I'm opening up a new thread for Characters Sub-page Splitting, just so we can converse about massive projects involving the Splitting of Characters Sub-pages for when they get too big. We can talk about other types of Sub-page Splitting too (Like for Main Pages for example), but for now I want the topic to be Characters Sub-pages since I have some ideas about Splitting those in particular in mind.
I want to start off with the Characters Sub-page for Pokémon...or more specifically, the Starters. I think the Starters should have their own Sub-pages due to both how big their folders are and their meta-importance to each Generation, being both the first Pokémon of your journey and the most heavily advertised.
Here's a list of the Sub-pages I want to launch for them;
Of course in doing this, some pages would have to be replaced with new ones with the proper labeling since the Starters would be taken out, and I made a list for them too;
So what do you guys think? Should Starters get their own Sub-pages?

I'd kinda get splitting Kanto starters. Their section on Characters.Pokemon Generation I Bulbasaur To Parasect has about 49K chars of markup, while the whole page has 177K (though 29K is taken up by the Charmander line, so maybe that's the section we should consider?). The amount of space taken up by starters in the other gens isn't nearly as severe, as for example Characters.Pokemon Generation III Treecko To Sharpedo has 194K and the starters take up only 22K, not worth a split.
If anything, I thought that we could potentially make a Characters.Pokemon Mewtwo And Mew page as Characters.Pokemon Generation I Magikarp To Mew has 183K and those sections take up 46K? Then again, considering that Gen I pages have been split fairly recently, so I don't really feel like this is necessary (they all seem to weigh a little over 350 KB in terms of web page size, when warnings typically start showing up at 530 KB or more), though Characters.Pokemon Generation II Families and Characters.Pokemon Generation VIII Families are getting pretty close to needing a split (about 510 KB and 450 KB). By the way, I round all the numbers down.

I see. My want of giving the Starters their own Sub-pages is admittedly less about numbers and more about representation, since I feel that they're major enough to give them their own Sub-pages and their folders are large enough for a page.
Even if we don't give the Starters their own Sub-pages, though, I still think it'd be good to Split the Sub-pages since they look a bit too big (Especially the Sub-page for Gen 8 Pokémon). Unless the numbers aren't big enough?
Yes, they are to some extent represented, but probably not enough to receive separate pages, at least right now (depends on the starter, of course, you wouldn't say that the Turtwig line is comparable to the Charmander line), not to mention their length not justifying it that much.
In terms of Characters.Pokemon Generation II Families, Characters.Pokemon Generation IV Families, and Characters.Pokemon Generation VIII Families, I'd say they're borderline (510 KB, 463 KB, and 452 KB, while I personally believe the concern point starts at 450 KB and the splitting becomes necessary at 520-540 KB.
That said, since the Gen VIII page is the shortest and there is DLC that has not yet been released, I think it would be a good idea to wait until the DLC releases (for as long as it's possible before the page size warning shows up, anyway) before the split. As for Gen II, we could split it to Characters.Pokemon Generation II Chikorita To Dunsparce and Characters.Pokemon Generation II Gligar To Celebi. As for Gen IV, it isn't quite as large, but we could split to Characters.Pokemon Generation IV Turtwig To Garchomp and Characters.Pokemon Generation IV Riolu To Arceus, if necessary. Those generations are finalised, so I think splitting them probably wouldn't hurt us (though split pages tend not to bring as many inbounds, as detailed here and here).

Whatever, do what you want. I never should've brought it up in the first place since I'm not qualified to make any major edits.
