So over 10 years ago or so, we used to have a newsletter called Trope Report, which covers all of the changes that happened on the wiki weekly. I have been nostalgic for it recently so I thought of it and it seemed to be a fun way to inform tropers about the changes going on around the wiki.
The sandbox for the project can be found at Sandbox.Trope Report Dummy Edition and the sandbox for ideas/plans can be found on Sandbox.Trope Report Ideas. After a new issue is published, revert the Dummy Edition back to a template using the text on Sandbox.Trope Report Template.

Custom title approved, bulletin posted. Congrats, folks!

Will the page be locked soon? Just noting that I edited my section to correct something (the work got a few more wicks since I first wrote the entry). If we wanted to make edits after the fact and the newsletter gets locked, would we report them here for mods to edit in?
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Oh, right. Didn't realize you wanted it locked. Done. Post here, I guess.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Eh...Fan Preferred Couple needs more hands. I'll do that one.

And thanks Fighteer!

Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallHey I have a question. Is there a way to suggest things for the next newsletter without necessarily becoming a contributor? Last page I had a few suggestions for things to add to the next newsletter, but I'm not sure yet if I want to become a contributor.
Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper Wall
I mean, feel free to post here. It'd be cool to have you as a new contributor, but I understand if you just want to lurk and give ideas for a bit first.
Thank you for making the bulletin, but please remove the "Troper report" one, it's a duplicate that's not written as interestingly. And happy new year 2021, I guess.

Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)![]()
Thanks! I will come here if I have ideas for things to be added to the newsletter.
I thought of a possible Work Spotlight or Pages Needing Help example (depending on what it qualifies for) actually: MF DOOM. A personal favorite rapper of mine with very little wiki attention whose page could use some work.
Possible write-up (if I decide to become an editor:)
- MF DOOM is a very unique and critically-acclaimed rapper with six studio albums and five collaborative albums, the most famous of which is Madvillainy, a collaboration with producer Madlib. He is well-known for his many personas and identities, his wearing of a supervillain mask, and for being an underground Hip-Hop darling. Madvillainy is also considered one of the earliest examples of the popular genre of lo-fi Hip-Hop. Despite this, his page has only 25 examples and 56 off-page wicks. If anyone is interested in adding some examples and wicks to his page, that would be a great help!
How did I do? I might decide to become an editor someday, so feedback is appreciated.
Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallI'd say it's quite good, though maybe a bit too gushy. I'd say you can put it under Pages Needing Help if that's what you mainly want.

Thanks for the input. Is this any less gushy?

(Doom is one of my favorite rappers, so you're right, I was probably a little bit too gushy.)

Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallYeah, I'd say it's written well now.

Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)Unfortunately it might need to be written in past tense when describing Doom but otherwise looks good to me.
If we have people contributing their own writeups like this, should we include the writeups as-is with credit to the troper who wrote them?

Yeah, I was hoping this wasn't the first place you'd hear about it...the first time I heard his name was on the Twitter moment about his death announcement.
But on the bright side, boosting his page might work as a sort-of In Memoriam.

I'd be okay with that. Maybe even a "guest contributors" section to plug their usernames.

Holy shit he died! I didn't even notice that. Unbelievably sad, one of the most talented rappers I've heard.
Yeah I like the idea of "guest contributors." Gives those who aren't editors a chance to add to Trope Report. I've got other possible things I'd like to plug, and this would give me and others a way to do it.

Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallYay it's up
thanks everyone!
I like the idea of guest contributors — it also cuts down on possible Schedule Slip in case life gets in the way for one of us regular guys. (I do feel ya about Chance the Rapper being a redlink — I know there's no such thing as notability, but some creator pages do seem like they should've been made by now!) Feel free to keep dropping by with ideas.
Let's go ahead with the love theme for February then! It's a really broad idea, and definitely has lots of wiggle room. (But don't feel like you gotta go with the theme, especially for stuff like pages needing help — it's just more fun if you do.) A romcom great like Garry Marshall could be good for Creator Spotlight, and if I may suggest Dowry Dilemma (ye olde Star-Crossed Lovers problem) for Obscure Tropes?
Finally, I've cleared out the Sandbox.Trope Report Dummy Edition so these ideas can be noted there. Happy new year everyone

Jay mentioned boosting the Nostalgia Critic cleanup that I run in the next issue. Not sure if she wants to focus more on the love theme instead, but hey, a massive problem with those pages is that people shoehorn their sexual passions onto the pages, so it could still fit!
Unfortunately my work is largely limited by whatever new pages people make, but I'll note some new pages for future reference - Candyman (2021) (though it was migrated from Candyman 2020), Fate/Grand Carnival, Star Beam, Hate, Legend of the Golden Robot, and Living As I Please As A Loli Demon King (though that last one looks a bit...NSFW).
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Oh yeah, no worries Mew, I'll boost that thread especially since the weird sexual examples can fit the theme XD
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallFor the next issue's older trope highlight, how about Swing Low, Sweet Harriet (40 wicks since 2010)? Is that sufficiently romance-related? Or Puddle-Covering Chivalry (49 wicks since 2014)?
"It's just a show; I should really just relax"Those definitely need more love given how old they are so I would say that those are good choices
Edited by MacronNotes on Jan 1st 2021 at 6:02:47 AM
Macron's notes... What does the name "Harriet" have to do with the trope described by Swing Low, Sweet Harriet? Is it just a shoehorned pun, or is there something we're not getting?
Suddenly I'm... still rotating Fallen London in my mind even though I've stopped actively playing it.

YES
or maybe the Fan-Preferred Couple thread!
