Oh, you have no idea...
There have been 'games' that have launched without executable files. You literally pay for absolutely nothing in return. And that's just one thing that can go wrong with these "games".
Skylight Freerange 2: Gachduine is a particularly infamous example:
This is on the official PlayStation YouTube account. You can buy this game on the PS4 right now. It's listed twice for some reason. Both versions are the same.
It's $24 Dollars (USD). Black Mesa costs less than this.

The miracle of digital distribution, with none of that pesky curation or quality control.
Speaking of "control", look up Air Control sometime. That's another "good" one, much closer to Big Rigs in spirit. That one's actually been delisted from Steam, but there are let's plays and such still out there.
Fun fact: James Marsters, being the person who probably gave the most shits about the source material, would later go on to voice Zamasu in Super's dub.
I want to say he only even became a fan of the original series through involvement with Evolution at that, so it's a fun bit of trivia to note.

Ah well, a Sonic RPG wasn’t necessarily doomed to fail, considering how it went for Mario.
This guy does realize that Sonic Chronicles actually sold decently well and was well-received?
The funny thing is that most of the games this guy treats as total failures sold more than his videos about them get views, but I suppose that doesn't change either his arrogance or how these videos make his fans feel good about hating games.
And on the reviews front I think the point being made was less that it's bad and more that it's "just" alright compared to the rave reviews BioWare's prior and subsequent stuff released to.
The game's gameplay wasn't given any focus for it, most of the video was about the developmental history and the problems that came with the game's story.

I still feel it is only a matter of time. I mean they already have ported over 1. The bigger question is if they will use the Xenoblade 2 graphics engine.
