So this is a place for people who are interested in helping out, or getting help with, wick checks. Maybe you just want people to double-check your work before you submit it to the TRS, or maybe you have a big project in mind and can't tackle it on your own. Either way, you've come to the right place!
Remember to check out How to Do a Wick Check for a run down. For the list of current and completed projects, see Wick Check Project.

Okay I added more wicks to the For The Meme check and attempted to sort the majority of them. Still unconfident about my judgement so I'd definitely like a second/third pair of eyes to check them over but. Good chunk of progress has been made!

That's a point. I've renamed that section to "notable correct uses" since I'm not as concerned with getting the definition wrong as I am with the definition itself being problematic.

Oh, that's convenient. Thanks for linking it. I've put myself into the queue with an OP.
Some tropes are just hard to sort, tbh. I stopped helping on And I Must Scream because I kept running into things I just wasn't completely sure of.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallIs Watch It for the Meme really about things that are only known for their memes though? The page actually seems to suggest it can also apply to a Newbie Boom when the meme outlasts the work's popularity, even if the work was popular upon release, so stuff like, say, Madagascar 2 would probably still count.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.I might do a check for all the examples on Break Up To Make Up because of this TLP thread
covered by the concept but with a much less terrible name. It's only 39 wicks, so it'll be super easy.
Edit: You know what's a great idea? Finding the link you want to add before hitting "send".

Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallI'm currently working on Country Matters Wick Check. There seems to be issues with Country Matters being misused as "when character says the word".
Working on Sandbox. The Amazing Race TV Tropes Edition. The description seems to be specifically about how the word's objectionability varies in certain cultures. Many of the examples on-page are not like what the description says it's about.

Working on Sandbox. The Amazing Race TV Tropes Edition.I suppose. To me that entire description just reads more like an analysis, and not a trope description, but either way it's a mess.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallI think the use of "cunt" in American works for shock value and emphasis works as a trope just as well, similar to Precision F-Strike. But if the word is used flippantly, like in the Sausage Party example for one, then it's not really tropeworthy.
I know, but even a work that uses "fuck" and "shit" and other profanity frequently may shy away from "cunt" so it's a fair subtrope.

Despite the name, Precision F-Strike is not limited to the F-Bomb. If someone uses another swear for emphasis, it is still tropable. (There is even an example of a quiet, restrained "Damn" counting as a PFS in-universe, as the character is well known in her large - and very potty-mouthed - navy for never swearing.)

I might actually do What the Hell, Hero?. I keep see it be used for people to bash protagonists or talk about the bad things those protagonists did, when the point is that the hero is being called out for it.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallI made a wick check for Nice Hat at Sandbox.Nice Hat Wick Check. I won't be working on it right now because I have a backlog of wick checks to do. I haven't done a big wick check like this in a long time.
Macron's notesWhat's the difference between the first and third categories, Mac?
Vehicle-Based Characterization | Grief-Induced Split | Locker MailThe first one is for examples that just mention the hat the character wears/how nice it is and nothing else (which is the vast majority of examples) and the second is for examples that are more than just "character wears a hat I like" but falls under something that's more specific than Signature Headgear like another hat trope (if the examples are from something tropable).
Macron's notesI made the What the Hell, Hero? check in Sandbox.WTHH Wick Check. Would appreciate help; it's a long one.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallIn-Universe Only means NRLEP, right? Because I found a real-life WTHH.

Vehicle-Based Characterization | Grief-Induced Split | Locker MailNo, In-Universe means it applies in the narrative and has no effect on real life examples (because real life is a universe). It disallows meta and subjectivity, and pretty much only matters when dealing with things that could be audience reactions and the like, like Annoying Laugh.
Most tropes are IUEO by default.

Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallSorted a bunch for WTHH, but also left a bunch undecided that I wasn't fully confident about. My bad.
Vehicle-Based Characterization | Grief-Induced Split | Locker MailIt's fine; thanks anyway. I might just shunt them into an "unsorted" folder and worry about it later.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallWell, I made the folder for you so you wouldn't have to! I've put it at the bottom of the page.
