shoes or gloves.
Either way, what kinda universes you guys are expecting?
Aside from possibly a crossover with main canon or Boom, am imagining we'll see a universe where Sonic and friends are (heroic) robots, another where the dynamics are inverted between foes and allies, another where Sonic's world strangely resembles a certain red-hatted plumber's, another where Sonic is a normal, speedless hedgehog in a world invaded by Eggman, another where Shadow is the hero and Sonic is the copy (full-on with Shadow being a bit negative but carrying some of Sonic's trademark optimism and friendliness, while Sonic is confident and a jokester using his humor as a coverup for identity issues), another where Sonic and the gang are human and Eggman's an evil chicken, and last but not least, maybe a dream episode of a High School AU just as a fandom nod to that popular trope.
I also wonder if Sonic will be looking for the Chaos Emeralds across the multiverse or if he'll be borrowing those inside the other universes in case he ever comes across them.
(if we ever get Boom, we better get a snark comment about its cancellation).
I'm not going to speculate a lot, but this is what I'll imagine will happen:
It will be an Alternate Universe version of the character as the protagonist like it happened with Boom, and the series will reintroduce mostly classic characters while borrowing elements from the modern series, just like it happened with Boom and the movie. My evidence for the theory is mostly from Mega Man: Fully Charged, which is an AU based on the classic series and with original characters that replace the classic characters BUT are still based on the original.
In Megaman Fully Charged we had an original villain who replaced Dr.Willy and Namagen, who is a Composite Character of both Bass and Protoman.
I expect Knuckles appearing, but Amy might be replaced by a different female lead (because that tend to happen in these works). Metal Sonic and Shadow might be combined in this world, or something. Don't expect Black Doom, Mephiles or Infinite.
But I could be wrong. All we know is that Eggman will appear.

To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.Again, I don't know, and my speculation is based on what MOA would do. Megaman Fully Charged turned Roll into something of a Gwen Tennyson (who turns into Zero in the comic book), and so fort. I'm imagining the case with the archetypes MOA tend to do.
Sonic by the way is the kind of character MOA would write tho.

To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.I didn't know this was a thing. Let's just hope Sonic doesn't get blue arms again, we know what happened last time.
"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."
I assume you're referring to a certain Internet... personality and their reaction to Sonic Boom's blue arms?
I'm getting some vibes from these. There is obviously some Robotropolis feel, Eggman family look inspired by Eggette and cavewoman Amy reminds me of Alucion from obscure french comic. Sonic looks like he's hiding from her. Is he's worried she's hostile? Is she hostile? Or will they use the the cavewoman angle to bring back her Abhorrent Admirer angle?
here's
the concept art for who's interested. Also, called it: new shoes!
Also from the looks of it, there's a universe where Knuckles is a pirate
.
I can feel the tension from miles away.
Actually now that I think about it my first thought was Alucion because Amy's design just give me Western Sonic vibes. For example, it makes me also think about Amy from British Fleetway comics. But on second think I wonder if Cave Amy is suppose to Composite Character with Sticks the Badger to get around the fact that she seems to be Exiled from Continuity after Sonic Boom went down.

Yeah, like you can tell Classic Sonic from Modern Sonic by body shape, and Boom Sonic from Normal Sonic by his outfit.
