I briefly talked about this in another board when news came out that Naruhito and Masako are going to ascend the throne.
This particular story idea (Did some writing a few years) will (I'm sure, okay?) attract modern Japanese history buffs and some from the pre-modern era. Maybe some dashes of Tom Clacy/insert name of your favorite techothriller writer here.
I'll be happy to answer stuff here later on.
This is only one of the few things I'm doing with the coronavirus quarantine rules in place.
Basically, this was inspired (mostly) by this tweet shared by Derek Wessman
, an American living/working in Japan as an interpreter and did work with the Diet as a staff member who shared his experience of working with an unnamed Conservative member of the Diet (Don't know if Representatives or Councillors) who attended revision-opposing rallies, secretly backed by families that were formerly part of the pre-occupation Imperial Family.
Another is from this wiki article on a pretender
who claims lineage from the Southern Courts.
For the first part, I wrote a basic historical narrative on the Southern Courts losing out and a legacy of the claims being carried out by the survivors of the SC who kept the tradition alive and later on, wormed their way to the branch families. This part becomes the conspiracy that most of the descendants are willing to do the "necessary evil".
So fast forward to the present. The unnamed Crown Prince/Princess or someone in the Imperial Family (or maybe a nice guy in the IHA) would call on the help of an outsider to investigate something unusual that doesn't look like that it may have ties to the SC when later on, it does.
