I've gotten a few more 5* and 6* Operators since my last post. I got Tachanka from as an event reward. I pulled Aosta from the banner, and I got Schwarz via Recruitment with the Top Operator tag.
I'm not at the final stage of the event story, and I had some trouble with it. Unlike with the boss of Who is Real, where I could handle the mobs but struggled against the boss, here I'm having the opposite problem. My operators are now sturdy enough (at levels ranging from E1 Lv. 50 to E1 Lv. 70) to survive it's Ao E attack without too much trouble, but stopping the regular enemies has been tough. They aren't much of a threat to KO my Operators, but I've been having trouble keeping the blobs they split into from overwheling past my blockers. I've often had runs where it seemed like I was doing well, only to fail out of nowhere because excrescences I didn't even see in all the chaos slipped through.
^^ Aosta isn't the best, but he can help mitigate some of those leaks due to his AOE. If you have Pinecone it would be a lot better though since her S1 is manual activation with charges. Also...do you have Lappland? Her silence can prevent the split. Other silencers can do the job, but others (except Jaye S1. Use him if you have him) doesn't really have the sustain silence like Lapp.
Also yay OD-EX-8 Challenge beaten! Ugh, wasted 10 san because the combination of I screwing up with deploying units against the infiltrators before the boss dies, so Ash got rekt, which screws up my reflex when my PC alarm goes up and defocus my screen from Bluestacks, so a lot of tumors leak from my main defense line because I can't activate Saga S2...

Give me cute or give me...something?I wasted 20 san because I accidentally beat it on normal mode again and didn't notice.
Done all Defense Protocol missions, all the EX maps, and bought out the shop. Pretty much done with everything so only things left to do is comfy farming of the manganese, since there's no manganese map left yet in the future compared to grindstone.

Need to see roster first to give recommendations.

It's actually not that bad beside the several few initial run (because there's no practice plan). You can keep for yourself, as long as you do the upper level and not leak excessively. The guy who choose the lower level usually chose it without any intention of losing. Several of the mission has no difficulty limitation, so you can go for normal (basically has the difficulty around Chapter 3's regular maps) and still get the milestone.
Or you can ask anyone in this forum to team up, if complete stranger is a no-no. I'm free today.
- Thorns and Mountain have a lot of uses, especially as general purpose. They're drop-and-forget units with self-sustain, though Thorns need initial set up of killing a bunch of trash mobs.
- Ifrit is a little situational, but her S2-3 are good in general even without support. You have Saria E2, so you're pretty much set with Ifrit's setup.
- Specter isn't optimal unless you E2 her. That way, her talent will turn into a pretty great self-sustain. Need Masteries for Bone Fracture's helidrop tho.
- Phantom is great because he's basically a free extra fast-redeploy unit with a 5* Guard stat.
- Ch'en E2 and S2M3 if you need a panic deploy button. Otherwise, not really.
Eh, imo Ifrit isn't situational at all. Despite her weird range, she can still do effective damage even with one tile covered. Her numbers, multipliers, and DEF/RES debuffs are just pretty strong, and they all justify the DP cost of deploying her
Just an eagle. Feel free to PM me. Proposed pages in my sandbox are free to create/edit.I don't really have problem with the boss of EX-8. If you put an AoE melee and 2 ranged Guards, supported by 2 AoE healers, you're pretty much set against the Zerg Rush and the boss will kill itself in the attrition battle, even if you don't deal any damage on it the entire battle.
The mercenaries with clone substitute are the real threat. If left alone, they chips away the sand mounds that funnel the pathing into a nice, single file to be decimated by the aforementioned defense plan. If they get attacked, they run fast through the sand mounds into your blue box's shorter path, their substitute is tankier and overlap with the tumor spawns so you can't burst them down with fast sniper, they have high dodge and can't be blocked as long as their substitute is still on the map. There's also a lot of them (6, I think?), with 2+1 spawning back-to-back at one point.
I need either 2 slowers to chip them when they go through the upper path, Surtr to immediately burst everyone when several of them spawn. Sometimes both because the slowers and Surtr's skill duration are conveniently ending when they fend the mercs by themselves. Maybe Cliffheart can bypass the headache, but you need to have her pretty tanky to survive the map wide explosion and her S2 to level 7 so it's pure stat check.
Or you can use this strategy (Warning: a loud dog)

Later tonight, I'm going to try to beat OD-8 again. This time, I've raised up Lappland to the same level range of the rest of my team. I plan to use her and Podenco to silence the mobs to prevent them from splitting. I might throw in Glaucus (who is usually my go-to Supporter) to use her second skill to Ao E the blobs. My past attempts have had Lava the Purgatory and Shirayuki on Ao E duty, and I plan on using them in tonight's attempts, too.
Raising up Lappland used up a lot of my resources, so I didn't have much left to raise up anyone else aside from my regulars. Godspeed, Lappland. I'm counting on you!
Update: Nope,I still can't do it. Even with Lappland, the best I can manage is getting to the third phase of the boss, at which point it explodes and takes out almost my entire squad, leaving me with only one or two Operators to deal with an entire army of tumors. An earlier post In this thread called the fight a "DPS check" and I'm wondering if maybe my units are just too under leveled to deal or take enough damage to beat this stage. The highest Operators I have are E1 Lv. 70, and this stage's recommended level is E2 Lv. 10. If that's the case, then with just one more day left in the event, I don't think I'll have time to do the grinding to reach that level.

^ Sorry! OD-EX-4 is mostly a puzzle map. It's not that bad if you figure it out, but when you start the map the first time you'll definitely be intimidated by it.
EX-5...well that's just me going full overkill mode. There's a few other strats you can do with it, I just brute force it lol (the location of the originium tiles you can blow the mounds for really encourages that).
