The twin suns of Amonkhet beat down relentlessly on the initiates of Trohep Crop as they entered the arena. It would be the last time they had to endure the sweltering heat - the final test of their worthiness was upon them, and before long they would achieve a glorious death followed by eternity in paradise. It was rather arbitrary that they'd have to die here, almost like the whole system was designed by an evil dragon to create an army of perfect undead soldiers, but they knew better than to question given what happened to their former crop-mate Nine-Tailed Cat when he pointed this out. Whatever fate awaited them had to be better than wandering the sands forever as a mindless husk as he was now doomed to do.

From a platform above them, the five gods watched, waiting to see them in action. Jackal-headed Hazoret raised her spear and spoke, her words echoing across the arena for all to hear. "Welcome, initiates. You have done well to get this far. Soon, one of you will be brought by my hand to the God-Pharaoh's promised afterlife. However, that honour is only for one of you, and you must battle each other to claim it." She tapped the back end of her spear on the ground for emphasis. "The final trial begins now! Good luck to you."

The initiates cheered and raised their weapons, eager to prove their worth. They then turned on each other and began sizing up their crop-mates for weaknesses. Regardless of who prevailed, it was bound to be a spectacular fight.

After a brief, chaotic free-for-all, the fighting broke up into smaller, more orderly groups. Kung Fu Cut Bug and Madame Butterfly Knife locked eyes, each immediately knowing that the other was to be their main opponent, and began a fast-paced and intense duel. Blade clashed against blade as the two initiates watched each other for any hesitation or missteps, either of which could prove fatal. In the end, Cutbug let their guard down first and was brought down with a slash to the throat; however, Knife was too worn down by their fight to defend herself properly, and a sudden attack from Dookie Idiot Nimrod knocked the wind out of her before Zanreo finished her off with a single well-aimed stab.

Meanwhile, jaketroper had managed to extricate himself from the melee for a moment, but he knew it wouldn't last. Any of his crop-mates could more than match him in combat, and he would never be the last one standing without phenomenal luck. Still, he realized there was one way he would be undefeated and impress Hazoret: If it was his own hand that took his life. He proceeded to tear his own heart from his chest and, with the last of his strength, held it aloft for the god of zeal to see. The last thing he saw was her approving smile.

As the dust settled, Dookie and Zanreo turned and locked eyes with each other, watching to see who would make the first move. As the last members of Trohep Crop, each was the only thing standing between the other one and their eternal reward. Which one would obtain it?

damn, we all hated Knife's guts this round, didn't we... except for Jake apparently

Oof. But hey, I did what I needed to do!

The two initiates watched each other intently, neither one willing to risk making the first move. Zanreo took up a defensive stance, ready to counter any attack Dookie tried, while Dookie circled around just outside her reach and waited for an opening. One mistake could cost either of them this fight, and one good move could win it. They knew they had to be on top of their game.

Finally, Dookie raised his weapon and began advancing, and Zanreo lunged to intercept him. However, it was a feint - he turned at the last second, and instead of hitting him, Zanreo only overextended herself. Dookie seized the opportunity to grab her spear, wrest it from her grasp, and turn it about to skewer her with her own weapon.

Hazoret looked down on Dookie with a warm smile. "Well done, child," she said. "You have truly earned the honour of dying upon my spear. Come and claim your reward."

Dookie was overwhelmed with joy at his triumph. Against all odds, he had proven himself the greatest of Trohep Crop, overcoming each and every one of them. His exultation was strong enough that it ignited a spark within his soul. Suddenly, he felt a strange pulling sensation drawing him away from the world...

The next thing he knew, he was in the stands of a completely different arena, this one packed with a cheering crowd. Here, a single sun shone down on two pairs of combatants who clashed with vividly-glowing weapons, clearly looking to put on a show rather than to harm each other. This clearly wasn't the afterlife he had been promised; instead, it was the beginning of a new life in a new world. Soon he would learn that he was a planeswalker, a mage capable of travelling between worlds, and any number of new destinies were open to him...

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. I'd forgotten how much fun it was to come up with these narrations.
