Genshin Impact

Okay, I don’t get it. Every time I try, the download stops after 10 minutes and deboots the hard drive partition I try to install it on. Do I have to install it on the C: drive and nowhere else?

I've read around that it acts funky if you try to install it to anything other than C:, so yeah, that's the best place to install it.

I’m a bit scared though. If it does the same thing to C: that will be no laughing matter. =[

Well, on Android, the download is 6GB immediately right after logging in... My internet is acting up right now even.

I've been waiting for this game since a long time, and there's the other possible issue that Genshin "might" still run poorly after all that huge download.

For context from fellow HI3 fans who already got into this game on phones... Say, if my phone can run the Post-Honkai Odyssey mode in HI3 just fine, is Genshin just as graphically-demanding/RAM-intensive as PHO?

Alright, finished downloading and actually had a chance to play. The story looks interesting, and main characters that are more than just blank spots is nice. Gameplay is a little clunky in places, but far from terrible. The Gatcha system actually seems kind of okay? You get characters that you can play as with it, so it feels better than "here's a card, basically the same as five other cards you've already got." I'm not very far yet, so we'll see.

My current complaint is that movement is too slow unless you're sprinting, and then the sprint meter is too small. Hardly a huge problem, and at least there are common fast travel points.

I heard there's some kind of malware (put by Mihoyo themselves) in there...

Movement speed is indeed low, I'm guessing since moving too fast will melt the phones it's meant to be played on.

It's especially funny when one of the characters is introduced as a "Cavalry Captain" but then he never even has the opportunity to ride a horse.

What, the D: drive thing?

Well, it took 8-ish hours to download, but it runs fine on my PC. Which is good, since I accidentally downloaded the installer while trying to find the system requirements and decided to just roll with it

I think I'm still in the tutorial, but I'm having fun so far. Applying gacha game systems to what's otherwise a straight BotW clone feels odd, though. One's about scavenging from the land, the other the size of the player's wallet

I absolutely adore that this game occasionally gives you the option to say silly crap.

I am also incredibly gay for Kaeya.

The game keeps throwing primogems at me, but what am I supposed to do with them?

I'm not spending any more of them until Beidou is on rate-up.

You use Primogems to buy Fates, which are used to roll in the gacha. IIRC it takes around 1760 Primogems to do a 10x roll. I would suggest either saving up for another banner or rolling in the Venti banner. Also, there's two types of Fates: One that can only be used in the standard (and starter) banner, and one that can only be used in the limited-time banners.

Kind of, but with an extra hoop. It's more like if you had to use the Saint's Quartz in FGO to buy Tickets, rather than use the SQ directly.

Already got into the game, finally... But as expected, even at the lowest settings, Genshin really makes my phone heat up faster than Honkai... This is really a Tech-Demo Game.

On Android, what frames-per-second does the game run with by default? Sadly unlike Honkai, there doesn't seem to be an option to choose between 30/60 FPS.

Some of the challenge timers are way too tight :/. Like, I'm not sure the triple seal quest is even possible to complete if you're not grossly overleveled. Meanwhile, I'm having some trouble getting through Lisa's quest, just because 30 seconds to kill 10 slimes is about 5 seconds short of reasonable

Gotta remember to mix them elemental attacks.

Although it can be a real pain to charge your bursts after you fail.

...It's definitely bad balance, not just me needing to get good (though that helped). The challenge that was giving me so much trouble was immediately followed by a challenge to kill an Abyss Cryo Mage in 90 seconds. Which is, you know, trivial

Okay in her quest people pronounce Xiangling's name starting with both a "Juh" sound and a "Sh" sound I'm confused enough by Chinese as is how should it be pronounced.

Speaking of her, I need to rush into Adventurer rank 20. Without Beidou (Don't know how to pronounce that either) I think she's gonna be my fave.

Say, if I don't get any *5 characters in the early gacha, should I continue playing or restart?

Thus far, I have not found the game terribly difficult just with 4*s. And the odds for a 5* are about half of a percent

...Getting a healer is probably a good idea, though

Who are the healers? I only know Barbara.
