Have an idea for a new trope, but don't know for sure if it's a good idea? Did Trope Finder give you similar concepts, but not exactly what you wanted? Are you just looking for a focus to a broader idea?
You've come to the right place!
On this thread, you can share your ideas with the masses before making that TLP draft, so if there's any lingering uncertainty about the validity of your idea or you just want some help pinning down a good idea, ask away and help others out, too!
A related sandbox I need to pitch is the Trope Idea Salvage Yard. If you've an idea but can't personally work on it, you can add it to the yard and let someone else create the draft. Or you can browse it yourself if you need more draft ideas, whether or not you feel they should be mentioned here first.
Got ideas for non-trope pages you need help with? Never fear, the New Page Workshop Thread
is here!
With that out of the way: Let's discuss some ideas.

- How so? What's Romantic The Bet?
Edit: ah.
I'd say it's different. Not all The Bet is a Romance Novel Plot. Would clean up the indexing.

.
Also, would it be worth creating a subtrope of Weaponized Animal called Beastly Bombing?
I mean, Frankenstein himself has been known to show up outside of Frankenstein adaptations.
I believe he has even showed up in TMNT.

It would be a subtrope of Public Domain Character, like Frankenstein's Monster, Dracula, etc. I guess it would depend on how many examples there are. Currently it is covered by the supertrope.

Was reminded about how saves in games are hard to differentiate unless there's something special about them...
Save Game Naming would be a valid trope, no? Some overlap with Hello, [Insert Name Here], where a save slot is named for the character name.

TroperWall / WikiMagic Cleanup
- Why would it have to acknowledged by the game to be a trope? That's sorta cutting off all Paratext?
It's still not a trope, though. It has no narrative impact or meaning. At least Hello, [Insert Name Here] can impact the game on a surface level, and some games even have easter eggs for certain names.

Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper Wall
- Ok.
New topic... Number Only Title, a Title by Number Sub-Trope for well, titles that are just a number, no "The [Number]", nothing.
The utter lack of noun information compared to The 4000 or Eureka Seven, makes those titles more than just One-Word Title overlaps?

Check out my forum game: Rate the above YMMV.Similar, but I think they're looking for Story Campaign vs. Multiplayer type games.

?
I just skimmed through the Elders index so it's possible I missed something, but I'm surprised we don't seem to have that. There's Wasteland Elder but that's more specific.
Mild spoilers for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness I guess but while watching it I remembered this old query of mine
:
Everything Everywhere All at Once also has a "multiversal replacement" motivation. Might this actually be workable as a motivation trope, or still too high concept to be common/Replacement Goldfish but "from another universe"?
Edited by Synchronicity on May 5th 2022 at 11:12:36 AM
There’s an example of that in Transformers: More than Meets the Eye, where a character’s husband dies and is later replaced by his alternate universe counterpart, and there’s some friction over the alternate-universe character not being the “same” person. I’m not sure if that’s quite what you’re looking for, but it fits a similar mold.

I made a Trope Finder post but no one responded so I'm bringing the idea over here
Trope idea: Out Of Touch With One's Feelings
When a character, usually The Quiet One, The Stoic, or Ice Queen, has difficulty recognizing or addressing their feelings. It's different from What Is This Feeling?, since that suggests the character doesn't typically feel these feelings. Characters that are out of touch do feel, they just have a hard time processing or naming their feelings. And it's not Emotion Suppression either, since they are not intentionally suppressing their feelings more that they are emotionally repressed.
Is this worth drafting or is it already covered by / too similar to / redundant with other tropes?
