Disagree, it makes more sense to split them off onto their own page.

Well, we can't just be adding knee-jerk "this politician said this funny thing and we laughed at it for a day and forgot it" memes. There should be a 5-year NREP rule for Memes.US Politics.

Staying power doesn't determine whether something is a meme. For every "Kilroy was here", there are dozens of "nope, Chuck Testa" memes that come and go.

The increased prominence of social media means more memes cropping up with short lifespans as new memes take their place. So it's hard to determine how "big" a meme needs to be to be considered a "meme." Ugandan Knuckles lasted, like, a month, but it was still a meme.

Made Memes.US Politics 2016 Election Onward.

Yeah, but we still remember "nope, Chuck Testa" today.

Yeah, it's not about scale necessarily but about impact and staying power. Memes have shelf-lives too (to quote Jacksfilms), but not all quoted things become memetic.

Speaking of that 2016+ Politics page, here's the latest example:

• Anonymous ^Explanation  In October 2020, former Homeland Security official turned noted Trump critic Miles Taylor revealed himself as Anonymous, the author of the 2018 "I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration" op-ed. Taylor subsequently received harsh criticism from both liberals and conservatives for writing the op-ed (which was too little for liberals and too far for conservatives), overseeing the cruel immigration policies, keeping quiet as the White House accused fellow Trump official Victoria Coates of being Anonymous on shaky evidence, denying authorship in a CNN interview and holding a less impressive office than the New York Times talked him up to be.

Nothing in this entry actually describes why it's a meme, and Anonymous as a memeable concept long predates this election.

And on the main Memes.US Politics page, that Glenn Beck raped and murdered a girl in 1990 meme needs to be trimmed down.

(looking back I probably should have made the pre-2016 memes their own page and kept 2016-present on the main one)

Castlevania is filled with entries that are just popular quotations where the only context given is for the quotes' origin, rather than how it's utilized by fandom.

Don't Hug Me I'm Scared suffers from a massive ZCE problem and some of the things listed I don't even think are memes (then again, I only saw this series recently, so maybe the ones I have never seen (such as "There's a time and a place for mucking around", "aspic" and "Good thing he didn't call him the Black Guy" among others) were memes at some point?). I can confirm that "Now let's all agree to never be creative again", "pizzer", "Wow! Look! Nothing!" are memes though

YMMV.NEO The World Ends With You already has a Memetic Mutation entry. Considering how the game was revealed just a few hours ago, isn't it WAY too early for that?

• Memetic Mutation:
  • "This game was clearly influenced by Persona 5." ^note Immediately after the game was announced, social media was full of people comparing Neo TWEWY to Persona 5. Many found this comparison ridiculous, considering that many of the things that the games have in common are found in multiple other games, and that the original TWEWY was released nearly a decade before P5. The comparison was widely mocked by pictures of other, totally unrelated games or real-world locations being posted by people claiming that those things took influence from P5 as well.

As of right now, the work's main page is a stub, and unless that's fixed, the YMMV page won't be allowed to continue to exist anyway, so it might as well be cut.

It does seem to be a thing, so maybe move it to the main TWEWY meme page for now?

Not sure if it belongs here or the fact checking thread but on Memes.Sailor Moon, there's an entry that reads Two wants receipts, with the appropriate explanation. The problem is the phrase itself appears only on that page (a Google search with quotes comes up with that page as the only result)

If it's nowhere else on Google, it's not a meme. Cut it.

Bringing up the following example from The Fanatic:

• Memetic Mutation: The film's ridiculously insensitive portrayal of the autistic Moose has led to some viewers claiming that John Travolta "went full retard".

Google searching the phrase "john travolta went full retard" (in quotes) has precisely three results. One of them is TV Tropes.

That's more Memetic Mutation for Tropic Thunder. I don't think we list Memetic Mutation for individual memes mutated from other works.

A lock was placed on Memes.Cyberpunk 2077. As a moderator, I could clear out the ones that are just complaining jabs towards CDPR. Aside from Cybercrunch and Cyberpunk 2076, is there anything else that can be struck down?

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann has a lot of examples listed that I personally can vouch for as being valid memes, but are terribly written between the "Caps locks makes everything funnier guys!" issues and Explanations merely talking about where they came from as opposed to how they're used as a meme.
