Genshin Impact

It’s probably time to make a thread about this open-world, anime-style gacha game by Mihoyo that kinda sorta takes place in the Honkai-verse? Maybe?

I definitely dig the aesthetic at least. Not sure about the gameplay, though… since it’s apparently free-to-play and available on PC, I’ll probably try it out for a few days at least.

Having played the beta for a while then stopping cause I realized I would end up doing the same things over again when the game officially released, it's not bad for a free game.

The combat isn't as fluid as HI 3, but the elemental reaction system is pretty neat, and is integrated nicely with the environment. Like the game actually tells you to use electro characters when fighting enemies near water.

Also you can climb everything. Literally everything.

I gotta admit I’m more interested in the exploration aspect than in the combat, so it’s nice if the freedom is… three-dimensional.

I know the question is gonna be asked at some point, might as well get it out of the way now: how does this compare to a similar setup/design aspect such as Breath of the Wild?

I'm really looking forward to this. I just hope the combat is actually as versatile and skill-intensive as they seem to be making it out to be.

They're running a special lotto campaign to win in-game items as part of the launch hype.

I’ve created an account, because why not. I have no idea what any of those objects are, but I’ll figure it out when I start playing.

And damn, the manga on the website are even translated in French (much better French than in HI3, thankfully ). They didn’t do things halfway.

I don't know why but even though I'd signed up for the beta (Which I couldn't play because I'd signed up to beta test the iPhone version but they sent me the PC version and I couldn't run it.) the site wasn't recognizing my e-mail...despite me still getting e-mails from the site. Had to log in and relink my e-mail. I'm not sure how this campaign works but I'm looking forward to the full release next week.

Well looks like I can't play this game on my old but trusty laptop since I did a system requirement scan on my laptop if it can run Genshin Impact and it reveal that my graphics card isn't powerful enough to run the game yet everything else including processing speed is OK.

I could buy a new android phone that can run the game but my old one is still reliable and can run both Arknights and Girls Frontline so I have no plans to replace it for the time being.

It’s crazy to think that a computer would be unable to run a game that works on a phone…

Extremely reliable and trustworthy anonymous twitter sources have pored over the character list for me and only found one (1) baddie so far. Mayhaps others have more step on me energy force of personality then they let on though.

I really enjoyed the lead girl in Honkai Impact so hopefully the core cast is as entertaining here.

Alright, when does this arrive on SEA?

I'm interested in trying the game because of the Herrscher of the Void look-alike... Heh.

I'm gonna have to take out some music files from my phone later to make space for Genshin and see if I vibe with the gameplay.

Apparently the game's not compatible with my phone and my computer can't run it so I'm waiting for the Switch release, whenever that is.

I started it and holy shit the opening cutscene is laggy as hell on my phone (iphone 6s), this doesn't bode well for gameplay

so laggy that it can't even get past the first frame lmao

EDIT: and on a reload it immediately froze on a very white screen

yeah I'm going to have to wait until I can get back in front of a ps4 at this rate

Just finished downloading on my PS 4. My hopes are tempered since this can be played on a phone at all, but let's do this.

the opening cutscene now lags on the second frame, progress!

EDIT: I have discovered that this game cannot fully load any background on my phone otherwise it collapses into the incredible lag, so that seals it, I'll have to wait for the ps4 version

Holy crap this has English voice acting. Pleasantly surprised, games this ANIME are getting it rarer and rarer nowadays.

EDIT: Holy-Yeah the PS 4 version is the way to go. I absolutely recommend playing this on as large a screen as possible.

Huh, 12 hours to install the game… that’s not normal, is it?

Depends on which platform I think and apparently the download servers are melting right now

I know people were complaining PC takes up more data (11-12 GB) compared to mobile (6-8 GB)

I’m on PC. Server saturation might indeed be an explanation…

And I’m not at all surprised that phones have trouble running the game. >.>

What's the download size for phones?

I'm afraid that this will consume all of my bandwidth/data for the entire week.

At least on ios, it's 2.53 GB for the base install, another 85 MB for required data, and 4.1 GB for full installation.

About Genshin Impact character page, I suggest making separate pages for the playable characters based on the region they're introduced in.

Downloading for PC. Yeesh, that's a big one. It does look pretty, though.
