Hi guys. I am wondering about examples of an non-existing (as far as I am aware of) trope "Protagonist was evil all along". I mean, sure, this would have been a really specific subtrope of Evil All Along, but anyway, I am looking for examples that fit my desription.
So, in this case, we have a protagonist. He can be either a hero or an anti-hero. There is a conflict with some kind of villain or anti-villain, whatever. The protagonist actions suceeds or fails, whatever. But it is revealed to the audience (via Tomato Surprise or any other way), that the protagonist was evil all long and the story shifts either to Evil vs Evil, or just simply switches sides. Cases in which the decoy protagonist turns out to be evil are NOT this. This must be the real protagonist of the story.
Do you, guys, have any good examples of the works that have "Protagonist was evil all along" trope?
