I can appreciate the sibling dynamic on display (my brother and I are also a case of Practically Different Generations), but that's the only thing I really got out of this sneak peek. Didn't laugh. Some of these jokes should have gotten a chuckle out of me, but there was something about the delivery that just didn't land. And yeah, that "This Summer" caught me off-guard. If it's coming out that soon with barely any advertising or marketing behind it, it doesn't feel like higher-ups have much faith in it.
I wonder what Jeff is doing while Dan is working on this.
I know Jeff is involved with Amazon's Pete the Cat series. Not sure if that's still ongoing
SoundCloudDan revealed new information on the series in a Tik Tok Q/A.
- It's in the same universe as his other two shows for Disney TVA.
- The intro will be previewed at Disney Channel's SDCC 2022 panel.
- Easter eggs to his previous shows will be there
- The aliens will be part of a serious story arc
- Season 1 will be 30 half hours
Thoughts on the news? Surprised how big season 1's order is considering the lack of advertising from Disney. Seems this could be story arc driven a la Gravity Falls, Amphibia, Star vs, and Ducktales.
EDIT: Sara Jane Sherman has confirmed she will be the voice director for this series. (looks like this breaks Eden Riegel's three Disney Channel animated series in a row streak as voice director).
Also in a response to her tweet, Vincent Martella implied he may be doing voicework for the series.
Given how the show wasn't mentioned for Disney Channel's July 2022 premieres on Cable Forum, looks like it could be premiering in August.

Oof. Hate to say it, but the prospect that this is gonna be another story arc driven show is making me even more nervous. Milo's story arcs started good, but it went down the drain pretty fast IMO, (though I'll argue that it probably had a lot to do with Doofenshmirtz being forced into being a main character when he really didn't need to be.) Hopefully this time it's better, but I'm not holding my breath.
in before Doofenshmirtz hijacks the show and everyone forgets about the hamster
New theme music also a box"guys we have a situation here!"
"what is this time?"
"Its Doofenshmirtz he was supposed to have a non talking background cameo but he used his plotinator to make himself the main character!"
New theme music also a boxA poster for this show came out today! Seems like we're gonna get a sizable rogue's gallery for the titular duo.

Not really sure if it does much to ease the nervousness I have about the show, but it looks cool at least. Voice cast also got announced. Gretel's voiced by Dan Povenmire's daughter, and Hamster is voiced by the same guy who voiced Launchpad in the Ducktales reboot lol
Oh, that's Dan Povenmire's daughter? Interesting.
> Hamster is voiced by the same guy who voiced Launchpad in the Ducktales reboot
I was thinking they were going to go the roofus route and make him unintelligible, but hamster Launchpad is funnier
New theme music also a boxWonder if there will be a non-talking animal in the series voiced by Dee Bradley Baker like Perry and Diogee?
In the show like this with a talking hamster super hero that's a obvious addition
New theme music also a boxDan confirmed while some characters from Phineas and Ferb and Milo Murphy's Law will appear in season 1, it will not be in a large scale crossover capacity the same way Milo Murphy's Law was so y'all don't have to worry on Doofenshmirtz hijacking this series.
> y'all don't have to worry on Doofenshmirtz hijacking this series.
too late he's already got his inators ready!
New theme music also a boxSo she's not a professional voice actor. That might explain some of the awkwardness of her delivery in the teaser. Though hopefully she'll improve over time.
There's a tropes page for the show now.
Not for long in that state. Please see Creating a Work Page for an Upcoming Work.

Why does series premiere say August 8th, not August 12?

Disney Channel announced today the FRIDAY, AUG. 12 (9:35 p.m.* EDT/PDT), premiere date and debuted the official trailer for their upcoming animated superhero comedy, “Hamster & Gretel,” from Disney Branded Television. Joining the cast as recurring characters are Priah Ferguson (“Stranger Things”) as Gretel’s best friend, Bailey; Liza Koshy (“Liza on Demand”) as news reporter Veronica Hill; Alyson Stoner (“Phineas and Ferb”) and Brock Powell (“Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe”) as the evil sibling duo Lauren and Lyle a.k.a The Destructress and Fist Puncher, respectively; and viral rap sensation Akintoye as Kevin’s confident buddy, Anthony. Guest stars are Jenny Lorenzo (“Victor and Valentino”) as Carolina’s mother, Abuelita; legendary Latin pop star Karina La Voz as the tear-jerking La Cebolla; You Tube star Thomas Sanders (“Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe”) as frat guy horse-man Neighslayer; Tik Tok star Casey Hamilton (@Mr Hamilton) as Gretel’s mild-mannered substitute teacher, Mr. Chabner; and Adam Rose (“Merry Happy Whatever”) as evil jingle writer The Earworm.
“Hamster & Gretel” introduces Kevin and his younger sister, Gretel, who are about to be bestowed superpowers by space aliens. But something goes awry, and it’s Gretel and her pet hamster (named Hamster) who suddenly have new abilities. Now, protective older brother Kevin must figure out how to work with both Gretel and her pet, Hamster, to protect their city from mysterious dangers.
Starring in the series is newcomer Meli Povenmire as Gretel; Michael Cimino (“Love, Victor”) as Gretel’s older brother, Kevin; Beck Bennett (“SNL”) as Gretel’s pet hamster, Hamster; Joey King (“Kissing Booth”) as her tech-savvy cousin, Fred; Matt Jones (“Bob Hearts Abishola”) as the siblings’ easygoing father, Dave; and Carolina Ravassa (“Maya and the Three”) as their charismatic mother, Carolina.
Created by Dan Povenmire (of the Emmy® Award-winning global hit series “Phineas and Ferb”), “Hamster and Gretel” is produced by Disney Television Animation and is inspired by Povenmire’s relationship with his significantly younger sister. Brandi Young (“Milo Murphy’s Law”) serves as producer; Joanna Hausmann (“Bill Nye Saves the World”) will serve as co-producer/story editor, and Dorothea Gerassimova (“Mira, Royal Detective”) is the art director.
Looks like we'll be getting some V As from Phineas and Milo like Alyson Stoner (Isabella) and Brock Powell (Alien Pilot) involved. Surprised there's a lot of Internet celebrities doing voicework here.
> Surprised there's a lot of Internet celebrities doing voicework here.
I'm not, getting celbratities relevant to their demographic is how (in theory) you make a show appealing
New theme music also a boxI know that, but these ones are more from Youtube and Tik Tok so that's what I mean by Internet celebrity.
Surprised no one's given the new information here.
Here's the trailer for season 1 and the intro shown at the show's SDCC 2022 panel.
I think this looks.. Okay? It's nice to see that Dan is still making cartoons and all, but there's really nothing selling me on it. I didn't laugh at all during the preview, which is concerning since both Phineas and Ferb and Milo Murphy (well, the first season of Milo anyway) always made me laugh. Doesn't really help that Swampy's not on board on this one, and most of the strengths Dan's other shows had was because the both of them were bouncing off each other.
Also, this is legit the first promo we got of this show and it's apparently coming this Summer?.. Yeah, this show's not gonna be on the air for very long is it?
