Have an idea for a new trope, but don't know for sure if it's a good idea? Did Trope Finder give you similar concepts, but not exactly what you wanted? Are you just looking for a focus to a broader idea?
You've come to the right place!
On this thread, you can share your ideas with the masses before making that TLP draft, so if there's any lingering uncertainty about the validity of your idea or you just want some help pinning down a good idea, ask away and help others out, too!
A related sandbox I need to pitch is the Trope Idea Salvage Yard. If you've an idea but can't personally work on it, you can add it to the yard and let someone else create the draft. Or you can browse it yourself if you need more draft ideas, whether or not you feel they should be mentioned here first.
Got ideas for non-trope pages you need help with? Never fear, the New Page Workshop Thread
is here!
With that out of the way: Let's discuss some ideas.

I wonder if there'd be space for a supertrope along the lines of "dreams in fiction are almost always plot-significant because of the Law of Conservation of Detail".

You reckon there's room for a trope about people who are really grating and annoying in-universe? Not necessarily a Jerkass, because their offputting personality/mannerisms/whatever aren't necessarily the product of malice. Not necessarily Hated by All, because that implies actual enmity rather than them being merely deeply unpleasant to be around and therefore best avoided. Just characters who the rest of the cast really can't stand being in the presence of for more than a few minutes (or, in some cases, a few seconds). I'm thinking examples like Hooty from The Owl House, or Excalibur from Soul Eater.
I feel like there's crossover with other tropes we have, yes, but this would have a useful niche of its own.
What's precedent ever done for us?The Millstone, maybe?

Again, those don't cover it exactly. They don't have to be useless, and they don't have to be a friend or ally. They just have to be really, really annoying to the rest of the cast. The Walking Irritant (just throwing that out there as a trope name, I have no commitment to it if someone else has a better idea) could have crossover with either of those tropes, but they're not essential to it.
I really do feel like it's one of those simple, straightforward tropes that has somehow evaded our collective vocabulary.
What's precedent ever done for us?~Traveler 123 I actually like the idea of Artistic License – Prison. Could also make for a possibly interesting Analysis page about inaccuracies of prison portrayals in media.
Worth noting (and I don't know if we could put this anywhere on the trope) that how prisons are portrayed in media does have an impact on how we in real-life view them. I found these
just Googling it. Reminds me of a line from "Violence" by Parquet Courtsnote . Brought this up because it may or may not be fittable in an Analysis page or a Useful Notes page. IDK.

Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper Wall^^ Holo Mew 151: yes, I think it would be! I can think of an example or two straightaway.
Is there scope for a subtrope of Ascended Extra for the inverse of the proposed trope Adaptational Ghost? A character who was The Ghost in a form of media is made into an actual character (from the beginning of said work, so no overlap with Unseen No More)?

I don't think two tropes are needed though, something like Adaptational Screen Time could encompass both.
oh hey how are you doing?I have a sandbox for when a character takes a trope in an overly literal sense, but it needs a longer description.

Fake is also prime for a disambig, with two works holding the name.

Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576A lie and something being fake are a bit different. False Friend, for example, wouldn't make it on the Truth and Lies index.

False Friend usually involves lying so I could see some value in it bein there. But you could try the fakeness index idea too.
Considering he is a public domain character, is Frankenstein The Character tropeworthy?
He isn't always called "Victor Frankenstein".

With Baleful Polymorph looking like it's going to be expanded, I was thinking about TLPing a couple of subtropes.
The first I'd call Neutralization By Transformation. It would be pretty much exactly what it sounds like. Inflicting a transformation on someone in order to take them out of a fight, or otherwise get them out of the way.
The second, I'd call Transformation As Punishment. It would be a supertrope to Karmic Transformation (because not all punishment is particularly karmic). It would be about situations where the primary purpose of the transformation is to punish the transformee, such as the classic witch turning someone who annoys her into a frog.
Anyway, do people think that those are good ideas?
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.
I don't see how it's worth more than a way more complainy version of Sweetness Aversion.
I think this has been mentioned before but is it worth splitting the romantic version of The Bet into its own trope?
Macron's notes

I've created a draft
for the "Story that takes place in the aftermath of another story" idea I brought up a few pages ago.
Feedback welcome. =3
