I've dewicked a few smaller sections, but I have to bring up:

All of these contain Boring Invincible Hero wicks used in a sentence, and removing the redirect will make the sentences...well... nonsensical. What do?

Edit: Anyway, 359 wicks left.

Could we go from "Boring Invincible Hero" to "boring Invincible Hero"?

Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand!

[up] That's still a complaint, though.

Let me try. I'm less sensitive about whether something sounds too angry, but I'm also fine with cutting out more text than strictly necessary.

  • The first is a hypothetical bad example, so not complaining; "boring Invincible Hero" is fine.
  • The second doesn't match the potholed text, which sounds like it's reaching/misused. I've taken it out.
  • Third also sounds shoehorned. A weak character is the opposite of invincible. Removed the whole phrase.
  • Fourth is a subpage for complaining, so I don't care about fixing one entry.

Picked a character sheet at random...

And it is used as "how [the character] views himself"; in other words, not complaining but a case of Self-Deprecation.

So, not touching Characters. One Punch Man Main Characters until we figure out how to rewrite that example.

ETA: If you find any instances applying to Real Life, cull the wick, as Invincible Hero is NRLEP.

Still going through the smaller sections of Boring Invincible Hero.

But what do with FrDictionnaireProvisoire.Schemas Non Traduits? Because I don't speak French, I have no idea what this page is even about, let alone how to fix the wick.

Edit: 320 wicks left.

Boring Invincible Hero has 90 wicks left, discounting 2 locked pages.

For the French page, it seemed like it was pitching translations for Boring Invincible Hero. I moved the entry to discussion.

The Portuguese page seemed to fit (Google Translate, baby) but was light on context so I moved it to Invincible Hero but commented out as a ZCE.

PS. We also have Boring Failure Hero, though that only has 30 wicks. Should that be gone as well?

If it matters, You Fail Logic Forever (the old name for Logical Fallacies) has about twice as many inbounds registered as Boring Failure Hero, and the former was cut completely after the mods decided that the You Fail X Forever redirects should be cut since they also caused complaining when they were the primary names for those tropes.

Edit: I just saw that Boring Invincible Villain was cut and it also had about twice as many inbounds as Boring Failure Hero.

Edit: This ATT query is where the decision to cut the You Fail X Forever redirects came from.

Well, I finished dewicking Boring Invincible Hero. I put in a request to remove the YMMV.The Last Jedi wick; loading onto the cutlist now.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot about the Archive.Made Of Win Late 2008... I suppose it'll be treated as an archive page?

[up] I believe archive pages always stay the way they are, even if a trope in one of them is renamed.

[up]Correct. Archives cannot be modified, even if that means leaving wicks to cut and/or renamed pages.

Cool. Well, the two redirects are gone now. Time to close up, or do we hack down the Failure Hero redirect while we're at it? (I think we should, by the way)

The main Invincible Hero and Invincible Villain tropes. The "boring" redirects were cut because they invited complaining about how these characters were seen.

We also need to rewrite the description (to spell out that it's for straight-up invincible villains and explain how and why stories might use them) and have a good, solid look through the examples to make sure they match it.

What's precedent ever done for us?

Tossed the description onto Sandbox.Invincible Villain and did some chopping to start.

Bump. Is it just a matter now of sorting through the on-page examples on Invincible Villain?
