1. Italics are straightforward usually, but have found two times when the (apostrophe apostrophe XXX apostrophe apostrophe) resulting in XXX doesn't seem to work:

-when you're potholing a one word title. (Curly brackets curly brackets Bolt curly brackets curly brackets) potholes to the TV Tropes Works page, but I can't get that word to italicize on my own page.

-when you're linking to someplace outside of TV Tropes. [[outside link The Bolt Chronicles.]] sets up the link okay, but I can't get the three-word title to italicize on my own page. It puts it in quotes instead.

2. On the work tropes page, I'm setting up a list of tropes. The first one is 419 Scam, but I can't get it to pothole no matter what I try. The rest seem to pothole fine.

You should use Ask The Tropers for these kinds of questions next time.

That first question. I feel like apostrophes should work everywhere. Italics should be out of curly brackets, if that helps. As for outside links, apostrophes should be out of those ex links as well from what I can tell.

Yes = ''{{Yes}}''

this works = ''[[http://example.com/ this works]]''

As for the second, you can't start the links with numbers. You must use FourOneNineScam or any equivalents (check the URL if you're uncertain).
