Talk about courts, rulings, practitioners of laws, and laws themselves here.

So we have a thread about law enforcement agents and several threads about lawmakers. But after Forum Thread searches, I couldn't find any specific thread about laws, their rulings, and other justice (as used in the legal sense, not moral) related topics so I felt this warranted a thread of its own.

Disclaimer: Despite the title, I cannot vouch for the legality of this thread itself

US Supreme Court will hear another case involving the Affordable Health Act, aka Obamacare. This will mark the third case in which SC stepped in regards to Obamacare.

The act was launched in 2010, so basically it happened once every three years. Is that considered a lot, or is this kind of thing just commonplace?

This vid amused me, particularly this bit:

"So, you always want to build rapport with the jury and when you have a joke that lands with the jury or the judge, it's a really, really, really great feeling. Although! In contrast, when a judge makes a joke in court, you are basically obliged to laugh at them, whether if they are funny or not. Federal court judges seem to think that they are the funniest people on planet..."

Oh god, the latter part.

I remember going to an open court to watch a session where one of my uncles was a prosecutor. I can't remember the details, but the judge made this..."joke" and everybody forcibly laughed. I put the quotations mark because I couldn't understand what was funny about it. I asked my uncle and he just said he didn't get it either, but he had to roll with it. [lol]
