Magus looks more like Piccolo with hair to me.
Human Frog in the PS 1 ending Animation though looks like a Green Haired Vegeta.
As the final trailer reveals, aside from the mindfuck ending of this part, Everything else about the game is overall similar. Even a Hell House boss.
Watch SymphogearI guess the mind fuck ending is supposed to be the big MGS 2 surprise.
Where you spend hours thinking you will play FF VII but then it becomes a bizarre time travel story.
I wonder if they will go all MGS 2 on us and deconstruct remakes?
Other way around for me, Frog looks like Piccolo. Granted i have played Chrono Trigger long before joining the DBZ fandom.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"
I mean, this game going off the rails made me want to play it to see where it goes. No longer do i have the apprehension of it being a pretty VII with KH gameplay.
C'mon Square, let's go insane.
I mean, we can ignore the retcons like Shinra making the bomb stronger or people surviving the plate since this is an alternate timeline or something.
FF has canonically dealt with different universes.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"![]()
Can you imagine seeing the Disney cast in the FF VII artstyle?
I wanna see Sora realistically. Maybe Donald and Goofy too if they aren't horrifying.
Who does Queen Zeal look like?

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Folks elsewhere are calling it the Rebuild of Final Fantasy Vii.
Which feels like the more fitting comparison right now rather than MGS 2. Trolling for the sake of trolling.

Nioh 2 despite being a prequel for most of the game turns into a full on sequel in its final levels, so yeah, its a trend.
Watch SymphogearHuh, compelling cases, but in this case, it's a remake that turns out to be a sequel. Those are prequels that turn out to be sequels.
It would be if Omega Ruby was revealed to be a weird time loop.
But now i'm worried if this is time travel, they will actively muck up the legacy of the OG. I just assumed they were gazing at different realities or something.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"I think the issue with this is that concepts like time travel, alternate timelines, fate & destiny aren't really part of the FFVII lore, so it feels really forced. If this was happening in FFVIII, I would actually be totally on board.
And reviving Zack and the plate drop victims feels like a major mistake made for fanservice, and ruins some of FF 7 stronger moments like the entire Cloud twist and the Lifestream sequence. Now Zack will just join the party and Cloud will just be ok I guess. Tragedy was a big deal in FF 7, the way they're undoing it is really disappointing.

Oh common Japanese names.
But really if this ends with Cloud going to Spain i'm swearing off Final Fantasy forever.
