Hrmmm.
This looks to be taking pages from Dark Souls, Devil May Cry, and maybe NieR?
There's no party members and it's definitely a lot more grisly than other main Final Fantasy titles.
Apparently, the director of FFXVI, Hiroshi Takai, whose references include being the battle director for Romancing SaGa and the director for The Last Remnant while the producer is Naoki "Yoshi-P" Yoshida who produced A Realm Reborn and Heavensward.

I'm waiting until we learn more to get excited. Trailer isn't really doing much for me.

Trans rights are human rights.Ah, and the battle director is Ryota Suzuki, whose references include Devil May Cry 5, Dragon's Dogma, and Marvel vs. Capcom 2.
Hence why everything's faster-paced and brutal than the average FF mainline title.
Noice.
My only real issue is the art direction is a bit on the bland side. It looks too much like "generic wrpg game" for my taste. Everything else I'm up for.
I'm playing Dragon's Dogma right now, and XVI looks exactly like a turbo-charged version of it in every way.
Or maybe Dark Souls May Cry?

I don't think it looks that much like Souls, personally.
Yeah, design-wise the main character looks kinda bland, hopefully he makes up for it character-wise. And as much as I love Noctis and the bro’s, I hope the party is a bit more diverse than just different flavors of bishounen
yeah, it looks much more DMC-flavored than Souls

GOH! JII! RAH!I think he looks fine?
i. hear. a. sound. All I can say is it looks gritty.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I thought so as well. Reminds me of Shadowbringers official depiction of Wo L.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. The more we learn about this game the more I expect everyone to start going "Oh. The dev team have been playing The Witcher 3 a lot."
Anyways +1 to bland looking protag.
Bleye knows Sabers.I think his older form looks cool enough but his young self looks kind of plain.
Although part of me thinks this may be because armor may change your looks.
Looks like it's gonna be pretty dark.
What with the protagonist talking about planning to kill someone and all.
One Strip! One Strip! Is this the first M-rated Final Fantasy anything?
It's been 3000 years…Type-0 was rated M I think. I don't think we know if this one is yet.
Yoshi-P and the Final Fantasy XIV team being behind XVI is a big plus for me.
A dude's head exploded and covered a small child in blood. Hell yeah this is gonna be M-rated.
It's been 3000 years…Seems like this is XIV but a mainline title especially with the director.
Mileena MadnessY'all, Yoshi-P is not the director. He is the producer.

Trans rights are human rights.I’m disturbed by the kid’s Vocal Dissonance. Not sure if it’s deliberate.
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.Kinda torn on this.
On the one hand the setting, story, and general aesthetic all seem intriguing.
On the other hand the main character seems kinda bland, and at the moment it doesn't look like there are any additional party members. On top of which I was kinda hoping for a stronger female presence after the all-male party of XV.
"If you are going through hell, keep going." - Winston ChurchillWell that was a good trailer. The combat looked really fun and I like the more medieval/dark fantasy look of the world. The character designs looked a little bland and I'm worried about the apparent lack of party members but overall I'm excited.
A new entry in the long-running franchise, Final Fantasy XVI was officially unveiled at today's PS 5 event. Looks like the game is going further into the action route as well, and seems to be going back to a more medieval times a la the Classics and FFXIV.
