I really like the world building. Its very obviously DQ III Inspired, but the whole Dragon Knight stuff definitely seemed to influence the Dragovian Saga of DQ IV- VI.
Watch SymphogearEpisode 23: Here’s the customary tale about someone finding out they’re not human and having an existential crisis about it. It’s hardly ever done well and unfortunately this show is not an exception.
I’m embarrassed to admit that I’ve not made the connection between Baran and Dai before. Like Baran does kinda look like an older Dai, it’s so obvious.
I don’t know what the civilians were smoking, if I saw someone like Dai delivering that crazy beatdown to a hydra I’d be cheering my lungs out.
Yeah, Dai's crisis of identity could have been handled a bit better (and the manga has a slightly better direction of the scene), though I really like the worldbuilding and the stuff about the Dragon Knight
Also, props to Popp's voice actor, he's really good at conveying his emotions
There isn't an impossible dream, there are only people who give upEpisode 24 is out
So yeah, the Dragon Knight is basically the Avatar of Dragon Quest
And what a great moment for Crocodine! I love how he has become Big Damn Heroes personified

There isn't an impossible dream, there are only people who give upNext week is the big Sakuga fest between Crocodine and Baran, and also the point where the new Anime will adapt the manga more directly, as this was the point where the Og anime back in the 90's was canceled due to poor Tv ratings and had to have an anime original ending.
Watch SymphogearEpisode 25: Baran takes some cues from Dragonball. How fitting.
Wait Dai you’re not supposed to interrupt Baran’s attack animation! That’s just rude. Cool animation in the fight against Baran.
Speaking of rude, wow Popp you need to pop some chill pills. You might burst a vein once you find out Baran is bringing his minibosses along with him next time. Hoping Hyunckel and Maam swoop in to save the day.

Oh yes, the show indeed has quite a few Dragon Ball references (they were running on WSJ at the same time, after all)
I love how Baran decides to remove Dai's power of friendship by making him forget his friends, and everything else as well actually. In fact, the manga at this point lists Dai as level 1
I didn't expect to see the three Dragon Knights in this episode, I expected it to end with Dai's memory erasure, but I can't wait to see them in action
There isn't an impossible dream, there are only people who give upOh, finally these fights! I loved the three dragon riders, and their fight against Popp and Hyunkel
I admit the pacing is pretty quick, especially in the early parts, but the series remains enjoyable (I still recommend reading the manga). Speaking of, they cut out a scene in which, while Baran recovers, Galdandy goes to a village of humans and burns it down just because he feels it (to drive home how much he hates humans); he comes back just in time and, when Baran points the burning village, Galdandy acts as if he didn't notice. Baran knows is Galdandy but doesn't scold him and says the burning village will be their war signal

There isn't an impossible dream, there are only people who give upEpisode 27 is out, though to me it felt pretty slow, in the manga these fights were much more dynamic. Also, if I recall, in the manga it's Popp who cuts off Galdandy's wing by flying through it, and then finishes him off just like in the anime. The fights were still very fun to watch
There isn't an impossible dream, there are only people who give upWait, upon reread there is a dialogue of Hyunckel in the manga that might hint it was his attack that cut Galdandy's wing, but the paneling made it seems like Pop used semi-ruura to fly through the wing. Not very clear
What is iai? Is it something from Dragon Quest?
There isn't an impossible dream, there are only people who give up
Popp understood what was happening, so he flied upwards to force Galdandy to spread his wings. In a way, it's an Awesomeness In Analysis moment for Popp too.
Also think Roronoa Zoro's Shishi Sonson
and Rashōmon
.

I assure you, I'm perfectly trustable personOk, I'm caught up with the current episodes. The Baran arc is where I started really liking the manga, waaaay back then, so I'll probably follow the anime more closely from now on.
Kind of a pity that they didn't show Galdandy burning down the village, since it would really have highlighted his later hypocrisy when he cries about the dragon, but the rest is all pretty good! Really looking forward to the next episodes.

A spunky go-getter cleric is exactly what Dai’s party could use right now.
Leona should have bought the tiger costume, who cares if it looks tacky if it has high DEF! Speaking of tacky, hahaha Dai. I guess his fashion sense is appropriate for his age though. And he ends up scrapping most of the bulk for a streamlined, valkyrie-esque look.
Popp is slowly but surely becoming a badass to be reckoned. He took on five dragons!
