OP's story is so outlandish, I buy it without a wick check. Merge.

I cannot for the life of me find a difference between So Crazy, It Must Be True and Appeal to Audacity. They both refer to the situation that arises when a character makes an outrageous claim and is believed by other characters immediately. Several of the entries under So Crazy, It Must Be True are duplicates of entries under Appeal to Audacity, including the example that provides the page quote for the former ('Funny story. Sounds unbelievable. Probably true.' from Rorschach in Watchmen), as well as examples from Superior Spider Man regarding Miguel O'Hara, The Brady Bunch regarding the typewriter, and The Simpsons regarding Skinner's virginity. I would suggest collapsing So Crazy, It Must Be True into Appeal to Audacity simply because the latter has more examples listed, though honestly the trope description and name seem clearer in the former.
