Have an idea for a new trope, but don't know for sure if it's a good idea? Did Trope Finder give you similar concepts, but not exactly what you wanted? Are you just looking for a focus to a broader idea?
You've come to the right place!
On this thread, you can share your ideas with the masses before making that TLP draft, so if there's any lingering uncertainty about the validity of your idea or you just want some help pinning down a good idea, ask away and help others out, too!
A related sandbox I need to pitch is the Trope Idea Salvage Yard. If you've an idea but can't personally work on it, you can add it to the yard and let someone else create the draft. Or you can browse it yourself if you need more draft ideas, whether or not you feel they should be mentioned here first.
Got ideas for non-trope pages you need help with? Never fear, the New Page Workshop Thread
is here!
With that out of the way: Let's discuss some ideas.

- Hmm, interesting idea. Sounds tropable, but hard to name?
In other things, I'm thinking about nuking my Supernaturally Restricted Area
draft in favor of refocusing to when people, or possibly objects, are obviously staying away from something die to supernatural means, since they're not avoiding it for any obvious reasons.
Preliminary name, Obviously Supernatural People Repulsion. Thoughts?
An example would be Dungeon Keeper Ami: Supernatural Fear Inducer-s keep people away from a wall that doesn't look scary, just ugly.

sounds like it could be related to Mukokuseki, at least as a sister trope?
The Scrappy of the Trope Pantheon, God of Thumps
Is there enough works that can justify a Multiverse Designation trope idea or is that trope too close to The Multiverse already?
Pantheon server for all who click here. Lost too much money and time, this coaster ain’t stopping.Like "Universe Triple Epsilon" vs. Gamma Beta Zeta?
Might be better gathered under a trope for the naming scheme itself, instead of what's being named.
Robot Names is a bit unique in being the opposite?

Kinda like Flexing Those Non-Biceps. I do want to get some more examples before I put in the Launch Pad.

KILL CONSUME MULTIPLY CONQUER![]()
presumably more like how marvel and DC both number their universes for convenience in multiverse stories, i.e. Spider-Man is Earth-616, Ultimate Spider Man is Earth-1610, Spider-Gwen is Earth-65
- Things needing to be differentiated, is such an obvious concept that it seems Chairs to me?
But how they chose to differentiate it seems more noteworthy, and therefore possibly tropeworthy?
In other things, just encountered "An NPC / Event that notes when a Demo of a Game has ended".
That's tropeworthy, right? And should we also have a trope / index about tropes specific to game demos vs. full games?

The Scrappy of the Trope Pantheon, God of Thumps
I mean, if I made a page, it would be impossible to label all universes. I’d just list the ones where they’re really relevant to a franchise. But the real question is on how can I differentiate from The Multiverse page.
Pantheon server for all who click here. Lost too much money and time, this coaster ain’t stopping.Well, Labeled Universes Multiverse means that the universes are more than just Expendable Alternate Universe, usually.
Not every multiverse story has a person / organization that formally names the others.

A certain caliber of highly offensive language is treated as uniquely vulgar and categorically inappropriate to call anyone, ever — even people who have wronged you in far more tangible, consequential ways.
A subtrope of Politically Incorrect Villain.
Examples
- Glee: In the episode "Theatricality", Kurt and Finn are about to share a bedroom. Kurt has an unreciprocated crush on Finn, and pervs on him in a seriously inappropriate way. Finn looses his temper and calls Kurt "faggy." Burt overhears this exchange and Finn is punished for saying this, while Kurt's inappropriate sexual advances go unremarked upon. This is eventually downplayed or acknowledged as wrong when, many years later, this scene received a Call-Back wherein Burt tells Kurt that actually that was kinda messed up in hindsight.
- House of the Dragon: Criston has sworn a high-profile Vow of Celibacy, and could be killed if he is caught breaking it. Rhaenyra strongarms Criston into sex in a seriously Questionable Consent scene. He later criticizes her in a sexualized manner, calling her a "spoiled cunt." This is framed as specifically out of line, with even Criston's friend (who also dislikes Rhaenyra) giving him a Disapproving Look for saying that.
I recall a TLP draft that had this idea actually, but it used "Hatespeech" instead of "Slurs"
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallDoes anyone else think there might be merit to a trope for the common stereotype of whales as majestic gentle giants? Right now, I'm leaning towards something along the lines of "Wonderful Whale" as a name.
It's possible it got nuked or something, but I have memories of it existing. IDK, you may have to start fresh. I think the draft had a lot of bombs anyway
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper Wall![]()
I mean... vaguely but not really? This is about speech (which isn't considered a crime except by the very most stringent definitions) and the focus is specifically on the contrast between egregiousness in what Alice and Bob did respectively. They're both subtropes of Politically Incorrect Villain, but I don't think these examples would properly fit under that one.

...so basically what I just said then
I really don't think we need more "let's complain about real or perceived Moral Dissonance" subtropes. Especially because Moral Dissonance itself is gone.

@ whales — I am also skeptical about "nice animal" tropes, but I can see something like "whales indicate a wondrous setting".
@ slur — I recall that HOTD example attracting discourse on whether or not any of the awful things that go down was justified, because the show doesn't relate the two instances (there is a decade between them as well). So I'll agree that the comparative aspect is not really necessary: it doesn't need to be framed as "well, the work didn't call Alice out for that awful thing she did!". Why not just "characters treat slur usage as irredeemable"?

Because this does not seem to be covered by Ambiguously Brown:
A trope for drawn media, where (real-world) race does not exist or is not commented on.
This is a worldbuilding trope, where the features that the audience would probably consider to be racial markers (such as skin color and hair type) are viewed in-universe as just another physical feature with no particular implications. Most characters do not belong to any particularly identifiable ethnic group, nor does anyone mention it or identify themselves by race. Colorism is entirely non-existent. Some characters may appear to broadly match a real world race, but others will not.
Some stories may have fictional "races", such as elves, dwarves, etc, with their own traits and stereotypes, but the things we would consider human ethnic traits like skin and hair color are unrelated— any dwarf, elf etc might look like any human race.
