One of the shows produced by Chris Nee's production company is Spirit Rangers. The show is created by Karissa Valencia, who worked on Vampirina.

"Created by Chumash tribal member, Karissa Valencia, Spirit Rangers is a fantasy-adventure preschool series following Native American sibling trio Kodiak, Summer and Eddy Skycedar, who have a shared secret—they’re “Spirit Rangers!” Spirit Rangers can transform into their own animal spirit to help protect the National Park they call home. With the blessing of the Chumash and Cowlitz tribes, we’ll join the Skycedar kids on their magical adventures with spirits inspired by indigenous stories."

Now that the show is out I've been watching it, and it's a slam dunk! I wish there was more kids' programming like this on the airwaves. This was clearly written with attention to the cultures the writers' room grew up in and with attention to the lessons kids in this show's demographic should have in their media. My Native friends all consider it a fantastic kids' show and a fantastic show created by Native writers and artists, and I think it more than deserves its own TV Tropes page now that it's out! I hope we get more love for Kodi, Summer and Eddy and all their friends. (Also, Cree Summer's performance as Onokok/Lizard? Phenomenal.)

I just have one question: why is there the "ooh parents can't know about the spirits" element? Are they not the people who taught them about spirits in the first place?

Is it a lie Coyote invented to fuck with the kids?
