Opening.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIt strikes me that this is the same thing as Not Using the "Z" Word, i.e. calling supernatural creatures not by their common name ("zombie", "angel", and so forth) but by something made-up. The z-word page is not limited to zombies.
And yeah, the name is a bad snowclone. I think we should merge this into Not Using the "Z" Word.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Added banner to the page.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.I looked at the description, and after reading it, I agree with merging it with Not Using the "Z" Word.
This sentence (the first in the last paragraph) stood out (bolded by me for emphasis):
I'm positive the "not using the 'G' word" part is a rhyme-based play on Not Using the "Z" Word's name rather than being a coincidental reference to its Trope Namer. In Not Using the "Z" Word's Trope Namer (Shaun of the Dead), "Z" is pronounced "zed" instead of "zee" because it's a British movie; "Z" and "G" mainly rhyme in American English.note
Edit: Also, the first sentence of Not Using the "Z" Word's description:

You can't always get what you want.Canadian here.
Both "zed" and "zee" are used to refer to the last letter of the alphabet, though "zed" is preferred.
Kirby is awesome.Changed "only" to "mainly" in my previous post; my wording took a quantity-over-quality approach because it was past 2 AM when I posted that. I've actually heard people from Commonwealth countries say "zee" on YouTube (with Brits leaning toward "zed" more strongly than Canadians); I was mainly referring to how "Z" and "G" always rhyme in American English, since Americans exclusively refer to the former letter as "zee".
Side note: While I went to Nova Scotia for about a week in 2003, I'm positive the alphabet never came up. I do know I didn't know about the Lunenburg accent until I read about it on Wikipedia, since the only accent I heard in Lunenburg differed very little (if at all) from the accent of the other parts of the province I went to (Wikipedia refers to the Lunenburg dialect as moribund).

You can't always get what you want.I'm fine with merging with Not Using the "Z" Word. Funnily the wick check sees Charmed (1998) as a ZCE, but it's actually one of the examples mentioned in the description: "Whitelighter" in lieu of "angel". This same example is already on Not Using the "Z" Word.
The series page is ZCE because it was improperly crosswicked from the trope page (which does have context).
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Bumping. Is there enough consensus for a single-prop?
I'm back!Looks like everybody agrees so far, so putting up a crowner to make it official sounds good.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Bumping and hollering to hook.
I'm back!I thought we'd already closed this one. Huh.
I'd like to apologize for all this.Long overdue hook.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportCalling in favor of merge. Let's do this.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportOnly 73 wicks to go through, including 5 from a redirect.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportWhat do we do with the AATOFOVS wicks?
I'm back!If those are archive pages, they can't be changed at all.
You can't always get what you want. Now that we're pretty much done, are we cutting or converting to a redirect? Thinking cut because the name's not clear and inbounds are small.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportI say redirect.
Crown Description:
Vote up for yes, down for no.
The title is a snowclone of Lowest Common Denominator, which is not closely related enough to the trope. As a result, a little under half of the wicks reflect incorrect or uncertain usage. Some of the misuse misconstrues it in a manner related to Lowest Common Denominator.
This thread found that Cosmic Balance inappropriately redirected here, so the wick check includes the five wicks to it (all of which were misuse, of course).
