You linked a tweet for a Godzilla anime
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyShame the 2 leads looks extremely basic & generic.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."x3 - For some reason it posts the entire Tweet chain rather than the specific entry for Pacific Rim.
So is this continuing the story of the films ?
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."The show comes out March 4.

Nicole Dubuc will write for the series. Given how she's frequently collaborated with Greg Johnson , it's no surprise.

So when does this take place in the timeline? Sometime during the Kaiju War before the original movie?
Apparently after Uprising, but it seems Australia was being overrun by Kaiju. And the rift got nuked after the first movie. Who even knows?
Think people would notice the new landscape?

Wake me up at your own risk.Pacific Rim was at its core a celebration of kaiju and mecha archetypes and this appears to be similar. I just wish it was another studio.
Hopefully they'll go full ham once the fights start or someone loses it because they start chasing the rabbit at some key point.

I imagine that because this is a series they need an actual villain villain, hence this crime lord dude that reminds me of the crime boss character from Book of Eli.
It's out!
I enjoyed it, although it's clear that this was ordered for two seasons at once.
I thought it was an Alternate Continuity at first but it explicitly has a bunch of call backs to the films later.
And it's a lot bloodier and darker than I was expecting. While there's no over-the-top gore plenty of people die in really horrible ways.
Damn it’s already out. Well I’ll watch it later, should be easy since it’s only 7 episodes at the moment.
Well as long as Black is of good quality then I don’t mind this show being how the franchise continues, better than Uprising.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Pacific Rim: The Black
Well, I'm enjoying this. We stil get some Kaiju vs Jaeger action, but the fact that the best pilot we have is just a cadet and there's no functional bases or support crews really changes the feel. On that subject, I almost feel like Copperhead didn't need to be a category 4; a lower category Kaiju still would have presented a big enough threat.
Atlas Destroyer is neat. It does have a figure (minor spoiler in accessories) though it's Premium Bandai so might be a pain getting it outside of Japan.
Post-apocalyptic Australia is an interesting setting, but it works. I would like more world-building specifically linked to The Black though.
Shane is just awful. Kinda surprised nobody's killed him already. Whenever you get a character like this, I really just question why their subordinates are so loyal.
Boy is weird. Given tropes, the immediate assumption is that he has some special powers or something. Human kaiju hybrid?
Damn, that exploding radio was cold.
Ghost drifting is an interesting, if weird, concept. And it ties it into the movies.
This kaiju-jaeger hybrid feels a lot scarier than the one in Uprising. Though granted, the plot did require that one to be a surprise.
Huh, the plot of Uprising is relevant. As one of the very few people who actually seemed to enjoy that film, neat.
As the original movie was more Real Robot and Uprising was more Super Robot, this seems to have taken another step in the same direction.
Aww, it gave them an arm.
This dancing scene is too fun, something bad must be about to happen. Well, Mei remembered her tragic backstory.
Well, there's some blatant season 2 bait.
Overall, I definitely enjoyed it. It certainly feels different to the movies, but I think it's still recognizably enough in the same world. I hope it does get another season.

Craig Kyle confirmed season 2.
Ya know the setting of the show does become amusing when you remember at the end of Uprising Jake boasted that they will invade the aliens world. Now in Black the aliens response to that is to invade Earth even harder than they ever did before, opening multiple portals to send an army of Kaiju forcing entire continents to be abandoned.
Makes me wonder if the Happy Ending Override is a deliberate Take That towards Uprising. The fact Atlas Destroyer has no weapons can be argued was a response towards Uprising giving the Jaeger's overtly flashy weapons like katanas and laser whips.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I really doubt that. The Black seems to respect Uprising more than the fans do, with that movie's events having plenty of influence on the plot.
What events exactly?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I mean the giant kaiju/jaeger hybrid running around mostly.
Well credit to Uprising for managing to have some decent ideas.

Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).So I've been watching this. Just finished episode 5.
Damn. Joel got a solution to his memory problems. That's for sure.
And as I said in the Chatterbox thread dick move Shane. Dick move.
One Strip! One Strip!
After being announced several years prior, Legendary Productions and Polygon Pictures have revealed screenshots and the full opening for Pacific Rim Black, an anime spinoff of the movie-dulogy about giant robots fighting kaiju. Co-showrunners are Craig Kyle and Greg Johnson. Legendary Entertainment is credited as the production company.
