Final Fantasy VII Remake Spoiler Thread

Redemption would be funny considering the Dirge of Cerberus song by Gackt. Considering he's Genesis, that would be fitting for if he shows up in Part 3, along with Vincent being playable in Part 3.

I Just realized we're all stupid.

The third part is going to be called Reunion.

It wouldn't surprise me if one of us already said that too.

I think the Crisis Core remake covered that.

Well screw them. This game deserves it more.

It does feel sort of wasted on Crisis Core since Reunion is such a big term in VII.

Sephiroth was the one after a Reunion. Genesis and Angeal weren't interested in such a thing. So the Crisis Core title should have been something that interests those two or Zack, since it was Zack's story. Something about a hero because they all wanted to be one.

I think considering what we now know about what the timelines are, Rememberance might be a good bet.

Also since nobody brought it up, the 2015 reveal trailer seems a lot more relvant since Gi Nattack is the speaker

So just got to the part where the Tiny Bronco turned into a boat and.

Squeenix is starting to scare me with the sheer audacity of how ambitious this project is. I thought I had finished the Grasslands after the first 20 hours, but no. I knew there was a second Saucer visit so I deliberately left a bit to do in Corel, figuring with the 100+hours that would be all there is to mop up (aside from QB), and then the endgame. But no.

New quests everywhere. And I can fucking manually sail everywhere now. I am genuinely struck with choice paralysis right now.

Next game is giving us seamless flight around Gaia’s entire globe, isn’t it?

It took over 100 hours but I finally cleared VII Rebith. Still gonna need some time to process my thoughts but my immediate impressions are I need Part 3 yesterday, holy shit.

Also as for the soundtrack this is probably going up there in my top 10 FF OS Ts, they really went all out.

I save my thoughts on story stuff for the spoiler thread later cuz I’m sleepy but yeah, fantastic game and I hope they end it on a high note with Part 3

The ost for Rebirth is officially up for download.

Okay so the Ultimania for Rebirth just came out today and translations are now dropping:

• Apparently the tiebreaker for the Gold Saucer date is how much you’ve been using said character in battle.
• Elena is only 18
• Apparenty the Shadowblood Queen is actually Jenova, and the Emerald Witch is a Cetra.
• We see 6 different timelines over the course of the game, the church where Zack ends up in the end is also a different timeline.
• Aerith’s exact fate is also left vauge.

She's only two years older than Yuffie? Seriously?

Elena looked like more of an adult than that?

Has she always been that young?

We only got official ages for all the Turks very recently.

Huh. But Reno and Rude have to be in their twenties then?

Hell, I could buy Rude and Tseng being the oldest of them.

Tseng definitely, since he's an adult when Aerith is a child.

So what are the ages of the rest of the Turks? Might as well go all in on this.

But if they tell me Reno is 16 or some bullshit, I'm fucking rioting.

Seeing how she is in Before Crisis, 18 sounds about right. FFVII is a world where you join the army at 14.

Tseng and Rude are actually 30, Reno is 28 according to the Remake Guidebook. Rufus is also 30.

Some more stuff from the Ultimania I’m getting these from Aitaikimochi’s Twitter by the way:

• Nomura actually originally wanted the subtitle for Part 2 to be "Reuinon" but changed his mind when it was used for the Crisis Core remaster. He actually hasn’t told anyone what Part 3’s subtitle will be yet.
• Glenn Lodbrok was actually created for Rebirth’s story first before they decided to make him the main character of The First Soldier.
• At this point, Part 3's main scenario has been already completed and they are close to starting voice work, since Rebirth took about 3 years Part 3 should hopefully take a similar amount of time.
• Apparently you can actually change the result of Cait’s dice ability by just having whichever character you’re controlling run over and kick the dice.
• Sephiroth can now exist in multiple worlds simultaneously.
• The painting in the Cosmo Canyon vault is of Nanaki and Dinea, a character from Before Crisis
• Rufus is secretly funding the Wutai branch of Avalanche.

They really want Sephiroth to take back the "Strongest FF Villain ever" crown from Caius, huh.

No? Mostly because Caius wasn't the strongest to begin with, it's always been Chaos from Dissidia.

Dissidia is a spinoff, Caius was advertised as the strongest FF Villain in the mainline stories in XIII-2. They probably will make Sephiroth the strongest in Part 3, though.

Nah the title of strongest is Meteion. Quite literally was exterminating all life in the universe.

Alright, so I've processed it a bit and this is my read on the ending and timelines:

• Beagle/main: one created at the end of Remake after the party defeats the Whispera and Sephiroth absorbs them. At the end of the game, this timeline is the one where Aerith dies. Has no torn sky that signifies its impending doom. Aerith's materia is clear, having been drained of its power in her first encounter with the Whispers and thus cut off from her awareness and memories of other timelines, including OG (I think this was confirmed in an Ultimania?)
• Terrier/Zack and Biggs: the timeline created by Zack surviving his last stand. Tifa, Barret and Red are dead. Zack takes care of the comatose (possibly due to soul shenanigans) Aerith and Cloud with Elmyra's help and meets up with Biggs, who's actually Beagle!Biggs and somehow ended up here after his supposed death at the pillar. Has the torn sky.
• Pug and Shiba: created when Zack decides whether to save Biggs or pursue Hojo. Notably, Pug hints that either the lifestream only exists on the main timeline or that the impending doom of a timeline quickly dries it all up. Shiba Zack presumably gets gunned down.
• Pomeranian: Possibly created intentionally by Aerith, Beagle Cloud is pulled into this timeline's comatose Cloud after they fall at the temple and he and Aerith go on their date. Everyone here is aware the world is about to end and has made their peace with it. Aerith (who might be composite/ultimate/OG Aerith) gives Beagle Cloud a full White/Holy Materia orb before sending him back. This is the one where Zack is waiting outside the church when Sephiroth comes to kill Aerith, and it's this Zack that's tossed into the multiverse, fights alongside Cloud and fights Reborn Sephiroth in a dying world. Presumably derived from Terrier?
• OG: The original FF 7's. Somehow, after the end, Sephiroth gained awareness of other worlds and a means to affect them, and so the Sephiroth encountered in Remake and Rebirth is "ultimate"/composite Sephiroth, who controls the black Whispers after the end of Remake. Similarly, the Advent Children Aerith in the Lifestream has awareness of the other timelines and opposes Sephiroth, but Beagle Aerith got cut off and can't use this knowledge. It's this Aerith that comes to Cloud's aid in the very last fight.
• Aerith Lives: Created when Cloud diverts Masamune and saves Aerith at the last moment. Only Cloud, Aerith and Sephiroth are aware of this timeline, with Aerith having died in Beagle. After the final fight, Cloud is aware of both this timeline and Beagle (while physically in the latter), hence why he can see the torn sky and talk to Aerith. This timeline is doomed but Aerith still has some purpose within it, apparently praying in the Forgotten Capital to stop Meteor. Presumably there's something stopping Sephiroth from coming here and killing her again (no mulligans!). Could just be Cloud mental fuckery, but Red feels her too, among other things.
• Unknown timeline: Where Terrier/Pomeranian Zack ends up after the final fight. May be one of the aforementioned timelines.

I'm not a huge fan of this clusterfuck. They had to do something with Aerith's death since it's the most spoiled twist in videogame history and there's no way it'd have the emotional impact OG had, but it gets a bit hard to care about the specifics when it's so hard to even understand what's going on and as a result Aerith is a goddamned Schrodinger's cat.

Re: strongest villain - I feel like “The Creator” from The After Years has got to be up there, given the implication that it created all life on all the worlds the FF games take place on, a la the Precursors and their Monoliths from 2001.
