Definitely pull the current, but I'm not really feeling either of the suggestions. 1.1 is too cluttered, and the text in 1.2 is too small.

On second thought, I don't really like 1.2 either. Using only the first panel conveys the trope only via text, panel 2 is not this trope, and using the first two panels would be more than half the comic, and even then not that great.

Well there's Beam Spam involved too, but I can see your point.
That's possibly more to the point. This trope should have multiple weapons attacking the same target.

for Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz. The mecha depicted don't have as much individual spam as the Gundam SEED suggestion, but at least you can tell that they're all firing on a single target.

An Alpha Strike is when a unit (or preferably a group of units) all hit a target with all their weapons at once. The image is... an aircraft firing a whopping two missiles. That's not nearly enough for this trope.
