I mean, the 16/32 thing isn't a random number. It's specifically made so that there can be two sides with both a winner's and a loser's bracket with no interference. If we DID make a third and we wanted to add more while still keeping the viable bracket structure, we'd be forced to have a whopping 64 contenders.
