Star Haven
Before Kanami's statement could register, Crash landed straight on Roy's head, bopping it as he hopped off. He stumbled backwards in a daze, grumbling in pain as he tried desperately to make the world stop spinning.
As for Morton, his face was tucked deep in his shell, meaning there wasn't a face to punch. One good thwack was enough to send Morton flying, sending him careening towards the edge as he screamed for dear life. Though the impact still sprained Yuan's wrist something fierce.
Meanwhile, Ludwig was belching out a steady stream of flames, launching them down the road to Star Haven like a flamethrower and only stopping when Tiblat dared to question his loyalty.
"How dare you disgrace me with such insults! It doesn't matter if he's a 'good king!' He is king! His will is our will! His desires are our desires! He longs to claim this world and his dear beloved with everything he has! His ambition has no end, and will swallow the world in its wake! As long as that glorious flame rages within his heart, then so too shall it rage within mine! SO SAYS THE GREAT AND GLORIOUS LUDWI—"
And then Wolfgang went and stomped him on the head.
Like Roy, he was slightly dazed. Though it didn't last nearly as long. "HOW DARE YOU! I MAY ONLY BE A MERE VASSAL, BUT I WILL NOT BE TREATED IN SUCH A MANNER! SO SAYS LUDWIG!"
He leapt up in the air, flipping upside down and aiming for the other side as he unleashed a gout of flaming death from above. The flames were hotter than ever, scorching the road below and burning everything they touched to a crisp. Thankfully, Roon's shields helped protect them from the blast, but there was no telling how long they would last.
That left the Koopa King himself. He was spinning around like a whirling dervy, spewing out blasts of flame and tearing apart anyone who got close. Despite that, most of him was tucked away in his shell, safe from harm.
Or so he thought.
As big and strong as he was, his tail was a bit too big. Certainly not small enough to fit in his shell with the rest of him.
And so, Nancy and her stand were able to pin it down with ease.
He howled in pain, even more so as Roon shot it to pieces. The rest of him popped out of his shell, growing and howling like a wild beast as he tried to pull it out from where it'd been pinned.
"GRAAAAAGH! SUNNVA—! WAIT 'TILL I GET MY HANDS ON YOU! SOON AS I GET THE STAR ROD, YOU LOSERS ARE HISTORY!"
Still reeling from his mangled tail, he let out a wide blast of hot searing flame, belching it at Nancy and the others like a flamethrower. Even with Roon's shields, they could feel the heat. It wouldn't be long until they buckled from the sheer strain.
Still, they had their chance.
The question was if they dared to take it.

Crash Bandicoot-Let's Give it a Spin
Crash watched Roy wobble for a moment, then quickly took stock of the battle field. Lugwig was currently spouting flames from above, Morton was flying towards the edge of the road, and Bowser was spouting flames from the...ground, Crash guessed he would call the position. After another quick moment, Crash's eyes widened. The currently flying Morton was giving him ideas. These smaller guys DID look like awfully good projectiles!
Running up to the still stunned Roy, Crash spun into him with his signature Tornado Spin, coming at him from an angle that would cause Roy to go flying-directly into Bowser.
Seamstress let out an audible hiss at Bowser, left the needle where it was to continue to pin Bowser to the ground, and vaulted both itself and its User to the side, out of the way of the searing flames. Having landed next to where the knocked-out Kammy was, the Stand grabbed the blanket, which unraveled with but a thought, as Nancy thought to reuse the cloth to weave several substantially thick ropes.
The Stand ran rings around Bowser while trying to dodge the flames so as to further pin him down with rope restraints. "Now's the time!" Nancy shouted to the others. "Do it!"

After stomping on Ludwig, he jumped away, landing on one of the star-tipped poles next to the road. Evidently, just stomping on his head wasn't enough. Maybe the 'stomp three times' thing would still work, but given how little the first stomp seemed to affect him, Wolfgang wasn't sure.
Instead, Wolfgang jumped up to meet Ludwig in the air, coming in from Ludwig's side with a powerful flying kick. Star Haven was floating in the sky, so Wolfgang's goal was simple - launch Ludwig off the side and into the void below.
If successful, it would instantly take Ludwig out of the fight. While dropping someone thousands of feet seemed a bit harsh, there was no fall damage in Mario games, so Wolfgang was sure it would be fine.

"Ah well, I suppose loyalty is an admirable trait."
Discarding the now-useless hilt of the golden sword Tibalt drew the Probe from the pocket he had been holding it in and began a desperate charge towards the distracted Koopa King. With a deep breath he lept, trying to get onto the shell and climb it to deliver the required force for the Probe to work.
"I do apologize, but you're simply not yourself right now Bow-wow. Let me fix that."
It's clearly a case of backroom political albumizing.Jo
Meanwhile in the TARDIS, Jo had notably elected to stay behind. Most likely to keep Setsuna company, but she also made apparent her interest in speaking to The Doctor. She hung around the console room, studying the thing's multiple switches and levers as she sighed and leant upon it tiredly.
”...You know, I never really saw the show much. But you can't live in England for long without picking up a few things about it. So I do know this...” she began in regards to The Doctor, lifting her head and levelling her weary gaze at him. “You don't stay dead, do you? You get all... rewritten. How you talk, how you look, hell even your bloody favourite food. So with that all said...”
She exhaled, looking at one of the monitors of the console and staring at the faint reflection of herself within it.
“...How do you cope?”

borkAdam
"Hey, Leif?" Adam asked the Valkyrie, who was currently watching the chaos unfold with great interest.
"What is it, Sir?" Reginleif answered. If she was bothered by the nickname, she didn't show it.
"Shouldn't we, you know, go help?"
"Do wait a bit, Sir. I want to know what we have to work with, here"
There was a groan underneath them.
Morton Koopa was lied down on his belly, his shell currently serving as Reginleif's and Adam's chair, three very painful-looking bumb sticking out of his head, a fourth quickly joining their ranks after Adam hit the head of the Koopaling again, not taking his eyes away from the spectacle.

Unfortunately for Ludwig, Wolfgang hit home. He struck him square in the ribs, knocking him back even as a stray ember burnt his ankle. He flew towards the edge of the road, screaming as he grabbed onto the ledge and clung on for dear life. He was still in the game, but one false move would mean his end.
Meanwhile, with Morton out of commission and Roy in a daze, that left the King of The Koopas. One blast of the mind probe and the heroes would be home free.
But it wouldn't be so easy.
Just as Tibalt rushed for Bowser, Roy came spinning at him fast, pushed forward by Crash's whirlwind. The two collided, crashing into each other like a Cadillac ramming a pedestrian, sending both of them flying towards the edge. Roy stopped just short of falling to his doom, but Tibalt would need a helping hand.
But Bowser wasn't any closer to being free. With his tail nailed down and some crazy floating lady tying him up, there was barely room to struggle. But he wouldn't give up just yet. He belched out countless blasts of flame at Seamstress and the ropes, giving himself enough room to see his real target.
The one giving the orders.
He let out one concentrated gout of flame like a cruise missile. It ploughed through the ropes, blazing past Seamstress and barreling towards Nancy in the time it took to breathe. She'd already feel the heat, but if Seamstress or the others didn't act, she'd be crisipified.
TARDIS
Back in the Tardis, the Doctor was glued to the scanner. He was watching the action from afar, studying the battle, eyes darting to and fro with every move of the boar. Even when one of his pawns was hurt or in mortal peril, no matter how much he winced, he barely moved a muscle.
A master chessman at work.
"I'm not sure myself. Part of it has to do with perception. No matter how different one incarnation is from the last, each of us thinks of ourselves as our best possible self. Of course, that doesn't mean we can't develop regrets or self-loathing. Trust me when I say I speak from experience. But even when a new man steps in or the old one goes sauntering away, it isn't as though it's the end. For the moment is always prepared for. Though I suspect some of my future selves may start developing differing opinions on the subject."

Nancy Weaver—Indy Ploy
"Shit," was all that Nancy could say as the flames approached, and she froze in the heat of the moment, sure that she was going to die. And yet—
Death should not come easy for one such as I
Nancy felt, rather than heard, the thought running through her Stand's mind as it began to move, seemingly of its own volition. It had to move. How could it not? It was a Stand, the manifestation of a proud soul. Undoubtedly, it would protect its User to the best of its ability, right?
The Stand tackled Nancy to one side, flames scorching its side, which resulted in Nancy also receiving the same wounds. However, fortunately, she had not been incinerated in the blast. Perhaps the others would even be happy about it.
Seeing that Tibalt was also in trouble, Nancy reassumed control over her Stand—some strange "other" consciousness slipping inexorably away and out of her hands like water—and had it toss a rope over to where it was, while Nancy herself simply laid there on the ground, trying to hide herself from the rest of the combat and catch her breath.

Kanami growled in frustration as her attempt at chit-chat was interrupted. "Roadkiiiiiiiill," she whined, flipping into standing upright, "I wanted to talk to... him..." She trailed off as Crash spun into a tornadic whirl that sent Roy flying at — well, Bowser, but with hit detection and friendly fire on, it would be Tibalt. You pick up on that sort of thing pretty fast when you're reborn into a tank class and realize the old rules for the convenience of players no longer apply in real battles.
The blue-eyed woman sighed and rolled her eyes as if to say, "Fine, I'll do it." while the Landless King soared to the edge. Then her body blurred with speed as it had when she'd been dodging Bowser earlier. This was the movement-based invocation of <Long-Range Cover>, which would send her speeding in front of a chosen ally to intercept a hypothetical incoming attack. Only instead of the proper movement where she would arrive facing away from him with arms crossed defensively, she caught Seamstress' rope with one hand and reached up almost lazily into the air with the other to snag Tibalt's passing arm, then rotated her arm with the momentum to swung him back toward the walkway, using the rope as an anchor to prevent her own tumble back into the sky.
"Probe-y thing!" she demanded after he slid to a stop, extending her hand and grasping expectantly at an invisible object, "Gimmie, gimmie!"

“...you sound like you got it all under control. Though I s'pose it's your thing,” Jo smiled a little tightly, glancing for a moment at the scanner he was watching before sighing a little. “The moment's always prepared for... guess I better start preparing then, don't I?”
How many faces have they had so far, though? Damn it. Pain in the neck that I don't know him well enough. Guess I better catch up on the show sometime.
“Time travelling probably makes things easier,” she mused, lightly running her fingers over the console as she considered a few switches in an idle fashion. “I mean it gives you stuff to do. Places to explore... you could go anyplace and anytime. Me, though, I'm dull... normally stuck where I am. Unless I get lucky. Like... now, I s'pose...”
Whole new place to explore. Wonder how many eyes I'll get to see it through.
“...the difficult part is... I don't remember how it all started. Don't remember my name. Or what I stood for. How I used to cope. It's just all... gone...” she murmured, staring vacantly down at the console again as her hand instinctively gripped the pendant around her neck. “You're the Doctor. You've got a time and space machine. You try and make things right as they happen, yeah? That's your thing. Even if you change, you try and make things right. One way or another.”
She gestured to herself loosely, managing an odd little smile as she finally looked up at him again.
”I don't have a thing 'cept Jo. Jo don't mean anything. Doctor's a set of instructions, if you think about it. If you're lost for a moment, you can remind yourself of all the different meanings it can have. Jo's just a name I can remember easy. Most I got is a journal, and all the mes in there are just as lost as I am now. But I tell you what...”
She exhaled, standing up again as she stretched a little and moved to watch the scanner alongside the Doctor from over his shoulder.
“I got that urge to help out. Like if nothing else that's what I should do. So I think I'm gonna cling onto that. Make it what I stand for. 'Cause I honestly can't think of a better kind of person to work towards being. No matter who's face I'm wearing.”

"You're not wrong. I do try and make things right. To make things better. But I wasn't always the Doctor, you know. Oh, I was. But it didn't mean anything. It was a means to an end. But then I started traveling. And I had some sense knocked into me. And from that point on, I knew that no matter who I turned out to be, the Doctor should be something more. And so, I made a promise."
The Doctor cleared his throat, eyes looking foward as if seeing that promise in front of him.
"'Never cruel or cowardly. Never give up, never give in. And always be kind.' I'll admit, I have come close to breaking that promise more than once. Sometimes, I wonder if I have. But even so, I still try to uphold it as best I can. Even if my next self will no doubt want a piece of me. Because it's something worth living for."

For a moment, Tibalt had accepted his fate as he was sent flying from Roy's charge. But then with rope and haste he was pulled back into the fight. He was silent as he handed over the probe and got back up to his feet. It was only once he had safely handed it off that he spoke.
"Good luck. I'm gonna make sure no one managed to sneak around us to the rod okay?"
It's clearly a case of backroom political albumizing."I mean, if this works, you'll have plenty of time if the probe thing's enough to end the fight." Lee commented, quickly double checking his pockets for healing items.
"...Dangit, going to need to make more when I get back, almost out." Sure, he had magic, but healing and patching people up would have to wait until after the fight in that case as Lee focused on another buff/spell. Sure, he'd missed his opportunity to do it earlier but it wouldn't have done much if they couldn't take a hit. As purple bolts crackled around his fingers, a simple pose infused if Roon or anyone else needed to still go on the offensive which would probably cut down on damage but make their next few attacks more likely to paralyze/stun.
As for him, Lee stood at the ready to intercept attacks aimed at the injured or otherwise in a critical condition, taking a small breath and focusing to steel his resolve.
Hope you weren't expecting anything witty here. Maybe some day.Wolfgang
Wolfgang landed in a crouch, not so much as wincing at his burnt ankle. He patted his fur to make sure the fire didn't spread (not that he was flammable, but better safe than sorry), before noticing Tibalt, and sprinting to try and catch him.
Kanami turned out to be much faster, so Wolfgang changed course, heading for Roy. Roy was still standing, albeit dazed, and Ludwig was still clinging on. So Wolfgang decided to let the others focus on Bowser, while he finished getting the others out of the way.
He flipped over Roy, grabbing the Koopaling's head as he did, and with far more strength than his tiny body would suggest, Wolfgang flipped him head over tail and threw him at Ludwig, intending to send them both careening off the edge of Star Haven.
What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?Crash Bandicoot-Woah No!
Crash watched, his eyes wide and his jaw dropped in horror, as Roy and Tibalt collided, almost sending Tibalt falling off the walkway. Thankfully Kanami was able to rescue him in time, but still! Crash hadn't expected to accidentally fire at one of his teammates! He'd never have to account for friendly fire before! He'd have to be WAY more careful.
Immediately after that shocking event, another terrible thing happened. Bowser spat fire at Nancy, and she got hit! Thankfully her ghost friend was able to get her out of the way in time, but she still got injured. Crash's fuzzy brows slanted angrily. Someone needed to draw Bowser's fire away from the rest of the group, so Crash would step up. He was experienced at dodging projectiles, after all.
Running into a spot in Bowser's range where no one else was liable to get hit by fire when Bowser started firing, Crash reached into his pocket and grabbed a ripe Wumpa Fruit. Hefting the fruit in his hand for a brief moment, Crash chucked the fruit straight at Bowser to get his attention (dutifully making sure no one was in the way this time).

Ludwig held on for dear life, claws digging in deep as he tried to pull himself up. He was nearly there. Nearly about to save himself and burn away the insipid fools that would dare deny him his glory!
And then Roy went and knocked both of them off the edge like two screaming bulls in a China shop.
More was the pity.
Meanwhile, Bowser had torn or burnt away the last of the ropes. All that was left was the needle stuck in his tail. Still hurt like hell. But if he could just get it out—
And then someone threw some fresh fruit in his face.
The fruit splat upon Bowser's ugly mug, covering it in a purple fruity paste. He wiped it away from his eyes, growling and glowering with sheer rage.
"THAT DOES IT!" Bowser opened up his gaping maw, breathing blast after blast at the bandicoot. He still had a job to do. And he knew that wasting time burning up a bunch of punks popping up from the middle of nowhere was keeping him from doing it. But damn if he would let these assholes make a fool out of the Koopa King.

Crash Bandicoot-Fire Fight
Welp, Crash had successfully gotten Bowser's attention. As Bowser blew blasts of fire at him nonstop, Crash was kind of regretting it.
Crash dodged to the best of his ability, jumping like crazy, sliding under fireballs, double jumping when he could, doing everything he could to prevent himself from becoming bandicoot barbeque. He was keeping up with the barrage, but it was super close. Crash's sensitive nose could smell his fur starting to burn, so he hoped whoever had that probe thingy got to using it soon!
Star Haven
"You got it, King Raincloud!" Kanami agreed, taking the probe and pointing it at the ground to test something... then, having determined whether it was click-on-click-off or if she had to hold the trigger down, she turned toward Bowser, who was spitting fireballs at her anthropomorphized marsupial buddy. "And I know just the trick for this~!" she said to herself with a grin as she moved smoothly to the side to avoid a passing orb of flame, feeling the intense heat wash over her skin all the same.
Then she launched herself toward Bowser, and seemed to vanish, only to reappear speeding toward the Koopa King's head at one angle after another. These feinting afterimages hung in the air briefly and then vanished in succession as she came in for her true attack from the side to kick the overgrown turtle in the face. Yet even as her foot (presumably) collided with the villain's countenance, she vanished again, only to reappear behind his head.
These maneuvers, the skill known as <Phantom Step>, called for two rapid attacks from different angles after a series of superspeed fake-outs. Instead of attacking a second time, however, Kanami grabbed Bowser's left horn with one hand, braced her feet against a couple of spikes on his shell, then firmly pressed the business end of the mind probe against the side of his head and activated the device.
"Five!" she began to count down, using the talent for keeping track of seconds that she had honed through years of timing cooldowns for optimal skill rotations.

As soon as Kanami activated the mind probe, Bowser's eyes went blank. His body fell limp, tail drooping, mouth drooling. As soon as she let go, he fell to the floor with a thud, like a big sack of potatoes.
And like that, it was over.
...
Or was it?
Suddenly, a golden portal opened overhead, like a large rippling circle. An enormous sword popped out, thrusting out and launching like a missile. Straight at Kanami's throat.
Only to be deflected by one bigass oni and her bigass club. It cracked in two, the pieces dropping to the sea of stars below like paperweights. One little piece remained, sitting at Setsuna's feet.
"Hey, gang! Sorry I'm late! But we gotta go NOW!"
At her words, a horde of portals opened up in the skies above, the tip of some blade or weapon sticking out of each and every one. And they didn't look friendly. Setsuna raced back to the corridor, urging her friends and comrades to follow or risk getting skewered. "CMONCMONCMON!"

Nancy Weaver—Secret Joestar Technique
"Well, it's time to use a secret technique that Jospeh-san and Josuke-san taught me," panted Nancy as she got up and dusted herself off, wincing as she accidentally patted the burnt parts of herself. "Here we go..."
Seamstress actually managed to parry some of the swords launched at her User before the two high-tailed it, running as if their lives depended on it (and it did). "RUN AWAAAAAAAAAAAY—" Nancy cried, as if that would help anyone present deal with the current situation better.

Crash wiped his arm over his brow in relief, glad that was over. And then a sword came shooting at Kanami's throat, so maybe this wasn't as over as Crash thought. Thankfully Setsuna was there to stop it, but the appearance of several OTHER swords meant it was time to leave.
In a moment, Crash was booking it so hard, he had left a cloud of dust in his image behind, which immediately got dispersed by a sword that landed exactly where Crash had been standing not seconds before. Quickly nearing the portal, Crash jumped into the air and dove back through to the Tardis.
Wolfgang
It looked like their mission was a complete success. Roy and Ludwig were out of the way, allowing Kanami to probe Bowser without issue.
And then the sword came down, and Setsuna appeared, announcing it was time to go. Wolfgang was moving instantly, crossing the distance to the portal in a split second and leaping in.

"Da-da-da-daaa-da da-da-da-daaa!" Kanami cheered as Bowser went down like a lizard-shaped stocking full of coal. After stowing the probe-y thing, so absorbed was she in shadow-boxing an imaginary opponent in victory that she completely missed the luxuriously-colored portal opening overhead and the huge sword speeding out of it. She did see Setsuna rushing toward her with club raised, and assumed the oni girl was coming to finish Bowser off.
"Wha- no, you don't need to—" she began quickly, only to be cut off by Setsuna intercepting her actual target. "...Ah. Thanks for the save, Horn-chan! ...Welp, it's go time!" she declared as a huge mass of identical portals opened overhead. Snatching up the remaining bit of broken sword that had fallen next to where the red girl had been standing, she shoved it into her inventory and glanced around to see if any of her comrades needed help getting out, dodging an ornate-looking axe and a hammer with glowy bits at the ends in smooth, dance-like movements as she did.
"I like your weapon collection; it's very impressive!" she called out to the general vicinity as she continued to gracefully dodge the rain of deadly instruments, until she was absolutely certain all her other comrades were making it back to the TARDIS, "Maybe we can have a nice chat next time, instead of you trying to kill us! Okay?! Great, I'll be looking forward to it! Ciao!"
She blurred with speed one last time in a zig-zagging path for the Time Corridor.

Seeing as the others were already occupied with their own opponents, Nancy thought that it would be best to incapacitate Kammy further, and so simply knocked her out with her wooden bokken before retreating from the scene.
Then, she noticed that Bowser's tail was sticking out, so she sent Seamstress over with its giant needle to pin it to the ground somehow, with great alacrity and precision. This was perhaps a bit brutal, but as Bowser was the biggest threat here, Nancy didn't feel all too bad about it.
