Agreed.

The Rosers were red. The Drownies are blue. I know What the Thunder Said. Do you?
Panels 1+2.
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand!I like those. Personally I think 1.2 > 1.3 > 1.1 > 1.4.
back lolto the Heidi pics; nothing about those really gets the trope across as clearly as the current.
Needs more birds and squirrels on Heidi's shoulder, perhaps?
However, I should point out that the illuminati-bots from the current example are not actually nature lovers, but they're stoned out of their minds. From reading the trope description (beyond just the title) they don't seem to fit as an example.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!A better example from Sinfest; Pooch consistently loves nature as a character trait.

Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Those are good...slightly favoring 12.1
(Annoyed grunt)
I personally prefer Heidi, because that doesn't depend on text and is more immediately obvious.
The universe is under no obligation to make sense to us.More Heidi, since I think she's a perfect choice to illustrate this trope. Illustrations and book covers:
17.1
17.2
17.3
17.4
17.5
Live-action Heidi:
17.6
17.7

My issue is that Heidi doesn't necessarily look like a girl who loves nature; she looks like a girl who just happens to be really happy while in nature.
Current Project: The TeamExactly.
For me, it illustrates the trope better than Pooch.
The universe is under no obligation to make sense to us.Same, actually.
I think loving nature or being happy because one is in their beloved countryside is splitting hairs.
The webcomic with the dog is a bit better than the current though.
It's not splitting hairs; It just doesn't look like Heidi is a nature lover who's happy because she's in nature, rather than just that she's happy and happens to be in nature.
I don't like text-reliant images that much, but I just think Heidi is a little context-light.
That said, your Heidi images are a lot more illustrative than the first batch.

Current Project: The TeamI think these images show pretty well that she is happy because she is in the nature, and it doesn't look incidental to me at all. That said, 17.3 and 17.4 are my favorites.
The universe is under no obligation to make sense to us.OK, so I don't know. Perhaps I'm influenced by knowing the story but I really think it's not accidental or a case she just happens to be in the nature and is kinda happy independently.
Making a collage with a contrasting pic when she's miserable in the city wouldn't look nice I think.
Here's Heidi as an obvious Animal Lover.
And here's Heidi with a butterfly, satisfied having picked a cup of berries and surrounded with flowers. (Pity I can't find a version without the text.)

I think all of the Heidi examples are better than the other suggestions.
