Opened. Yikes, not sure how to fix this one.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportFor my part, I think it's probably best to cut. There's virtually nil to salvage here.
Eh, it's just a genre index. Other than being small and unedited, I don't really see problems. Besides, indexes don't fall under the ZCE policy, otherwise we'd report Platform Game as well. Maybe there are no more examples because there aren't many more than this eight left to add, so it's just a bit narrow, but still a valid genre.

Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)There is a lengthy Wikipedia article on a virtual world, so someone didn't just invent the thing on TV Tropes. The current page needs a good writer to help its description, but otherwise, it just looks like a short index.
I vote to cut. Or cut and send back to TLP. Hopefully with a dedicated 'page sponsor'.
Yeah, it sounds like a valid index idea, though for some reason it's page type is "trope" and half of what's there doesn't have a page (they should be redlinks, not non-links)
Current Project: The TeamOn looking at similar pages, I now see that it is in fact an index. It's not clearly labeled as such however, and the quality of the page itself is abysmal. Perhaps sending it back through the TLP is a better option then?
If this is an index and not a trope, then a lack of wicks probably isn't a problem.
That said, I'm fine with sending it back to TLP if people think the page itself needs to be fleshed out.

2 ÷ 0"These worlds could someday become The Metaverse, while some argue that they already are... The line between Online Games and Virtual Worlds is blurry, as extensive modification can turn one into the other"
Lines from the description, implying that it's somewhat subjective. I'm not sure this works, even as an index. I'm leaning cut, but if it stays then the description needs to include that Virtual Worlds are ascended game-spaces, rely heavily on a large user-base activity, and that longevity must be a factor to qualify.
With the current description, I think The Internet itself might qualify.
Convert to index.
Send it back to TLP to be reworked, there's plenty more examples out there that could be added, like Club Penguin.
I'm against cutting. Also, convert it to index, yeah.

I'd like to apologize for all this.Crowner, hollering to hook
The TLP effort should be separate from this one so we can get through with this effort in a timely manner. Even if we don't select "cut and send back" (which is... the same thing as saying "send back") the option for someone remaking the page through TLP (as a better version of what it is now) would still be on the table. I just think we don't need another TRS thread waiting on TLP.
Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they prettyYeah, we can just add the idea to Trope Idea Salvage Yard and move on. I wouldn't be opposed to a TLP effort, but the TLP can take forever, so it's best to not force the thread to rely on the TLP draft's existence.

she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportSeveral people in this thread stated that they would like to see TLP action, which is why it’s an option. I know it would be on the table anyway if it was cut, but some might want a definite resolution vs. “someone might make it someday”. (I don’t, for what it’s worth.)

See, for me I feel like a decision to cut without consensus to send to TLP says "this is not a tropeworthy concept, do not make this page again". We generally discourage people from recreating cut pages. So I think it's important to vote to send back to TLP, even if the page doesn't actually get made before the thread closes. It gives validation to anyone who wants to create a page in the future.

"It's just a show; I should really just relax"That's a good point. As long as the thread's not left hanging by a stalled TLP effort.

Calling in favor of cut and send to TLP (or at least put in the Salvage Yard).
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportAlso noting that there's Fr.Virtual Worlds that may need to be cut as well.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportDewicked both Virtual Worlds (Last wick is a ghost wick) and Fr.Mondes Virtuels, which Fr.Virtual Worlds redirects to. Put all these on the cut list and put the idea on the Salvage Yard. Putting the contents here in case someone looks to this thread for an idea of what the page contained.
For in-universe virtual worlds, see Lotus-Eater Machine, Cyberspace and Inside a Computer System. Compare Immersive Sim.
Examples
[this is indexed]- Active Worlds
- Croquet
- Furcadia
- Mole's World
- Open Simulator
- Second Life
- The Sims
- Whirled
I see the pages are cut, so looks like we're done. Closing.

Crown Description:
What would be the best way to fix the page?
As per https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/query.php?parent_id=84188&type=att this action has been recommended. This article is short, every example is Z.C.E., no major edits have been done since 2016, and the aforementioned shortness of the article applies to the list of examples, of which there are precisely 8, of which only 5 have pages.
