Honestly one of the most boggling things about SCV to me is just how unlikable Patroklos is. If you were to mark off all of his personality traits, he is a; Knight Templar with Fantastic Racism who considers himself right because he says he's right, kills people for being "malfested" (which is ill-defined but seems to range from anything to "Lizardman and Tira" to "Slightly deformed but completely normal" and guess who he spends more of the story killing) and even kills someone who may have been normal on the slight CHANCE he was malfested. He was supposed to snap out of this after realizing was being manipulated into being The Dragon, but the scattershot and rushed plot meant that when it was time to have him break out of that and become the hero to make amends... he didn't, he just kinda got a stern talking to by Ivy and changed his mind without changing his personality.
I feel like it says a lot that in character popularity polls, Patroklos, the supposed-to-be-new-headliner for SC, was dead last.

Honestly that level of fuckup for your protagonist approaches the hilarious. SC never even had a definitive hero before, the spotlight largely ping-ponging between Sophitia, Mitsurugi, Siegfried and Killik. It strikes me as funny that when they finally place one character on the pedestal for sure it's fumbled that badly.
You are not alone.Makes me wonder what they'll do if (and this is a very huge if) they ever bring Patroklos back in another game. Will they kill him off, will he become a villain, or will they make him a Butt-Monkey that gets wrecked in every scene he's in? Either way, he's definitely going to get hit by a Take That, Scrappy! in some form if he ever does come back.
I think a big part of “Will Patroklos ever come back” is looking at the climax of 6’s story mode where the twist is that it’s a splitting timeline where Cassandra sees Pat and Phyrra’s fates and swears she WILL NOT let that come to pass to her niece and nephew so that means if/when the soft reboot gets to the period of time they’re grown up, they’ll hopefully be so different in personality and motive to be redeemed.
Though there really is something to be said about the idea of them saying our new protagonist is so unlikeable we’re going to say he exists because it’s a Bad Future and it’s one of our flagship’s goals to not let him be that way
Patroklos isnt that different from original Seigfried; They both kill people they didnt mean to, both get gaslighted and possessed by a sword, both were MASSIVE douchenoezzles to everyone they met pre redemption, both trying totrack down someone with a one track mind....
the problem comes with a few things: while we were told Seigfried did all these things, we defenitely didnt see it, at most it was written through text, while Patrokolos's story is basically the ONLY story we see in V. And of Course, Seigfried had decades of character growth while pat has a singular, rush, and plot gutted title. Not only that, but when he realizes he did screw up, he didnt even really have to live with it, Edge Master gave him a time re-do so he can probably not stab his sister this time. Combined with everyone else's stories outside MAYBE pyrrha's getting swept out paints a huge target on his back.
SCV is fascinating because as much as I defend some parts its mostly the parts that arent there that intrigue me the most. For instance, did you know Algol is the big bad of V? no? Well he is, but you only know that if you got the art book, and it was revealed that Algol was stockpiling power within Astral Chaos, which is why Edge Master was there to begin with. SO MUCH got tossed out and F Umbled about on a franchise with such rich history that I cant help but feel sorry for it when everyone starts kicking it.
No Caddicarus Cameo? For Shame, Matt.

Watch SymphogearHuh, a lot of people in a Discord server I'm in were saying they wanted this episode for a while. Can't say I'm among them just because I'm unfamiliar with the Crash franchise in the first place.
I don't really envy the position most of the older platforming mascots were in come the 2000's, but I have to commend them for (eventually) deciding to double down on the sense of humor Crash already had instead of trying to moody it up. Not that it helped with Twinsanity, but that's still something I always figured only Mario had claim to.
I can't imagine the box art did much to tantalize would-be buyers either; it's pretty flat and empty...
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaThe sad part is Twinsanity is apparently one of the more well-liked games from the era thanks to its kooky humor, the "buddy" (for lack of a better word) dynamic between cortex and crash, and more ambitious premise of an interconnected world which was new to the series. It's just obvious that they didn't have anywhere near enough time to get the game to be as polished or even just completed as it should have been.
@Draghinazzo: Its easily the overall funnieast game in the series.
Just, just look at them:
Today, Matt takes a dig at E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, why it sucked, and what its role was in The Great Video Game Crash Of 1983. Believe it or not, this wasn't the sole game behind the industry's nosedive- things like the Atari port of PAC-MAN didn't help, nor did it help when the foundation of an obscure company named Activision opened the doors for third-party developers to make games for consoles.
Still, the game's legendary status in video game history (both for crashing the industry and the rumors of a landfill that consisted of only ET cartridges) is exaggerated all the same. The only thing that isn't exaggerated is how bad of a game it is- that part can't be overstated!
