I came across this upon returning to the Ear Worm cleanup.

To me, it's pretty much "Just Luigi and a caption".

In this instance, I think we can let JAFAAC slide, since the pose Luigi strikes in this scene is as iconic as the meme itself.

Agreed, the pose is part of the meme.

It's not doing any harm, I suppose.

The issue is that to people unfamiliar with the meme, it... looks like nothing of note.

Would the Trope Namer for Your Princess Is in Another Castle! be an improvement?

I know we have a page for Bowsette already, but that page's pic is just the character...maybe the last or next-to-last panel of the original strip could work?

I'd rather keep current. It's aging and maybe not obvious for new netizens, but it's a staple and completely recognisable for 2000s YTP fans. By the way, Hotel Mario has a separate page, so I won't suggest anything from that.

If the current is kept (which I support; it's been associated with You Tube Poop for years and is an image I can hear), it will need an upgrade to fix the stretching.

If this is JAFAAC, though, how exactly do we go about depicting "this thing has become a meme" in still image form?

I'm less familiar with that, but it might work. I'm not sure I want to create a "what are Mario and Luigi's thoughts on X?" meme for the sake of this page.

I definitely recognize "Yoshi Committed Tax Fraud" more than the current meme; I'm not a YTP fan, so the current just looks like a picture of Luigi.

I think the issue is that, a lot of meme images are very obviously jokes or edits. If the meme is just a frame from the work, it's a lot harder for an outside to tell, well, that it is a meme.

I got a chuckle out of 10 and that definitely puts it ahead of the current for me.

That's the thing: are these Super Mario memes, or YTP memes? Because "Yoshi's Tax Fraud" is something that would be recognizable to people (like myself) who don't care for YTP and don't know those kind of memes. The current images / Weegee require familiarity with YTP, which feels a bit...

I'm familiar with Weegee outside of YTP. I've not heard of that Yoshi thing until now.

Okay, so I was wrong about Weegee needing YTP familiarity, but I can guarantee the Yoshi one doesn't.

As someone who's not at all familiar with YTP: I recognize current but am not familiar with it, am familiar with Yoshi's Tax Fraud, and have never seem Weegee before in my life. That one just looks like mediocre fanart.

I don't think being a Memes/ pic requires being an obvious joke by fans. Memes.The Elder Scrolls, Memes.Hotel Mario, Memes.Pokemon, Memes.Video Games are good examples, all of them are official, but probably strange enough to make them recognisable. Besides, these things become unknown for non-knowers in 10 years most of the time anyway - 2030s tropers probably won't know what GS is.
