Have an idea for a new trope, but don't know for sure if it's a good idea? Did Trope Finder give you similar concepts, but not exactly what you wanted? Are you just looking for a focus to a broader idea?
You've come to the right place!
On this thread, you can share your ideas with the masses before making that TLP draft, so if there's any lingering uncertainty about the validity of your idea or you just want some help pinning down a good idea, ask away and help others out, too!
A related sandbox I need to pitch is the Trope Idea Salvage Yard. If you've an idea but can't personally work on it, you can add it to the yard and let someone else create the draft. Or you can browse it yourself if you need more draft ideas, whether or not you feel they should be mentioned here first.
Got ideas for non-trope pages you need help with? Never fear, the New Page Workshop Thread
is here!
With that out of the way: Let's discuss some ideas.

Looked for a bit and while we do have Beneath the Mask and subtropes, we don't seem to have a trope about the moment the mask finally slips, which seems somewhat noteworthy especially in cases where the character is Evil All Along or otherwise untrustworthy in some way. There seems to be something to the whole reveal of seeing a formerly trusted character revealing their true colors, the moment at which the proverbial switch flips. Does this seem like a valid trope, or is it too redundant with other things?

Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper Wall^ Maybe it could also be a Sub-Trope to The Reveal as, say, True Allegiance Reveal?
they/she/xyr; editor of Minecraft SMPsWould "Auto fire is slower than button mashing" be a trope?
It's sorta an accessibility thing, if holding down a button results in worse results than Button Mashing? Which even says:
Could be a Flesh Vs Steel issue.

Sounds the same, yeah. I mean I'm more focused on the evil variant (also specifically by revealing it to another character rather than the audience) mainly because that's the one I know so well, but it's all the same "facade drop" at the end of the day.

Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallDoes High Altitude Homicide sound like a viable subtrope for Disney Villain Death and Supertrope to Destination Defenestration, Thrown Out the Airlock and Thrown from the Zeppelin?
For example, in the Kinsey Millhone series novel V Is For Vengeance, Cappi Dante, the brother of Loan Shark Lorenzo Dante, throws one of his brother's debtors from a parking garage roof, despite his own brother's objections. Cappi is indicated to have done this to multiple debtors, among others.
In The Lion King (1994), Scar drops Mufasa off a cliff.
In Rise To Honor, a mobster knocks a maintenance man off of a platform while being pursued by Kit Yun.

Anyone have ideas for Using A Swimming Pool For A Bathtub?
Basically, when a character uses a public pool for a bath. Obviously a comedic trope
Seen this in Crayon Shin-chan, Old Master Q (allow this strip to demonstrate
), some western cartoons that I couldn't recall atm —
Checked Bathing Tropes, didn't see anything remotely like it, so no point asking Trope Finder
Thinking about a trope Hiding Hickies about attempting to cover up hickies so friends or coworkers don't know you've had a night of intimacy.
Similar tropes include Clothing-Concealed Injury, Bite of Affection but I think hickies has it's own specific meaning besides those two tropes.
I think it's very similar to Lipstick Mark as a concept, but doesn't seem to be covered by that page.
Thoughts? And examples if you have any.

A rather morbid trope idea: Acid Thrown in the Face, an extremely dirty fighting technique stereotypically used by jealous women to disfigure their rivals. This is the chronologically last event in the plot of Merrily We Roll Along (meaning that it happens at the end of the opening scene), including the original non-musical play.
I'm slightly worried about potential overlap with Eye Scream, as well as perhaps not happening frequently in fiction due to how disgusting it is.

I've been looking for examples of word clouds (or word cloud-like) in series openings. I can think of two prominent examples of it (HPI
and Fringe
), but right now I'm kinda stumped as to how to even find more example of credits with sets of thematic words as major feature (sometimes the sole feature).
Another dog licking trope titled "Puppy Kisses". This will not be like Licked by the Dog, it will be something completely different, like the character laughs it off when the dog (That doesn't have to be a puppy) licks them. if you don't know what I'm saying, take this image for example.
◊ I just think there should be one of these tropes because it mostly happens to people in Western Animated cartoons.
These days I've been thinking that we don't have a trope for characters who can have sex for an absurdly long time, as a contrast to Speed Sex. Like multiple rounds without getting tired, and ignoring the refractory period. It's a standard for males to have lots of stamina, while in women not reaching climax soon enough is considered a problem of Anorgasmia.
Some examples include Bella from Poor Things spending all afternoon "furious jumping" with Duncan and tiring him out. And also this from Characters.Harem In The Labyrinth Of Another World that doesn't really fit the definition of Lovable Sex Maniac.
- Lovable Sex Maniac: Literally. After his first night of passion with two slaves Roxanne and Sherry in a threesome, he wakes up to find he's unlocked an actual class called Sex Maniac whose perks include improved stamina in bed. His harem appreciates it. His increased in level in Sex Maniac gets to the point he's able to endure nightly orgies with his harem, something they regularly are amazed by his stamina in and out of the bedroom.
The only problem I have is coming up with a name. My ideas are Surprising Sexual Stamina and Lasting Longer Is Better. What do you think?
The first one implies some in-universe acknowledgement requirement, while the other suggests an opinion/preference. I don't know which I lean to yet, maybe finding more examples will show a trend of either one.
Should "Introductory Wanted Poster" be a trope? For when someone's debut illustrates them as a criminal off the bat by showing their names and faces on a "Wanted!" Poster.
Both Puss In Boots movies have it (Puss in both, Kitty, Perrito, and likely more in the 2nd), every pirate/criminal in One Piece (2023) is introduced with their bounty poster, and now I'm re-reading a kid's book Raccoon Rampage which begins with an illustration of the Rascally Raccoon protagonists on wanted posters.

I'm thinking of having only the requirement of obviously lasting longer than usual. And it will need a distinction with Extreme Libido , which is about the craving and doesn't necessarily correlate with high stamina.
Another example could be Ariana Grande's "Side to Side", with the lyrics "I've been here all night, I've been here all day, And boy, got me walkin' side to side".

I know an example where a character's introduction sequence shows a torn "Wanted!" Poster of them (in Spanish, albeit without the name), and his face shortly afterward. Would that count?

Fair enough. In that case, I lean to Surprising Sexual Stamina then.
Sounds like it could work. The core of this trope, I believe, would be establishing them to have some (criminal) reputation off the bat/as a first impression.
Like, in Puss in Boots (2011), Puss introduces himself first, then it cuts to a wanted poster as he says "outlaw".

When you're alone I'm reaching out to let you know that you're far from strangers, like the saviorDo we have a trope for free stuff? We're in an era where you have battle passes and gacha banners, so do we have something that pertain to say, gacha character or battle pass skin that you get without spending a dime? Like more often the game just hands them to you, or just requires you to log in on a specific period, or just do some quests?
That would be covered under Allegedly Free Game.

Am I misunderstanding what you guys mean or is there really not already a page for media that gets more installments or extended longer than originally intended? Because that happens all the time, it's like the other problem you always have with science fiction TV besides getting cancelled early.
