This thread is meant to be a place for people to ask questions and request discussion about existing page images they have concerns about; this can be used to determine if a thread should be made to replace an image.

For example, questions about Just a Face and a Caption concerns, whether a picture requires additional context, whether a picture demonstrates all of the necessary aspects or a trope, or whether a trope better demonstrates a related trope can be asked here.

Mod edit: Before posting here, please check the page source to see if the page has previously been discussed in Image Pickin'. Your question may already have been brought up in a prior thread.

Is it just me, or is the image on the recently-launched Balloon Delivery a bit hard to make out? I can see the balloons, but since the object being lifted is white and the background is white, it clashes a little and is a bit of an eyesore.

I could have sworn there was another suggestion posed somewhere that I think is far better, but where it was posted is escaping me.

[up]It's rather bad quality, but I can still see it's papers attached to balloons.

Huh, weird to have an image that actually looks better on night vision. I'm sure we can pull other art of that balloon, though.

How do people feel about Breaking and Bloodsucking? I see breaking in, but no bloodsucking (and this guy doesn't have vampire teeth). Is this really illustrative?

[up] he has a bit of a vampire look to him, still it could be improved I'd say it's a "keep until better suggested".

Mr. Smith I know what this is referring to but does it show "this is an alias" to those not familiar with the work?

Muggle in Mage Custody, I know this isn't literally about physical prisons but I am not sure this even shows the "bound by a deal/curse" aspect?

[up] Good point about Mr. Smith. I'd expect the page to attract misuse for "any character named Smith", and the image isn't helping.

About Muggle in Mage Custody, I'd argue the image is misleading. If you don't know the story, then the image doesn't show any custody. If you do know the story, then the Disney version of Pinocchio is not an example (although the original novel is).

I think it’s behind them but you can’t really tell it’s armored.

My thread on Origins Episode got closed too quickly, so I'll ask around here before I attempt another one (if I do).

But seriously, who the fuck is this guy? The trope is about telling the origin of a pre-established character. But everything about the image- from the giant question marks, the "who? what? where? how? why?", the origin being referred to as "secret", and the character in question being completely covered up- invokes a feeling of mystery rather than familiarity.

The trope Adoptive Peer Parent is "a relatively young person (usually in their teens or early 20s) gets a Promotion to Parents over other characters who are roughly the same age".

So, how is this image not JAFAAC?

They’re posed like a family and the “parents” don’t look old. Not the worst.

[up] That would be Absurdly Youthful Mother, then (which also covers fathers, btw); because the adoptive peer part is not shown in the image.

Neither of them really resemble the "child" and they look way too young to have a kid that old.

~Make Mine Media: (7165) it's understandable to be frustrated when a thread doesn't agree with your take, and if you do find a stronger image that can be a valid reason to open another thread but please act civilly when doing so and when posting anywhere in the forums, please be polite it has been noted that the linked comment was somewhat abrupt and over-complaining in nature. Also, to note, forum goers do tend to react negatively when someone opens another thread relatively soon after the same trope has had one when they are the same person who opened the last one, especially in cases when the forum consensus went against them. Just a heads up.

Re Adoptive Peer Parent I think it's kind of weak, but acceptable. The art style doesn't make their ages particularly clear and I don't think the pose definitively indicates "family", but in context it works well enough.

@ Make Mine Media I disagree with your interpretation of the image. To me, it looks like a character who was established but whose identity was unknown. The question marks are representing questions about the character being answered, which helps visually strengthen the origin aspect beyond the literal text that says "Origin Story".

It also isn't indicative of a character's first appearance to me. You don't have questions about a character you've never met.

I think the current is actually really strong, for what it is and how many small parts the trope has. Like, maybe there's a different image, but I think any swap will be lateral.

Feeling Origins Episode is too text-reliant and looks more like The Reveal than "episode", but the ship has sailed and it would require some other better image.

Re Origins Episode: I do feel this is basically just relying on the text, which feels weak to me. But yes, a better replacement would be required.
