Looks like the classic animated film Bambi is next to get the live-action remake treatment. The news was first reported today from Hollywood Reporter. Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Lindsey Beer will be the writers for this remake. Apparently it will be in the style of "The Jungle Book" and "The Lion King".

To get a photo-realistic animated remake.
"Live action" huh
Honestly, a Bambi remake isn't that bad an idea.
I know the recent Lion King remake had a lot of problems, but I think that's because it stuck too close to the original, which made the photorealistic style a bit jarring.
I always it would be interesting if you could do the entire film without dialogue, and just let the visuals speak for themselves. The original Bambi didn't have a lot of dialogue and you can make it feel like a documentary without any narration. It would avoid the blank-face syndrome that plagued everybody in the Lion King.
I really don't see the point in this. It would just be a nature documentary.

I wonder which celebrity might voice the adult versions of Bambi, Faline, Flower, and Thumper? Especially knowing that they got Beyonce and Donald Glover to voice Adult Simba and Adult Nala in the Lion King remake.

Isn't it obvious?
I'm going to predict that Flower will get gender swapped.
Seriously!? You'd think with all the other companies they've devoured Disney would be able to come up with something new.
I'd rather they not get celebrity voices and instead just get quality voice actors...

Yeah, I'm sure they'll get right on that just as soon as the remakes stop making over a billion dollars each.
Yeah, you want to blame anyone, blame the moviegoers.
It's possible to do just that, but it's risky on most forum sites.
Anyhow, there's a simple compromise that Disney can do which remedies the situation: do a more faithful adaptation of Felix Salten's original work, with all of its Darker and Edgier lessons and plotlines.

Yeah, no blame game here.
It's a symbiotic relationship, Disney is making these movies because audiences are going to them. It's rather similar to their policy on the Disney Vault, scarcity creates demand and the chance to see a new version of your favorite classic has become a license to print money. The movies that deviate the most tend, lacking those classic moments, to be less successful. I do think this habit will fall to a similar fate as the cheapquels, despite immediate monetary success it is slowly diminishing the brand. They can't make another live action Beauty and the Beast or The Lion King ten years from now and expect the same turnout.
Of course, Bambi is a lot less fresh in children's memories and doesn't have the same big musical set pieces. If it falls in the same trap as the blank faced Lion King remake I don't see it being anywhere near as successful.
I's definitively happening already, Dumbo didn't earn that much money.
They are running out of popular classics to adapt, eventually the nostalgia cap is gonna dry once they reach the obscure stuff.
Ny great uncle (David Hilberman-not blood relatives though) actually helped make the original, so I hope this one's good.
Though how long before Frozen (2013) is old enough to get a nostalgic live action remake?

Well Lilo & Stich is apparently getting a remake so around a decade I guess.
If they show Man, the movie's instantly ruined.
And they're most certainly going to show Man.
Man will be played by Chris Pratt
I'm still having trouble imagining a celebrity actor providing the voices of some of these characters.
Dumbo didn't make very much money and the Lion King was critically thrashed, so yeah, they may indeed be coming to the end on it.
Although early Disney movies are very musical in their own way, with the animation synced to the music and all. I wonder if they'll try to recreate that aspect…
I'm curious on how the Ice Skating Scene will translate in the remake.
