This thread is meant to be a place for people to ask questions and request discussion about existing page images they have concerns about; this can be used to determine if a thread should be made to replace an image.
For example, questions about Just a Face and a Caption concerns, whether a picture requires additional context, whether a picture demonstrates all of the necessary aspects or a trope, or whether a trope better demonstrates a related trope can be asked here.
Mod edit: Before posting here, please check the page source to see if the page has previously been discussed in Image Pickin'. Your question may already have been brought up in a prior thread.

Does Dead-End Job make sense if you aren't familiar with the Harry Potter series?
Uh, nope. I'm very familiar and even then it took me way too long to get it.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallBy pulling meaning starting a thread where everyone can re-vote to pull.
The image could benefit from some "year X" hover text, the trope is not really related to "DADA Jinx".

TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupAm I missing something with Dumbass Teenage Son? All it shows for me is laziness and unpleasantness, not the "dumbass" part. Also, the art style kinda makes the guy's age seem a little bit ambiguous, but that's probably just me.
I'm definitely not seeing the "dumbass teenage" part
ETA: I remembered he's canonically 20 years old, so it seems weird that that's the image in the first place. I know we have This Image Is Not an Example, but that's for when non-fans of a work can make an educated guess about the validity.

Your goateed philistine is sashaying towards us. | 🧱I think it works well enough. While virtually all examples of Dumbass Teenage Son are inevitably unintelligent, the stereotype also encapsulates an assortment of different traits:
He's lazily playing video games on his bed, giving the finger to his mother, while surrounded by junk food, a dirty sock, a bong, a pinup poster, and what appears to be a porn mag. Even if he's not technically shown being stupid, the stereotype is still obviously spelled out to me without actually having to, well, spell anything out.
As for
: the page lists him as an example, and given that Tropes Are Flexible, I'd consider a 20-year-old who still lives with his parents and otherwise embodies the stereotype fitting.
I think that's his slightly older sister (who is similarly immature and acts more like a Bratty Teenage Daughter than a 22 year old) rather than his mother but agreed on a the characterisation points. He's more obviously on the ass than the dumb part of the dumbass spectrum in that pic but that's still a valid interpretation of the trope.
Is the image on Teaser Equipment illustrative enough? I don't think it represents the shop part very well.
♫ I’ve been reading books of old. The legends and the myths. ♫
I understand that part, but it still feels more like a videogame menu than an actual shop.
It's also really busy and difficult to decipher what's going on.
Fjón þvæ ég af mér fjanda minna rán og reiði ríkra manna.During the thread
discussing about Gordon Ramsay image I noticed something. Is Angry Chef illustrative enough ?
agreed
Now, I'm a big Sonic fan and I understand what it's going for, I've played Black Knight and all that, but does Storybook Episode illustrate the trope effectively?
I could see it maybe because of Sonic wearing the metal gauntlet, sword, and castle, but I dunno if it really screams "storybook" if that makes any sense.

I have no idea what's going on in that image.

Relies too much on someone knowing that Sonic and the Black Knight takes inspiration from Arthurian Legend. If you don't know that, it just looks like Sonic with a cool sword and a cool power glove and isn't indicative of the trope.

Wuewuewuewuewueing my way to the bank.Is Ignorant About Fire doing a good job of illustrating the trope?

So People Zoo has just been changed, but I have just seen TropeCo.People Zoo and does it illustrate? I looks like a bunch of people enjoying a water feature or something, they don't look like they are in captivity at all?Ignore this I just realised that's the joke of the page.Edited by GracieLizzy on Sep 15th 2024 at 1:18:32 AM
