The RNG for the gacha in this game is very strange; videos of whales throwing away the price of an expensive car indicate that it's skewed towards late in the range, giving a 5-star around 75-79 more often than not. (My one Mona was at 77.) They claim it's a "base" 0.6% chance with an overall rate of 1.6%, which is way off if you assume that means 0.6% every time until you hit number 90, so there's something fishy about it, but no one seems to know exactly how it works.
In any case, I'm probably playing the waiting game for a while. Supposedly the pity whatever-it-is sticks around for new banners, so if I can save up enough the next 5-star should be a featured one. Even if I wanted Klee, I don't have enough to get to that magic 75-range.
Better to go on the rateup banner, as then the pity rate will carry over as far as consensus goes, so you'll eventually get the guaranteed unit.
Speaking of, I rolled Mona... I wasn't too happy. Fortunately, the first pack I bought (thanks, first-purchase bonus) got me Klee, so I now have who I want. EXPLOSIONS!
I'm almost at 100 intertwined fates and I'm still refusing to spend a single one.
You are not alone.Yeah, I think I'll be saving my Primogems. Helps that repeatable chests drop them.
So, let's hang an anchor from the sun... also my TumblrJust to do a gacha comparison, I counted up the number of "4-stars" (equivalent of 5-stars) I got in Magia Record (similar to Fate/GO) over about a year of playing, with multiple long breaks, and without buying anything except the monthly pass one time near the end.
Total: 28, including dupes. That's about one every 2 weeks (including all the time I wasn't actually playing). Its gacha rates are actually worse, with the same 0.6% chance and a pity timer of 100 instead of 90, so that gives some idea of how many "free" draws it gives you.
Genshin, if we take their word for the overall rate of 1.6%, would take about 1750 wishes to get that many 5-stars. If you keep Welkin Moon running, do all commissions, and clear the entire Moon Spire every 2 weeks, matching that rare character count would take roughly four years. At about one every 50 days.
(Events add a handful more, but so far this seems negligible; new regions will also add more from chests and quests, though the time gap between those is likely to be pretty long. Have not yet seen evidence that chests respawn at all, or that you can get more gems from them when they do. You can also get 120 wishes a year from the stardust shop, half-and-half character and permanent banners, though I'm not sure if free-ish players can afford to buy them all.)
The silver lining, I guess, is that outside of the Abyss most battles are pretty easy, and there's no Pv P, so 5-stars are more for prestige than anything practical. Still, though... hopefully they make this system a little less brutal.
Chests definitely respawn. There's a Ruin Guardian over in the Thousand Winds Temple area that I fought like the second day I was playing and looted the precious chest that spawned. Went back again today to beat it up for some chaos devices, new chest.
That's not counting the far more minor chests dotted over central Monstadt that I know I would have already cleared and are back and giving out shiny new gems.
Yeah, the guy's part of an event
Find him somewhere in the world, trade in the requested items, and you get to pick a box. Contents vary, but at least 30 Primogems is always part of the package. Only available for the next week.

I'll have to keep an eye on that, then.
Goddammit, Schezo... || *insert incredibly thirsty copypasta about Dr. Ratio*Looking at the Teyvat Travel Guide...
uh, I guess we can see where Klee gets it?

I have made the decision, in all my illustrious glory, that 3 players is the ideal multiplayer scenario.
2 players just ain't that different from flying solo and 4 players is just one continuous color explosion. 3 players brings that chaotic energy without feeling completely overwhelming.
Granted, then you have the host advantage of having 2 characters. Work it out!
You are not alone.
