Early voting makes a big difference in the speed of counting - Florida already has about 4 million votes counted (out of 10.8+ million)

Wow, you're right Silasw. Florida is counting fast. They're already at 44% of the vote counted.

Remember with Florida that a lot of what we’re going to see is mail-in-ballots, which are liable to be more democratic, so wait for counties, districts or the state as a whole to finish counting.

CNN is putting Biden ahead in Georgia! I dunno if I should be too excited because early votes unreliable and all that, but there you are. Let's see if this post is still relevant in a couple hours. :V

I’m seeing it, but it’s 4% of the vote counted currently, so it really doesn’t mean anything.

538 is saying that the Biden results in Miami-Dade are terrible relative to Clinton’s, and suggest Trump winning the state by 2-3%.

[up] I've heard that too. However, I think Biden will barely pull it off because he's doing really well with the Elder Voters who normally went to Trump.

Biden is ahead by +9, but the county was +29 Clinton.

They also said things are far from certain. Miami-Dade's demographics might not lead it to be particularly representative of how the state as a whole will go.

Also, apparently Biden is leading in another big county that Trump won by one point.

That’s really, really bad. Democrats rely on the cities - if they don’t win them big, then they don’t win.

I’m not going to doomsay, but I’m not going to whistle past the graveyard like everyone was doing in 2016 either. Bad results are bad results.

From what I can tell in 2016, that didn't really happen. People started to panic long before there was an actual reason to.

West Virginia instantly called for Trump. Another expected result. Biden still up decently in Florida despite Miami-Dade.

I suppose Florida is destined to be the eternal, if Republican leaning, nail bitter.

I just hope the polls in the Midwest were accurate.

I remember in 2016 when the results in Virginia indicated a much closer national race than expected, everyone saying, "no, just wait for the cities to report".

We don't need Florida to win. It's just that if we do, it's probably game over for Trump.

Nope, Florida not looking good at the moment. 7+ million votes counted, out of a little short of 11 million. Biden currently a shade ahead, but doing much worse in traditional blue areas than Clinton did.

Fulton County, Georgia (the largest county in the state) officals say they are delaying counting mail-in ballots by four hours after a pipe burst, no ballots were damaged.

Something I don't get - in CNN's model, Orange County has less than 300 votes reported total. Is that why it's currently red despite containing Orlando?
