"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanMerge under the title Anything Can Be Music.
Rock'n'roll never dies!Merge the other trope into this one.
I'd like to apologize for all this.Yeah, merge. I didn't even know they were different tropes, I thought those names were just two aliases for the same trope.
Everything can be found on the Internet... except common sense.Everything Is an Instrument has the better description.
Rock'n'roll never dies!Merge.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Merge into Everything Is an Instrument. Anything Can Be Music has only 30 wicks vs. the former's 300+.

back lol
What about making Everything Is an Instrument about unusual items being used to make music and Anything Can Be Music about unusual sounds being used to make music?
That sounds like a distinction without a difference, honestly. Unusual sounds usually come from items that aren't specifically designed to be instruments.
Yeah, I don't think that's a split-worthy difference.
I am surprised this got opened without any kind of wick check. it's the way to find hidden patterns in the use of the tropes in question.
Anyway, that's consensus to merge.
The question now is — which title do we use, and which description do we use?
I'd like to apologize for all this.Everything Is an Instrument is overall better written with a broader description (the only thing Anything Can Be Music does more is telling that it's mostly a Comedy Trope) and has more examples, but Anything Can Be Music has a broader title. I suggest moving the entire page of Everything Is an Instrument to Anything Can Be Music (of course we check the examples before) then turn Everything Is an Instrument in a redirect.
It has the broader title, but "Instrument" has gotten more inbounds.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Tropes Are Flexible. As I mentioned in another thread where Tropes Are Flexible came up, TRS previously merged Movie Superheroes Wear Muted Colors with the older trope Movie Superheroes Wear Black because colors other than black are allowed with the latter.

You can't always get what you want.Yeah, nevermind. Now that you mention it, I think also the titles are a close example of Distinction Without a Difference.
Crown Description:
Consensus agreed to merge Anything Can Be Music with Everything Is An Instrument. Which title do we keep, and which description do we keep?
Everything Is an Instrument is about using unusual sounds or items to create music.
Anything Can Be Music is about making music with unusual sounds or items.
As things sit right now, the definitions are a Distinction Without a Difference, with most of the examples on Anything Can Be Music being redundant to Everything Is An Instrument or fitting better under tropes like Serendipitous Symphony.
Anything Can Be Music could possibly be salvaged as a subtrope of Everything is an Instrument, covering situations where "music" is defined very loosely- John Cage's works involving things like 12 radios tuned to different stations, Frank Zappa playing a bicycle, etc.
