Have an idea for a new trope, but don't know for sure if it's a good idea? Did Trope Finder give you similar concepts, but not exactly what you wanted? Are you just looking for a focus to a broader idea?
You've come to the right place!
On this thread, you can share your ideas with the masses before making that TLP draft, so if there's any lingering uncertainty about the validity of your idea or you just want some help pinning down a good idea, ask away and help others out, too!
A related sandbox I need to pitch is the Trope Idea Salvage Yard. If you've an idea but can't personally work on it, you can add it to the yard and let someone else create the draft. Or you can browse it yourself if you need more draft ideas, whether or not you feel they should be mentioned here first.
Got ideas for non-trope pages you need help with? Never fear, the New Page Workshop Thread
is here!
With that out of the way: Let's discuss some ideas.

I don't think that's what they're looking for. That's about combining features of different Native American cultures.
Totem Poles might not appear enough to have a consistent mystical usage, or at least we don't have enough of such works to do so, such that I think we'd only be able to make Our Totem Poles Are Different, or something.
Otherwise I'd advise to trope the Effects generated by the totems, like Some Kind of Force Field, etc.

- Yeah, like Our Alebrijes Are Different, which is another artform turned mystical / magical / whatever creature.
Terrifying Tiki indicates they're more than just masks, but also statues?
But since most magical statues move, then Living Statue is a trope we could use?
Alignment-inversion is a valid play on a trope, like Gender-inversion is?

I've looked around but I'm not sure where to go with this. I'm unhappy with a Trope I created, and am not sure if it's worth taking to the Trope Repair Shop. At the very least I think it needs a name change. I think that most people think that the name The Almighty Dollar means money worship, instead of a god of wealth. I wasn't sure how to handle it when the trope first launched.

I have a good idea for a trope: Purple Is Sexy!

"Happy Halloween, I suppose..."
- I find that hard to believe? What conceptual linkages make that??
What examples do you have?

I agree, I think the hot pink association is stronger.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.
well yes, but, is it actually a thing? color association tropes are hard because proving that it's an actual thing and not just....two traits that sometimes coincide is hard. the ones we have on the site are more or less widely recognized
. I don't think the same can be said for sexy + purple.
Not saying purple has never been used alongside something sexy or sensual, but the association seems more circumstantial than inherent, especiallly without examples to back it up

Or something.
- The Devil Is A Part Timer: A different planet in the same universe as Earth.
- I'm Nobody: The home universe of the Kingdom Hearts characters is actually the same universe as Mass Effect, instead of a totally different universe. They're just from another galaxy.

In which the hymm Ave Maria is randomly sung out of the blue or otherwise sung for humour.
- The Batman (2022): Ave Maria serves as Riddler's Leitmotif in the film, and when he's being interrogated by Batman, he randomly starts singing it to taunt him.
- Everything Everywhere All at Once: One minor character universe jumps by randomly singing Ave Maria.
- In the ''Father Ted' episode "Cigarettes And Alcohol And Rollerblading", a nun sings "Ave Maria" everytime some nuns are put on hold, much to the annoynce of Ted.

That might work although it could be too hard to trope…
On another point, do you think a trope could work were a couples honeymoon goes horribly wrong. Probably call it “Horrible Honeymoon” or “Horrific Honeymoon”. May involve one of them realising how bad they are compatibly and leaving or something…
Thinking about theater tropes again. Had an idea a while back for a subtrope of Audience Participation called something like "Front Row Bonus" or "Singled-Out Audience Member" where characters will casually interact with a specific person in the audience, usually one sitting close to the stage, even if they don't specifically invite them to perform or do anything. Like in Avenue Q, Trekkie will point at a random guy in the front row and nod when talking about how guys use the internet for porn, and in Six on Broadway, Cleaves will encourage someone in the first row to dance in their seat, and in Hadestown apparently Persephone will beckon to an audience member during "Our Lady of the Underground." There's also the newer Star Tours ride that takes a photo of an audience member to be the "rebel spy." Is this distinct?

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Yeah it's not always front row, but I think part of the notoriety is that people wanna get more expensive seats to shows so they can be called up for a specific audience participation bit.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Random To A Point, probably a bad name. Sorta like Anti-Frustration Features but for RNG, sorta like Bad Luck Mitigation Mechanic...
Basically a seeded game or something doesn't allow all possibilities.
- One Step From Eden always starts off a run with a combat node.
- Hades:
- Your first run has some restrictions, which I forget...
- Certain room numbers have preset drops...
- Critadel: First room is always combat, never a shop or something peaceful...
