[up] Oh yeah, Popp revealing to have taken the magic shield and reflect Vearn's attack right to his face is awesome. And is truly satisfying to see Vearn, who until before was an invincible villain, gets a taste of his own medicine grin

To me the first big moment is what happened in the last episode (Popp beginning his development and his entire fight with Crocodine), but with Baran we definitely bring things to another level. And yes, every arc has at least a great moment which I can't wait to see animated

The New villain reminds me of Psaro from the games.

Episode 10: The Legion Commanders are revealed. Okay, why the heck is Hyunckel the leader of the undead? Guess we’ll find out next episode. Baran looks human too, I think that’s a shame. Flazzard and Mystvearn make up for it with their kooky JRPG monster looks.

Also gonna show my appreciation for Maam with those spear (?) moves. Probably my favorite character skillset-wide. Love that Popp was savvy enough to detecthow obviously villainous Hyunckel was.

[up][up]Bee? (also, irocically enogh, Dragon quest IV came out around the same period (the manga started in 1989), so it's probably a coincided

[up]I remember you mentioned the leader of the undead was the one you wanted to see the most and I expected this reaction (I too was a bit disappointed, but didn't want to say it yet). There's a pretty good explanation though. Also, yeah Baran looks human but to me he makes up by being very cool, he looks like a dragon tamer or at least that was my first impression

Btw, with this episode we all learn that Todoroki is a freeboter tongue

Yep, a bit disappointed that the leader of the Undead was a regular living human. Nothing some backstory can't fix.

Also forgot to mention that Crocodine is totally gonna make a comeback.

I'm looking forward to what kind of voice they give Kill=Vearn. I'm personally hoping for a Tim Curry-esque voice.

[up]Oooh, I could see that, but not sure if it would work in Japanese. It would probably will in an English dub, but I doubt it will happen with Crunchyroll pretending Dai doesn't exists :( Thankfully for me, an Italian dub is much more likely tongue

Episode 11: Overall, I find Hyunckel to be so-so. Also don’t dig Crocodine’s moment there.

Um why exactly couldn’t they take Maam with them? Well whatever. Looks like Dai and Popp will run into the princess next episode.

Personally, I really liked Crocodine's scene, it truly showed how he had a change of heart (thanks to a fantastic Big Damn Heroes moment) and how his opinions on human changed :)

Hyunkel has never been one of my favorites because he's not the kind of characters I like a lot, but I remember his character arc being well written, and likes how his story makes him a foil to Dai, which is also why Dai couldn't get angry at him and activate his crest, really cool!

Episode 12: Bro, Popp, you are making great strides here. And all it took was love. Seriously, props for thinking of a way to counter Hyunckel.

Speaking of love, Maam predictably refuses to stay a damsel in distress and escpaes on her own. That's just cool.

The action scenes in this show are so so so good. Next episode seems like it'll be even better.

Yeah, the action is pretty good. Though I see they're minimizing the frames in most non-action scenes (understandable, it's likely gonna be 100 episodes). And really liked the training between Dai and Pop, it's kinda like they've grinded and leveled up [lol]

Another thing that I like in this series fights is that often they have a bit of strategic imput (even the training is made specifically for Hyunkel's weak spot and not just "be stronger") or at least a very creative use of an ability, it keeps the fights pretty entertaining

Wow! That's a pretty cool use of cgi, I really like the effort they're putting into the animation! Especially for the fight scenes.

Ando so even the Hyunkel arc is over, I forgot to ask at the end of the Crocodine arc but what did you think of those two?

I personally liked both of them, the Hyunkel arc maybe even moreso than when reading it the first time (the emotional music helped alot) even if it's still probably my least favorite arc of the series (still very good tho). These two arcs show that the series has very good characters that perfectly holds up the pretty standard story, I really liked Crocodine's, Hyunkel's and especially Pop's development, and the interations between the demon army generals are great, as it makes them appear like an actual, dynamic group.

The fights were also pretty good, I like how every fight has a bit of strategy or a creative imput to make a new skills, and the fact it's all mostly treated like a JRPG is pretty fun (such as Flazzard using the wing-thing to teleport)

The Hyunckel vs Dai fight is probably my favorite fight in the show so far. As you said, great use of CGI to animate the sword duel, and the Lightning Strash was super hype.

Truth be told I found Hyunckel's arc kind of corny, but he ends up wading into MAGMA to save Dai, Popp and Maam. What a way to go. I also like how Flazzard is a backstabbing piece of crap, and it's comforting to see he'll be getting his just desserts soon. It's always nice to see that the enemy isn't a united monolith; it makes the dynamics of the Generals a lot more interesting to watch.

Haha I also noticed the little feather thing, it was amusing.

[up]Yeah, his all story is pretty corny (and the soul shell might be one of the most convenient things ever seen in a manga), but to me is the heartwarming kind of corny, so I still like it [lol]

Let's let the studios rest.

(Also helps they resolved Hyunckel's arc in the latest episode, otherwise the wait would have been more painful)

[up]Oh, yeah, they're doing a good job!

Btw, I think I never said it before but this adaptation is pretty fast paced as it covers about 3-4 chapters per episode yet, except some strange editing between different scenes it doesn't feel rushed at all, very good job

And finally we begin the Flazzard Arc

Pop is adorable: he comforts Maam and at the same time feels guilty for having "helped his rival" XD

And always loved Flazzard since his appearance, he's a badass, cruel and clever ice-fire monster (If I were him, I would sue Todoroki for plagiarism tongue)

Flazzard is my favorite of the Generals so far. Just a cocky, powerful jerk. Did you see his magic trick?! I'd pay to see more of that.

Leona must be exhausted dealing with knights who act like petulant children. Though entering a deep-sleep curse might not be the answer to that...

[up]Oh, I forgot to mention Leona. Love how the scene confirms she's an excellent ruler, but the character writing is easily the best part of the series.

And speaking of, Flazzard in this episode shows how much of a sadistic monster he is. And Leona shows her usual altruism mixed with intelligence, as she realizes they currently can't beat Flazzard.

I remember how much I loved the two anti-magic pillars emerging from the ground, it gave me a true feeling of high-fantasy (also, I add it to the "Dai did it first" things, sorry Punk Hazard, Dai did an half-fire half-ice island 20 years in advance tongue)

[up] I think you meant Maam?

Maam was the MVP this episode. Who am I kidding, she's always the MVP in their party.

Flazzard continues to be cool. Hot? Half-hot half-cold? Whatever, he rocks.

Yeah, I meant Maam, my mistake.

This episode she was definitely the MVP but, as someone who's read the entire series, I can't vote anyone but Popp as the MVP of the party

Episode 16: Popp's time to get his butt whipped into shape.

I really do like Hadlar and his cronies. Great idea to hunt down Dai directly. Kinda wondering how Dai and his party will manage with Hadlar, three other commanders and their armies gunning for them.

Yeah, I didn't think Dai would have to deal with them so soon.

I mean, the only extra assets here are Hadlar and Zaboera, since Crocodine and Hyunkel are AWOL and Baran and Myst-Vearn are off cracking another hard target. That's a significant escalation, but they're relatively known quantities.

What's precedent ever done for us?
