Have an idea for a new trope, but don't know for sure if it's a good idea? Did Trope Finder give you similar concepts, but not exactly what you wanted? Are you just looking for a focus to a broader idea?
You've come to the right place!
On this thread, you can share your ideas with the masses before making that TLP draft, so if there's any lingering uncertainty about the validity of your idea or you just want some help pinning down a good idea, ask away and help others out, too!
A related sandbox I need to pitch is the Trope Idea Salvage Yard. If you've an idea but can't personally work on it, you can add it to the yard and let someone else create the draft. Or you can browse it yourself if you need more draft ideas, whether or not you feel they should be mentioned here first.
Got ideas for non-trope pages you need help with? Never fear, the New Page Workshop Thread
is here!
With that out of the way: Let's discuss some ideas.

Do we have the floating math thing
yet?
Crush Filter calls itself a Sub-Trope of Imagine Spot? Could that work?
Edit: Fantasy Sequence could be better?

be viable?
This is close and it overlaps, but it isn't about the speed of the fall/the fall being in slow motion, it's about how it's portrayed as if it's not a scary thing. Some of the examples in the video weren't in slow motion. Or would that just be too close to Slow-Motion Fall?

Well, without knowing why they're smiling, I'm not sure what pattern to draw between them. Are they smiling because they're confident in their power to save themselves, or someone else to save them? Or because they've given up? Or because they haven't realized their situation? Those all convey different moods.
Free-Fall Romance could maybe cover a couple.
I wonder if Girlfriend in Canada being Subverted by having them actually exist, could be worth splitting off, or if it's just Not-So-Imaginary Friend?

Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576I'm on a romance trope kick, this one inspired by an old draft
.
The idea summarized: "A common set-up in romance stories in which The Protagonist has a memorable encounter with a stranger only to realize afterwards that the stranger is their neighbor (and soon-to-be love interest)."
Unfortunately, none of the examples on the draft work so if people can think of any, would appreciate it.

Sounds literal Girl Next Door-y?
I wonder if "Scientist (Mom) and Artist (Dad) Couple / Protagonist's Parents" is just a pattern or something more, because I know at least Eve and Adam's Eve, and Ami Mizuno of Sailor Moon have such parents. Although the latter is a doctor instead of research scientist.

Girl Next Door is a Stock Character trope for a likable, approachable female love interest.
The trope I have in mind is a narrative trope about the stranger a protagonist has a run into earlier in the day being revealed to be their neighbor later on as a set-up for an eventual romance. The Girl Next Door could be that neighbor, but doesn't have to be. And the Girl Next Door doesn't have to actually live next door.

In practice seems redundant to Literally Loving Thy Neighbor buuuut if you were to expand it to "memorable first encounter + oh no, it turns out we have to be near each other for extended periods of time, and our first encounter will color this relationship" maybe? Like how Grey's Anatomy begins with Meredith having a one night stand only for said one night stand to be her coworker at her new job?
Never mind I am talking about Pre-Meeting

Do we have this? Someone abandons/waives a rule/law/personal principle just because of someone because they proved themselves to be worthy and the rule/law held them back or sometimes because that person is just the sole exception, gets a free pass since they love them/that person has money/connections, etc. I know two examples, but I need one more.

I haven't gotten much response of it, so I could probably elaborate on ways they work. Many of them could be a Stealth-Based Mission or No-Gear Level. I am also wondering if they warrant separate page from Prison Episode.
> Scientist Mom, Artist Dad
- is there a specific relationship dynamic that emerges from that? Otherwise it just sounds like a subversion of Mother Nature, Father Science.
Oh, it was my second choice.

ERROR: The current state of the world is unacceptable. Save anyway? YES/NOThere is Beast Fable for allegories using animals, but no page for fables on themselves — Fable is a disambiguation page. Since there is Fairy Tale, I could see it as useful too.

oh hey how are you doing?@Synchronicity, I was thinking it'd be a subtrope of Literally Loving Thy Neighbor since that trope covers just the broad idea of romance with a neighbor, but I didn't know about Pre-Meeting.
Hmm, it'd technically also be a subtrope of that too since Pre-Meeting lacks the new neighbor/"living next door" specificity, but idk if that's enough for a valid subtrope. Looking at the page, most of the examples aren't about that and aren't even romance specific.
If more examples come to me, I'll go with the draft but for now I'll just crosswick that trope more since it only has 44 wicks despite being on the site for over a decade
Two characters who have been enemies, rivals, or at the very least antagonistic towards each other finally start getting along. Not long after this, one of them dies.
I posted about this on the Trope Finder board some time ago (almost five years ago, yike). I can name several examples offhand. Someone called it "plausibly tropable", but i've never made a trope before, so i figured i should probably get more than one vague statement of support before trying.
Subtrope of Tragic Bromance if the two are both guys and become friends before one of them dies?

Don't expect much.@selkies ^X10, I'm not sure I completely understand what you're looking for, but you could check out Screw This Index, I Have Tropes, particularly the "Screw the Rules" ones.
I'll search more, but I'm almost certain we don't have it.
What I'm saying is when character A has a rule or personal principle or maybe a certain law exists that exludes some characters and everyone knows about it. But character A makes an exception for character B as in, character A is rich and they have a rule where the youngest offspring can't inherit them. However, the youngest proves themself to be deserving to inherit character A's properties. So character A drops or changes the rule so character B can be included. Basically, character B becomes the sole exception to the rule.
I want to name The Sole Exception, but is that fitting?

Would "Prison Video Game Level" be worthy of a page? I've seen a good amount of games that have levels take place in prisons. (Ie. Ratchet And Clank: Zordoom Prison, Spider-Man (2018): The Raft, Sly 2: Band of Thieves: Jailbreak)
