Skye watched Oz charge at their teacher, swinging his broom like a staff...only to be swiftly disarmed and thrown to the floor. Well, that went poorly.

What will happen if I attack her? he asked, only slightly wincing as the pain flared up again. He got many, many visions.

None of them had him win.

Well, that told him all he needed to know. As Inusuke performed his ill-fated attack, Skye went to the corner to stretch.

Sparring Room B

...Well that ended just about the way she imagined it. Lucy initially winced at seeing Oz effectively flicked away with little effort, but it seemed to sober him up at least. Sighing through her nostrils, she shrugged off her hoodie and tied it around her waist in order to give herself more manoeuvrability. There was a noticeable hesitation as she did this, however, and her face burned a crimson red—but she didn't stop in doing some brief stretches to loosen up a little.

Though still disguised somewhat by her baggy T-shirt, Lucy's form was... thin. Too thin. Her paleness combined with this lack of body mass only made her look even more unhealthy. There was also a partially-hidden mark on her neck that might've been glimpsed at in passing, but she effectively rushed through her exercises to get her hoodie back on—and the mark was hidden once again as she zipped it back up and sighed under her breath with relief.

She hung back, still. Didn't try moving in. Merely paced to the side at most, watching how their instructor moved and stood. Six arms meant six chances at being grabbed. She'd have to think about this. She watched patiently as Inusuke took his turn, seeing how Budoka dealt with it with next to no effort.

Yay.

In an actual fight, she wouldn't be given the chance—not if she wanted her allies to get out of there alive. But since this was supposedly countering only, she could assure herself that she could take her time. Her ink idly rippled, but she let it this time. It was obvious to all, and to make sure she was staying sharp with it she let two globules peel away from her hoodie and let them dance between the fingers on both her hands separately.

...Okay. Distraction, feint, move in. Keep distance. Stay alert. Aim to restrain. Remember... this is just a warmup spar and I shouldn't take this too seriously... she thought, sighing again before shaking her head slightly. What am I even doing... still overthinking this...

She was nervous. Immensely so. This was her first superpowered opponent. Excluding David, but his powers were still infantile and she'd only fought back to finish their brief fight. More of a mutual fumbling between the two of them. This was... someone skilled.

Brief flashes of a gun going off assaulted her mind, but they soon faded. It wouldn't end up the same here. She wouldn't let it.

:)

...in a nice way, of course.

Inusuke

Inusuke grunted to show his acknowledgement of his sensei's lesson and shrugged at Smith to show his confusion at her question. Combat was supposed to hurt, after all. He then moved to one side to practice his swordplay. Such was the path of the warrior.

Kano Agano - Saint Academy

Kano walked through the halls of Saint Academy. It was surreal. A couple of years earlier if he had heard he was going to go to school here, he would have laughed. Sure his father was a hero but Kano’s own powers were a joke.

He looked at left hand, which was completely scarred. Now, however, times have changed. The world needed heroes, and so Kano had trained for three years to get where he was. He chuckled a bit.

Oddly enough as he walked to his classroom, which he noted with interest to be “Sparring Room B”, he wasn’t actually feeling very tired. He wasn’t sure if it was adrenaline or just good nights sleep, but he felt oddly awake simply walking to his class.

Eventually, after asking around for directions one or two times, he finally got to the sparring rooms, as well as his own classroom. Right before he opened the door however, he heard a large thud from inside the room.

Opening the door, he noticed the people inside were already fighting. One of the students was now sprawled our on the floor, and the others seemed to be fighting the multiarmed woman in the middle. He recognized her as a hero, but couldn’t remember her name.

Instead, trying to be a bit discrete, went over to the other adult in the room, the one that didn’t have multiple arms.

“Umm, howdy! Am I in the right place?”

Sue

Sue had been vigorously stretching in the corner. Any other day she'd be ready and raring to go, and she still was. But with everyone else chomping at the bit, she figured she'd let them have a shot before they all got their asses kicked. Right off the bat, Sue could tell this six-armed kinda-sorta-demon lady was something else. Just like the other demon lady. She might be able to take her, but the others?

If she hadn't just become friends with everyone, she'd probably be laughing her monkey ass off.

And besides, there was still some other stuff she wanted to think about.

After Sue was done crying into Ryan's chest, Ellie walked up behind Sue and put her arms around the monkey girl in a gentle hug.

She still wasn't sure how she felt. It was... nice. The kind of nice she hadn't felt since she little. Like being in her mother's arms.

When I said you could call me Mama, I wasn't kidding.

...

She could tell she was on the verge of an epiphany. She just knew it.

Eh. Maybe it'd come to her after she beat the not-demon lady's brains out.

By now she'd gotten herself nice and limber. And ready as she was ever gonna be.

Pulling off a couple hairs, she summoned up both of her clones. Both of them leaped in and charged Budoka from the side, with one going high and the other going low.

As for Sue-Prime, she took a different tact.

Summoning up her nimbus, she flew to the tippy top of the ceiling before rocketing down below. She called it back just as she approached maximum velocity, crashing towards the buff arms lady like a cannonball.

She loved it when a plan came together.

Class DY - Sparring Room B - Monday Morning RAW

Ortrun blinked. Ortrun watched Ozvald pick himself up from the floor. No weapons. Not that she had any. Ortrun watched Inusuke freakin break the light barrier and vanish—and Ms. Benkei caught him. What... what had even happened there?? How did she see it? Okay, maybe he just went too fast for her eyes, and didn't break c but that didn't help. Ortrun looked at Sue multiply again and charge Ms. Benkei. Ortrun looked between Lucy, Smith, and Skye. Yup, stretching.
And Lucy... She managed to stop shivering and think of something beyond her imminent pain to stare at Lucy before instantly averting her eyes when she realized. Okay share food with Lucy, if she doesn't have her own meal plan. And it doesn't bother her. And she eats what I do. And I have to think more about that. And this is all pointless if she's recovering from something. Or just looks like that, and is fine and healthy, and I made all those assumptions.
"Yes!" Ortrun involuntarily shouted pivoting quickly from her own thoughts. "Well, I just said that. This is class DY. This is sparring. And that's happened already. Is happening already." She produced the words so quickly that they ran together. Breathing she restarted. "This is Class DY. This is sparring class. Warmup then spar. With her." She hastily added the last part pointing at the instructor. "Ms. Benkei. You get hit harder if you go in with weapons."
She made no move in any hurry to try herself. Ortrun pointed out what she could to Kano and kept stretching. If I ever asked myself what it felt like to have the smacketh down layeth upon me, I probably deserve this.

Ryan Brady - Sparring Room B

Ryan finished his stretching just as Ozvald decided to go ahead and run in like a git. His phone fished out of his pocket in a hot instant, Ryan immediately took pictures of the downed Ozvald, chuckling to himself and saying, "Dude, you just got WRECKED!" He stood back after that and decided to go just as soon as—-

Woah, Sue was going charging in.

Ryan didn't really hear much of what the others were asking. He was mostly concentrating on figuring how he would go about this. She was obviously really good at this. And he doubted he could get many hits in. But maybe if he switched things up a bit...

Ryan grinned a little bit and stood off to the side, intending to just watch and see how the others handled this.

Six armed lady is really formidable, she put Ozzie on the map like it wasn't even a thing! Damn hope I can get to do this class more often.

Budoka kept her eyes on the pale girl in the hoodie. Ink seemed to be swirling around her fingers. On the one hand, she'd intended to have the students learn to fight without powers. On the other, it was the first day, and the girl was clearly nervous.

Then a boy came in, and she quirked an eyebrow at him before turning to Ellie.

"Uh, are you in Class DY?" Ellie asked.

"He is." The computer terminal spoke up. It wasn't Aristotle, however, but a new voice: Dexter. Though they hadn't formally met him yet, some of the students may have recognized his voice from his appearance on various news networks. "Same mix-up as earlier. Somehow, in addition to messing with my roster, Aelrys made Aristotle temporarily forget how to count. It's almost impressive, really."

"Ah." Ellie giggled. "Well, it's no biggie. Thanks, Dex."

"Of course." The terminal flickered off, as Ellie rose to greet Kano.

"Hi, Kano. My name's Ellie, and I'm your homeroom teacher. This is sort of your into hand-to-hand class with Budoka, here." She gestured towards the six-armed woman. "So stretch up a bit and try to attack her."

As she spoke, Sue attacked. Budoka jumped, spinning in mid air to avoid both clones at the same time. Two long arms shot out, grabbing each clone by the scruff of their necks, pulling them upward. Budoka landed in a crouch, holding the clones above her like a human (or monkey, in this case) shield for the real Sue to crash into.

"Keyword, try. Don't worry, though, she only does that to people with super toughness. Worst she'll do to you is throw you on the mat, and they're super soft." Ellie sat back down and patted the floor for emphasis.

"Impressive reflexes, and surprising strategy with your clones. You do the name of Sun Wukong justice." Budoka said, casually tossing Sue onto the mat. She gave a small smile. "Now all you need to do is piss off the Buddha and get trapped under a mountain."

Sue

Well.

That could have gone better.

Sue hopped right back up on her feet. She had half a mind to whip out her staff and whack her where the sun didn't shine, but Ms.Ellie was watching. Instead she stormed off toward the sidelines, mumbling some barely comprehensible gibberish under her breath. She squatted down and crossed her shoulders, still fuming.

Seriously though? The hell was that? It wasn't like she couldn't throw a punch. She'd roughed it up with the best of them. Her every waking moment in the jungle was a struggle for survival.

And she couldn't lay so much as a scratch on her.

Eh. Maybe she could work on that epiphany.

Wasn't like she anything better to do.

Ryan Brady - Sparring Room B

"Alright, my turn." Ryan said as he outright removed his stringer shirt before proceeding forward. He had a few "secret weapons" that he intended to use, though not including his powers. He knew going by how these last few fights went that using established fighting was like, no good. So he had a little something to mix it up with.

Ryan then launched himself forward at the teacher, throwing a few heavy punches as his opening move at her. He didn't use any of his superpowers, more using the innate strength that came with his size and athletic capability.

Okay gotta wait to make my move...cmon Ryan, you can do this...

Everyone against the same target, yet still all they could do was charge in like lambs to the slaughter against a more dangerous enemy. But still if he didn't make his own showing then all of the earlier misfortune he had caused would have been for nothing. Thankfully Ryan's sudden assault gave him a good opener at least. "And with a wave of my hand how about a magic trick, as one becomes many." Milos grew by about two feet, his entire form becoming more chaotic as static began to build and literally leak from his eyes.

"Watch closely folks here and at home, nothing up my sleeve but if you blink you might end up seeing double." suddenly instead of just one jock with nuclear powers throwing fists at a teacher there were about six of them, all swimming with static energy. "Its a shell game, was the one who ran first the real one or just an empty cup?" even as he talked he prepared a burning ball of fire under his hat, ready for any inevitable counter attack. Playing tricks was his specialty, but psychokinesis was as simple as rubbing a few molecules the wrong way and holding it in place with telekinesis.

"If anyone else wants to join in on the tricks I can open a psychic communication free of charge." he put his arms behind his back and waited.

Keeping this up to long would be a mass strain on his powers, but given he had a good supply from the earlier class he could hold up for the moment.

Budoka did not so much as blink when Ryan charged her, or when one Ryan turned into six. Instead, she merely closed her eyes.

With one palm, she blocked every punch that Ryan threw. The real Ryan - and only the real Ryan. She ignored the illusory fists of the duplicates, letting them pass through her to no effect.

"You're quite strong. As expected of one who's body is the heart of a burning sun." Budoka mused. "But that does not negate the need for skill."

She turned, stepping back with one foot, as Miguel came at her. Another one of her arms came up to block his punches as well. Her eyes were still closed, and she crossed the four arms she wasn't using to block. "Ah, a triple combination. Good. That's the kind of strategy you'll need in a real fight - don't give your opponent time to breathe, if you can help it."

Ryan watched as she deflected every blow that he threw, and ignored the...countless illusory fists flying at her. Ryan didn't blink, guessing that SOMEONE over on the sidelines was running some kinda interference. And much as he would've liked to have this be mano a mano, he wasn't gonna look a gift horse in the mouth...

"You're quite strong. As expected of one who's body is the heart of a burning sun."

"But that does not negate the need for skill."

Skill huh...let's try something I'm skilled at, then!

Ryan suddenly shifted his posture and right as Miguel went in as well, trying to throw his punches, Ryan went in to use something he was very well familiar with; a full on Football Tackle throwing his huge shoulder right at Budoka shortly after another of his punches was deflected. His muscular legs lending an enormous amount of force and speed behind the tackle.

Sure he could just keep throwing punches till he got tired, or he could go ahead and try something he guessed she might not expect.

Kano Agano - Sparring Room B

Kano breathed a sigh of relief. He was a bit worried he had wandered into the wrong room, so it was good to know he was in the right place. He stole a quick glance at his new home room teacher, Ellie, before shifting his focus to the fight at hand.

He began by observing his classmates, and how they tackled this particular foe. After a while three of them in particular stood out to him. The jock and the monkey girl both seemed to be the most combat oriented, and the girl using the ink reminded him of... someone. He made a mental note to talk to them, though he would have to do it later. Now was not the time for confrontations. Now was the time for action.

After observing the students attacking their teacher he began to instead study how their teacher defended themselves. He decided he would plan out his attack from that and so he did

A single, medium sized smash. Enough to test the waters and perhaps even hit her, while not enough to completely exhaust him. Though the attack would reveal the nature of his powers, he decided it was worth it to figure out a better overall strategy. That was after all, how he did things.

Stepping forward a bit he curled his hand into a fist. He would have to be a bit mindful of the wind pressure from the attack. It could easily botch the attempts of his classmates, as well as alert Budoka to his own attempt. At the angle he was attacking however, he felt his attack wouldn’t affect his own teammates to much.

Eyes glowing, he took another step forward and threw an force smash at his new opponent.

Sparring Room B - Iona

Iona stood and watched in silence as everyone set about attacking the teacher, only for each to be easily defended against. Well, most of them seemed to be lacking in martial skill, so it was to be expected. However, a particular tidbit caught her ears, perking them up.

She can sense chi too, is it? Interesting.

Iona carefully placed her cane on the floor, stretching and breathing slowly as she prepared her muscles for the task ahead. Body and spirit centered, breathing in a controlled manner, muscles neither overly tense nor loose, and chi flowing smoothly through the pathways. Now all there was to do was wait for her turn. This was a test to be undertaken as an individual. Though...some help wouldn't hurt.

"Hey Skye? Can I ask you something?"

She made her way over to the psychic, giving him a gentle tap on the shoulder. The tension and despair in his body was palpable in that brief moment, and she didn't blame him. Precognition wasn't quite the most useful power in a fistfight. Well, without martial ability to back it up.

"You think nothing you do will end working, don't you? What about if I try? Say I tried to punch the teacher in the torso with a full power strike. What does she do?"

Sparring Room B

Somebody else had arrived. Lucy glanced at them a moment, giving them a soft smile and a small wave in greeting. She shyly averted her eyes immediately afterwards though, instead returning her gaze to their instructor. Sue had done... something, which ended up still failing despite Lucy recognizing genuinely excellent improvisation and reaction time from the monkey girl—which only bolstered her decision over not going early on and getting it over with. But Lucy soon realised that she didn't particularly want to go last either. It'd probably draw eyes, and she wouldn't want to end the whole thing on a bad note...

She offered Sue an encouraging smile, though there was a glimmer of sadness in her eyes that reflected the monkey girl's disappointment and anger. She was about to gather up her courage and call out to her, but Milos' sudden psychic invitation diverted her attention in an instant—and on instinct she covered her head with her hands as her ink bubbled violently in response from her hoodie.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

Wait, no! It's fine! It's just a call! Just don't let him– there! See? It's blocked. He can't get in.

Bad. Bad. Bad.

I know. Stay calm. Christ I'm jumpy, she internally acknowledged, drawing in her ink once again as she forced herself to relax and straighten her stance. Those guys are... really just going all out, aren't they...?

She watched as they collectively attacked their instructor all at once, and the entire time she was wondering if she should just give up on this whole planning thing completely and follow their example. But given that wasn't exactly what she wanted to do, she continued to hang back and watch. This wasn't the point of the exercise, after all.

There's a space.

...Yeah. So?

Should go.

...Really?

Now.

...Ugh... okay, I... guess I'll do it then...

She waited a moment for an opening, before beginning to circle around so she was in front of Budoka. She didn't close the distance, however. Her hands were firmly in her hoodie pockets initially, but she soon flexed them and drew them out just in case. With a notable sense of relief she let her ink release—relishing in its freedom as it formed itself into a bubbling mass of tendrils around her like some sort of squirming black aura. Her gaze was unblinking and almost unnervingly sharp—more staring through Budoka than at. Though her focus was unwavering, there was a slight trepidation to her demeanour still.

She waited about five seconds, before her ink suddenly burst into action. It lunged forward about a metre or so in front of her before sharply diving towards the floor; pulsating as it belched out an opaque thick mist of ink that rapidly expanded in front of her in order to shield Lucy from Budoka's view. Ten consecutively fired globules shot out from the mist after a purposefully offbeat delay—aimed roughly at where Budoka's arms were with the four extra shots for damage control if any missed. Finally, at the exact same time these projectiles zipped towards her, several large tendrils loomed out from behind Lucy's makeshift smokescreen before lunging towards Budoka from multiple directions, with the intent of wrapping her into a partial cocoon.

A harmless effect, ultimately. Lucy would release it as soon as she possibly could if she actually managed to pull it off. Even so, it was quite the primal and terrifying sight—the fluid, precise movement of the ink made it seem almost alive in and of itself despite Lucy's pacifistic intentions. Plus, Lucy didn't bother herself with Pstandard Psychic Pstances or anything else of the sort. Her position was unchanged, and she even looked uncertain and worried despite her focus on psychic activity. Beads of sweat were creeping onto her forehead, however, and she could feel a headache brewing from the sheer concentration required. She was anxious, ready to move at a moment's notice if she needed to.

Was that... too much, or–

Knew it. Too far. Screwup.

No... no. She's an expert. She's... she's got this.

Budoka lowered herself to meet Ryan's tackle, but her eyes snapped open and flicked towards Kano at the same time, feeling his energy begin to build.

She planted her feet and allowed Ryan to crash into her stomach. She grunted as she skidded back a few inches from the blow, but remain standing. Four of her arms grabbed Ryan, just as Kano threw a blast of force.

Her two free hands had already begun to glow with energy, and she thrust them forward at the same moment Kano struck. Her own chi, perfectly controlled to match Kano's, met the invisible energy with a dull thud, canceling out the blow completely.

The arms grabbing Ryan literally picked him up, before tossing him to the mat.

"For reference, attacking your opponent head-on should generally be something you only do when you know that you're stronger than them. And even then, you might run into a trap." Budoka wiped a bead of sweat from her brow, smiling at the team tactics as she turned to Kano. "Impressive psychic ability you have. Invisible attacks are always the hardest to counter."

Then the ink girl began to make her move. Budoka closed her eyes once more as the ink formed a mist. Though it didn't work against those with sensory abilities, it was good to see the girl understood the importance of denying information to your enemy.

Budoka began to swat the projectiles out of the air, the ink splashing against her skin. She was seemingly ignoring the tendrils that surged towards her at the same time. The tendrils found purchase on her arms, but before they could slide across her skin to try and bind her, Budoka clapped all three pairs of her hands.

The triple-clap released a shockwave, splattering the tendrils and the remaining ink bullets all at once, as well as blasting all the ink off of Budoka's body.

Budoka took a breath and re-entered a combat stance, in case Lucy tried to attack again. "Well done, Miss Livingston. I hadn't intended to use this much chi today. You truly are skilled with your power." She smiled. "Though this is supposed to be a hand-to-hand combat class, so I expect you to learn to fight without it. Power negation isn't unheard of, after all."

What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?

Kano Agano - Sparring Room B

Kano took a moment to catch his breath. That took a bit more out of him than he thought, but he still had a lot left in him. He pursed his lips a bit. For reasons unknown to even himself, Kano found a great deal of displeasure from people assuming his power was psychic.

Regardless, that attack, combined with the ink girls opening attack told him what he needed to know. She was able to tell he was making an attack before he even made it, and he assumed that she didn’t even need to see their attacks to block them. That’s how she prevented that cloning attack.

She also wasn’t simply relying on physical strength, as she seemingly had some sort of secondary power as well. He guessed that more likely than not, Budoka would be able to match the power of any attack Kano could make, which would simply result in him incapacitating himself.

He curled his hand again, this time in a claw. She could easily defend against a single big attack, but could she defend against multiple small attacks?

Kano twisted his force into dozens of small crescent blades and, tensing his had once again, attempted to rend his teacher. He targeted her arms, hoping to avoid his classmates once again. If the attack landed correctly he would release it, he honestly didn’t want to hurt her after all, but he had a hunch it wouldn’t quite go as planned.

“You see son, in life there are facts and there are opinions. Your opinion is wrong, and that’s a fact”
