I just recently started to watch this show and while I might not have finished it, I really must say that everyone and everything is just so darn mean and cruel to Izel. I mean, think about it; he gets sold into slavery by a man that he wanted be close to but would have nothing to do with him, he gets beaten up just for showing a pair of outsiders some compassion and kindness, he loses his older sister and sole remaining family member in a bloody ritual that he was unfortunate enough to actually catch the sight of, he was actually denied even the chance to commit suicide because the gods saw fit to make use of him as a pawn to suit their needs, he gets stuck with a mean-spirited and condescending jaguar beast who mostly insults and derides him, and he gets run out of town because of something that was outside of his control, with even the same poor people-the foreigners- that he once helped earlier turning against him as well.
Then to add even more to his undeserved suffering, he actually runs into the man who sold him into slavery and finds out that he was willing to take in a pair of twin boys as his sons and yet was perfectly alright with selling him and his sister as slaves. The man even tried to brush it off like it was just something that could be forgiven and forgotten. And then, those very same two boys of his flip-flop from being able to show Izel a small amount of kindness and compassion to being needlessly cruel, harsh, violent and condescending towards him and then he is even forced to work with the two of them, due to some form ancient spiritual mumbo jumbo. Even when they started working with the boy, they still mocked, insulted and picked on him far too much, and that new Warrior girl was hardly any better.
Now, granted, what happened to that one twin’s leg was pretty bad, but, Izel only shares a small amount of blame. The whole entire situation was brought upon because the group was needlessly torturing and verbally abusing the poor boy, even insulting his late sister while they were at it. Izel’s outburst was almost 100% justified, with the only thing against being that it was the slightly good twin who he lashed out at.
It is as if Izel is in a living nightmare, I mean practically nobody is even bothering to show this poor boy the slightest amount of compassion or understanding, because they all have a condescending viewpoint and see both him and his hardships as nothing at all. But, from what I have seen so far, Izel has done nothing to deserve any of this torture and abuse
I’m just gonna go ahead and say this, I really don’t see anything that would explicitly hint at a romantic attraction between Izel and Yun. To me, what they have shown so far is two boys who are trying get used to having another brother in their lives. Yun is trying to be the type of older sibling that Izel needs right now and Izel is just beginning to open himself back up to a new older brother figure. Anyway, that’s what I’m feeling in terms of their chemistry

There's a lot of blushing between Izel and Yun, so I could see how some people would believe it's seeding a romance. Plus they're not really siblings. Izel says they COULD have been if the old man had raised them all, but he sold him and Nelli off and then later raised the twins. So, they're not.
And Sofia said she wanted to explore a potential romance among the group in (a potential) season 2 now that they weren't on a timed mission. The only other pair I could see is K'in and Xanastaku, and I'd argue they have even less romantic chemistry than the other two.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).Sofia Alexander had another interview
recently, where she talks a bit more about the planned story for season 2.
- Season 2 would start three years later, where the cast is older and wiser after living in Tenochtitlan. Izel in particular would be a stronger and more capable warrior. It's how he gets the job as the bodyguard under the city's emperor.
- Quetzalcoatl and Mictecacihuatl are going to be on the protagonists', with Micteca in particular wanting to save Yaotl and redeem herself in the eyes of humanity.
So, it's official: the series is dead
. Here's a pretty good translation
of Sofia's post.
To keep it short: Sony buying out Crunchyroll is why it's not moving forward and why she can't do anything with it. She planned on releasing a comic, which also isn't possible. The legal situation even stopped her from releasing a soundtrack.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).I can't say I'm terribly surprised now that Sony has bought it. While the show did get better near the end of season one, and there were definitely great bits about it, its Uncertain Audience and Audience-Alienating Premise makes this a very difficult show to market.

I don't think that's the issue with Seis Manos. Netflix is probably just not interested with more. Powerhouse also seems to be doing mostly I Ps with the sole exception of Blood of Zeus.
Basically that could be the case, since she basically sold a series geared mostly for Mexicans and done with American money, which basically could had pissed some CR or Sony's executive when they figured out the series' actual content.

Nothing about this show makes it inherently geared towards Mexicans. They might appreciate some aspects about it, but it's intended audience is no different than any other shows that Crunchyroll was trying to appeal to.
And I don't like the implication that financial fraud took place, when it's really just the typical TV corporate practice of sitting on the IP rights to shows no longer on production.

Also, "Complete Collection"? Yeah, between Sofia's X-Men 97 gig and this, I'm not surprised.
