Have an idea for a new trope, but don't know for sure if it's a good idea? Did Trope Finder give you similar concepts, but not exactly what you wanted? Are you just looking for a focus to a broader idea?
You've come to the right place!
On this thread, you can share your ideas with the masses before making that TLP draft, so if there's any lingering uncertainty about the validity of your idea or you just want some help pinning down a good idea, ask away and help others out, too!
A related sandbox I need to pitch is the Trope Idea Salvage Yard. If you've an idea but can't personally work on it, you can add it to the yard and let someone else create the draft. Or you can browse it yourself if you need more draft ideas, whether or not you feel they should be mentioned here first.
Got ideas for non-trope pages you need help with? Never fear, the New Page Workshop Thread is here!
With that out of the way: Let's discuss some ideas.

Seems like a Like Father, Unlike Son subtrope?

We have Na Rm for drama that fails to land and becomes humorous, we have Springtime for Hitler for stuff that succeeds when INTENDING to fail (God that's confusing.) Bathos for mixes of drama and comedy, same for dramedy but NOT this.

Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.I meant more especifically that was truly intended to be hilarious but comes across as really sad instead. It is not Mood Whiplash because that is a jarring turn between the two moods and can also be intentional.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Skimming Unexpected Reactions to This Index, I don't see anything like that either.
BTW, you can link single-word pages by putting double braces around them.
{{Narm}} becomes Narm
That REALLY needs to be added to the Markup Help list.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here. You mean the one on the "add post" page? It's there:
God, Twiddler you are always on a roll of being awesome. You certainly earned being a mod!
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Big Bad-s apparently can be inanimate objects, would that be a useful split to make, since I don't remember seeing any uses of it that weren't a person?
- could be an omnipresent situation, such as a comet heading towards the Earth.
Noticing a trend about the Darkness element: Darkness Is Vampiric / Life Eater:
- Chantelise: Darkness Crystal is used for Life Drain effects.
- Ruphand: An Apothecary's Adventure: The Dark Blade has Life Drain attacks.

Though I honestly don’t have the experience to write the draft sadly so I hope this idea gains traction.

What do you mean Visual Opening? Like a movie that plays when you start a new game?
Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576Library of Ruina has an animated Artistic Title sequence which resembles an anime opening, including vocal theme song.
...Artistic Title appears not to have any video game or visual novel examples.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableWould "Logical Advantage" work as a counterpart trope to Logical Weakness?
- My Hero Academia: Mirio is at an advantage when fighting against Overhaul, because his Quirk lets him become intangible and Overhaul's Quirk requires him to touch a person to kill them.
- JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind: Ghiaccio's White Album can produce ice and turn the surrounding temperature cold, which gives Giorno trouble fighting him because his Gold Experience's power is to create living things, so he can't produce anything that could survive such extreme cold.
- Pokémon: Numerous examples — Water is strong against Fire because water puts out fire, Grass is strong against Water because grass absorbs water, etc.
Those sound like Logical Weakness examples that are just worded differently
We don't have Fandom-Specific Plot but for Real Life cultures as the "fandom", right? Because I know there's a pattern of Japanese works caring about their declining birthrate

This post was thumped by the Codfish in a Derby Hat
What's going on?
I'm mainly a fan of underrated media. Is there a trope that could apply to people being sexually abused on camera, whether on an organizational or individual basis?
It isn't a Snuff Film unless they die.
Rawr.I've heard Snuff Film being used to describe sexual assault being filmed. If we are going to make a separate trope, I have two examples:
- Dexter: Dexter's kill of the week in the pilot is Jamie Jaworski, a valet who likes to film himself raping women before killing them.
- Law & Order: The episode Performance involves the discovery of a film that depicts a teenaged girl being raped. While it's initially assumed to be a Snuff Film, the detectives learn that the girl in the video is still alive. The investigation uncovers a club of jocks who have a competition to see who can have sex with the most girls, with the rapist being a member of the group.
Wait about that earlier discussion about "evil job" tropes, there is also Battleaxe Nurse and Orderlies are Creeps.
Sun God has one wick, and we don't have a God Of The Sun to match God of the Moon.
We do have God of Light?

And I add this now:
Sometimes the flashback may remind the character's of a skill learnt long ago, thus literally making the character stronger, not just more motivated.
Example:
- Samurai Jack: In "Jack and the Three Blind Archers", Jack remembers fighting against his training buddies in a blindfold, and his master telling him that "A great warrior must be in tune with all of his senses". He later uses this tactic, successfully, to dodge the blind archers' arrows.
Edit: nvm

Asked this in Trope Finder and got an answer but figured I would get confirmation here.
Is there a case that can be made for when a character cries, but then immediately turns happy when being asked or told something by another character, with their tears, red eyes, etc. completely gone like nothing ever happened?
Seen It a Million Times as a comedic gag. Mood-Swinger is close (it's the answer TF gave me), but from what I understand, that's a trope used to define a character's personality. This is more of a one-time thing from a character who isn't really prone to mood swings.

Kaito is an alien and he is kinda spacey, coming from the universe to party and go crazy!
I may have suggested ideas on this thread before, but for once I have 3 examples that I could start a draft with but I've yet to ever do so.
Might not get to this immediately but I'm sharing for feedback.
Genius Parent, Book Dumb Child
Past TF queryPretty much what it says on the tin; a student whose academic performance is below average is often pointed out for the fact in contrast to their parent who is known for their intelligence, often by a teacher.
Examples I can think of:
